OnePlus, the popular smartphone maker, is said to be rolling out a free screen upgrade programme for some of its models in India.
This move aims to sort out possible screen problems and shows that OnePlus cares about keeping its customers happy.
The programme covers the OnePlus 8 Pro, OnePlus 8T, OnePlus 9, and OnePlus 9R.
If you own one of these phones and you’re part of the OnePlus Red Cable Club, you might be able to get a new screen for free.
But your phone needs to be in good nick, with no damage or dodgy repairs.
Currently, this initiative focuses on the OnePlus 8 Pro and will be extended to a select number of other older models based on screen availability. Users can visit our service centers for a diagnostic to determine if their device is at risk. Devices with human-caused damages, such as drops or liquid intrusion, are not eligible for this free upgrade and should be repaired through our standard after-sales service says OnePlus.
OnePlus has added a new benefit in the RCC page

The upgrade isn’t just about slapping on a new screen.
OnePlus will give your phone a thorough once-over to check how well the screen is working.
If needed, they’ll fit a brand new display panel that’s meant to be better than the old one.
The new screens are supposed to have brighter colours, last longer, and cope better with heat and damp.
As a bonus, OnePlus will give your phone a proper clean to make sure it’s working as it should.
They’ve even worked with their suppliers to create new screen tech for these older models.
The aim is to make screens that can handle tough conditions better.
New voucher details are available for those OnePlus devices affected by green lines.

To see if you can get the upgrade, you’ll need to pop into a OnePlus service centre.
They’ll run some tests to check if your phone qualifies.
It’s worth noting that if you’ve dropped your phone or got it wet, you won’t be able to get the free upgrade.
Right now, the programme is only running in India and mainly focuses on the OnePlus 8 Pro.
But there’s good news for OnePlus users in other countries – the company is thinking about offering something similar in other places, including the USA.
This programme is a big thumbs up for OnePlus users.
It shows the company is keen to look after its customers, even those with older models.
If you’re a OnePlus fan in India with one of these phones, it might be worth checking out this offer.
OnePlus is offering a three-tier service as part of this programme:
The new screens are designed to handle heat and humidity better. OnePlus says they’ve worked with their suppliers to create this improved technology for older models.
Currently, the programme is mainly for the OnePlus 8 Pro, but it might expand to other models like the OnePlus 8T, 9, and 9R. You’ll need to visit a service centre to see if your phone qualifies.
If your phone’s screen is working fine, you might not need to rush for the upgrade. OnePlus promises to sort out any future issues anyway.
But if you plan to keep your phone for a long time, getting the new screen could give you peace of mind.
Remember, this offer is only for phones without any damage from drops or water.
If your phone has these issues, you’ll need to use the regular repair service instead.
While this programme is only in India for now, OnePlus is thinking about doing something similar in other countries, including the USA.
They say they’re committed to keeping their customers happy, no matter where they are.
The programme covers the OnePlus 8 Pro, OnePlus 8T, OnePlus 9, and OnePlus 9R models.
To qualify, you must be a member of the OnePlus Red Cable Club and your phone should be in good condition, with no damage or unauthorized repairs.
The upgrade includes a thorough check of your phone’s screen, a potential new display panel with improved features, and a full cleaning of your device.
You need to visit a OnePlus service centre in India to see if your phone qualifies for the upgrade.
Currently, the programme is only running in India, but OnePlus is considering expanding it to other countries, including the USA.
