Indian short video-sharing app Chingari has announced a strategic collaboration with Sai Mehar Media, an Indian entertainment content production company owned and operated by ex-CEO of PTC Network and Showbox Channel, Rajiee M Shinde.

With this strategic alliance, Chingari will build upon its strong catalogue of Indian regional music for the benefit of its content creators who will now have music released under Sai Mehar Media’s labels—Wild Music Records and Wild Music Haryanvi to choose from. This move is designed to attract increasing engagement from all parts of India on the short-video sharing app.

Following multiple partnerships with media companies such as TM Music, ii Music, music giant T-Series, and international record label Thrace Music, this collaboration marks another step forward in the coming together of two entertainment strongholds—music and social media. The Chingari app has enjoyed an exponential increase in popularity across the Indian market, Chingari allows users to create and upload short video, share original content and compositions, layer their videos with the latest music, and monetize their hard work.

One of the pillars of strength that Chingari lies on is its keen support towards indigenous music and vernacular languages. The app is available in over 20 Indian vernacular and international languages. In line with this, the association with Sai Mehar Media serves to enlarge Chingari’s massive music catalogue with Indian releases in Hindi, Punjabi and Haryanvi.

For Sai Mehar Media, this strategic partnership serves as a platform to showcase their wildly popular songs that are currently being streamed across multiple song- streaming platforms, TV channels, and radio stations. This collaboration brings all the local Punjabi and Haryanvi talent and their upcoming songs released under the two labels run by Sai Mehar Media straight to the Chingari music library. It also opens the door to allow Punjabi and Haryanvi talent to reach wider Indian audiences in the form of the flourishing Chingari family of over 46 million users.

Sumit Ghosh, Co-founder, and CEO, Chingari App said, “By adding Wild Music Records and Wild Music Haryanvi’s releases to our music catalogue, our hope is to ensure that Chingari has songs to meet the needs of every content genre and every language. Chingari users can now choose from the latest Haryanvi and Punjabi songs to make their creations more entertaining and fun.”

Rajiee M Shinde, Ceo Sai Mehar Media said, “Sai Mehar Media is an entertainment House to showcase the best of Hindi, Punjabi, and Haryanvi music under their vertical of Music Labels. We hope to create more artistic opportunities for India’s artists, singers, and content creators, while providing a collection of latest releases for fans across the country to experience on their chosen platform.”

Deepak Salvi, COO, Chingari App, said, “As a home grown brand, we have always strived to have an unparallel content library for regional content. With this step we are moving forward another step in this direction. We are hoping that we will have even more such collaborations in this year and be able to continue to offer value additions to our content creators.”

‘Multiple messaging apps’ is a reality in India now: techARC study

0

The trend of using multiple apps for chatting and sharing is picking up in India driven by unique feature set offered by emerging platforms like Telegram as well as security levels in Telegram and Signal, revealed techARC, in a user insights research spanning 2,000 active messaging users across the country.

“Though there is a clear first mover advantage for WhatsApp, users are increasingly signing up other platforms like Telegram and Signal for their unique features and better security they offer.  With this, future of messaging apps in India is going to be pluralistic in nature,” said Faisal Kawoosa, Founder & Chief Analyst, techARC.

Among major messaging apps, WhatsApp has more than 53% of its users for over 3 years. In the past 3 years, Telegram gained most of its users, while in the past 1 year, Signal gained more than 47% of its users.

According to the study, users are actively engaging across platforms daily indicating there is no clear-cut primary messaging app. Most of the users across apps use it several times in a day (at least 10 times).

App users in India install the messaging apps through OS-based stores. The pre-installed apps on smartphones are the second most popular source for users to discover messaging apps.

Users have figured out a definite reason to be on different messaging apps, the study said. More than 85% of the respondents had a specific purpose for showing the behaviour of using multiple apps, it added.

Over 32% of the respondents send critical / secret messages over Telegram. More than 45% of the users are apprehensive about WhatsApp privacy basis media reports. However, not all of them are unsure about the security as 81% of the users are still confident regarding the privacy and security offered by WhatsApp, techARC found in the study.

Even if WhatsApp loses its competitive advantage of most of the contacts for anybody using the app, over 70% of the respondents said they will continue to use both – WhatsApp and Telegram.

At least 1 in every 5 respondents prefer Telegram over WhatsApp for varied reasons including finding it secure and respecting the privacy, features like channels, allowance of users in a single group and sharing of large size files.

Over 96% of the respondents switched to Telegram because of its ability to accommodate more users in a single group. The second reason for moving to Telegram was the ability to share large files while the third reason was receiving daily updates.

Telegram has also become an integral part of Digital India initiative. Nearly 44% of the respondents were part of some government channel or group on Telegram. In terms of engagement, it stands at a tie with WhatsApp with users using them equally at 34.4%.

The diversity of India is also being well supported by Telegram’s spread. 49% of the Telegram users are part of a regional group sharing content in native language.

Because of features like several users in same group and sharing of large files, Telegram is also gaining popularity as a medium of education. 78% of the users find educational content on Telegram.

Molekule, a provider in reinventing air purification, today announced the launch of Air Mini purifier in India through authorised resellers on Amazon. With this, Molekule introduces its award-winning patented Photo Electrochemical Oxidation (PECO) air purification technology to Indian consumers.

Molekule as a brand has seen a rapid surge in interest for its products globally. Molekule’s initial offering to the Indian market, the award-winning Air Mini is currently available on Amazon.in at a retail price of INR 37,999. Air Mini is designed for rooms up to up to 23 sq meters – ideal for apartments, bedrooms, and home offices. The purifier has 5 different fan speeds that can be adjusted as required. The energy consumption is between 18-53 watts, and the noise level varies between 36-62dBA, pending fan speed. It also uses a hybrid of Molekule’s Pre-Filter and PECO-Filter in a single filter.

The proprietary PECO Technology is developed by the award-winning Dr. Yogi Goswami, a Non-Resident Indian (NRI). PECO technology is capable of destroying a wide range of airborne pollutants compared to traditional air purifiers. The broad range of pollutants addressed by PECO includes the destruction of bacteria, viruses, mold, chemicals, and particulate matter in the air, among many other contaminants. Molekule air purifiers have PECO-Filers coated in a proprietary catalyst, which, when activated by UV-A light, releases hydroxyl radicals that break the molecular bonds of viruses, bacteria, mold, allergen, odors, pollen, dander, and more.

Dr. Yogi Goswami, Co-Founder, Chief Scientist of Molekule said, “Owing to the growing hazard of Indoor or Household Pollution, this is the right time for Molekule to enter the India market, and one could not ask for a better partner than Amazon for enabling this. Molekule technology works differently and is engineered to solve real problems. We encourage people to test and experience our technology, that not just filters out the air like most air purifiers available in the market, but also destroys harmful pollutants that are present in the air at a molecular level. And with the launch of Air Mini, we make our patented technology available in India for the first time and look forward to building a strong partnership with India – one that goes beyond our products. India is an important market for us, and with our entry, we aim to bring the concept of cleaner air to the people of the country.”

This Safer Internet Day, let’s be more aware: Easy Tips to safeguard your online presence

0

Last year, we witnessed businesses increasingly shifting online due to COVID-19 outbreak. Many small businesses and startups now have permanently pivoted to online businesses, to save on costs and enjoy the comfort, safety and flexibility of remote working. As a result, there is a huge amount of data being exchanged every minute, which has made it is necessary for business owners to secure their websites from external vulnerabilities, with the biggest one being hackers.

Hackers end up targeting small business websites more, as their defenses are often weak due to lack of awareness and knowledge about cyber threats. According to data from the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, 99.4% of Indian companies categorized as MSMEs are not aware of cyber risks and their potential to upend business. Some of the most common threats that small businesses in India face are:

Malware: Malware is a term used to describe malicious software that hackers use to get network access in order to steal or destroy data. Malware breaches a network through vulnerability, usually when one clicks or downloads something in spam emails, connects an infected external device like pen drive, downloads something from an unknown or spamming site. One should always be very careful before clicking on any suspicious mail or website.

Ransomware: This is one of the most popular cyberattacks. Ransomware encrypts data, thereby locking business owners out of their own websites and business systems and then ask for a ransom to unlock that data. One needs an endpoint protection to keep hackers away from entering a system. Hence, it is always suggested to keep backups of your website at two to three different places.

Phishing attacks: Phishing is a cyber-threat of sending fraudulent communications that appear to come from a reputable source, usually wherein a hacker tries to get sensitive data like login credentials, card details and so forth. Many social media accounts have been hacked with phishing. That’s why you should ensure the genuineness of the sender of the message, image or link before clicking or downloading.

Lack of a proper web security solution can cost small businesses not just money but time and reputation too. Every entrepreneur understands that customer trust is absolutely critical to running an effective business. In order to continue providing a safer online experience, here is a short guide for entrepreneurs and business owners to protect their website and keep away from any security risk:

Choose a reliable hosting provider: To help build a safer and reliable online presence for your business, it is essential that you choose a hosting partner which is as invested in your success as you are. Sometimes your website can be secure but if the host is targeted and their security is low it can end up comprising your website. Many leading hosting providers offer an array of online tools and solutions designed to create and run a business website affordably, with a variety of security protection tools. There are dedicated platforms such as GoDaddy who ensure 24/7 monitoring and quick response time for optimal functioning of platforms to help you along your online journey.

Invest in security solutions: A security shield is a first step of defense that a cyber-criminal tries to break. It is important to deploy a good cyber security solution, like using a continuous automatic monitoring website security service, to provide comprehensive digital protection for your online business. One must ensure that the security solution includes anti-virus, anti-spam and firewall protections for optimum safety. Platforms like GoDaddy provide you with a complete suite of tools and solutions to protect your website and help you keep your customer data safe. It offers a bundled security solution that provides comprehensive protection through Website Security, SSL, Back-up & Restore, Firewall, and CDN among others.

Ensure safer password protection: Everybody knows how crucial it is to use strong passwords. It’s equally important to use a variety of passwords, instead of the same one for every account. While using the same password everywhere is a common practice, this can land you and your business in serious trouble. Hackers can easily gain access to all the confidential information from all the accounts by using that single password. There are many tools available online now to measure the strength of your password while creating. Ensuring that you have a ‘very strong’ password with a variety of letter sizes and special characters within it, and changing it regularly is the best and easiest way to protect your website.

Create an Archived Back-up: The last thing a business owner would want is to lose their data to a cyber-attack. Regularly backing up your data is another crucial measure that must be considered. You can make it a habit of manually backing your website up daily or weekly by setting calendar reminders. You can also consider using a website protection service for automatic backups and cloud storage for your data backups.

Install an SSL Certificate for your website: For all kinds of businesses performing online transactions, an SSL Certificate for your website is a must. In fact, Google has also started using website protections as a ranking signal by putting sites with SSL higher up in the search results, to ensure that people who use the search engine will be directed to authentic and safer websites.. The encryption used in SSL Certificates helps to protect the transmission of data to and from your website. To get this protection for your website, you can install an SSL Certificate from a trusted Certificate Authority (CA) like GoDaddy, as well as other providers. A website with SSL protection shows a padlock and the word ‘Secure’ in the URL address bar. These prominent security indicators show customers that the website and your business are legitimate and helps build greater customer trust.
