Xiaomi had launched the Mi Pad 5 series with flagship level specs in China last year. The Chinese brand has hit the ball out of the park with the launch of its Mi Pad 5 range of tablets. The lineup has two tablets – the standard Mi Pad 5 and the high-end Mi Pad 5 Pro. Both the tablets look strong competitors to Samsung Galaxy S series.
The launch date of Mi Pad 5 and Mi Pad 5 Pro in India is not yet revealed. However, if reports are to be believed, Xiaomi may not launch the Mi Pad 5 series in India, despite its massive success in China. But, the company should definitely give a serious thought largely because of lack of options in the Indian market.
When it comes to specs, the Mi Pad 5 and Mi Pad 5 Pro have a lot in common, including a similar appearance and display. Both tablets, like the iPad Pro, contain a stylus and keyboard, as well as a huge battery. Let’s have a look at the key specifications, characteristics, and prices of these tablets.
Starting with the Mi Pad 5, it is the vanilla model that comes in a single Wi-Fi only version.
The Mi Pad 5 has an 11-inch display with a 2,560 × 1,600 pixel resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 860 processor powers the Mi Pad 5, which is available in two RAM + storage configurations: 6GB + 128GB and 6GB + 256GB.
The device gets a single 13-megapixel rear camera as well as an 8-megapixel front camera that also supports Face Unlock.
Mi Pad 5 houses an 8,720mAh battery capacity that supports 33W fast charging.
Xiaomi has announced a special MIUI for Pad OS that ensures better multitasking, ease of usage, and support for over 300 popular apps. There is also support for HDR10, Dolby Vision, and TrueTone technology for the brightness or colour adjustment as per the ambient light.
With a few tweaks, the Mi Pad 5 Pro gets to be the elder sibling. It’s available in both Wi-Fi and 5G versions.
The display on the Mi Pad 5 Pro is identical to that on the Mi Pad 5, that is, an 11-inch display with a screen resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate.
The Snapdragon 870 SoC in the Mi Pad 5 Pro is somewhat more powerful. The Wi-Fi-only model has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, while the 256GB version has 6GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Only 6GB of RAM and 256GB of storage are included in the 5G model.
A 13-megapixel primary camera and a 5-megapixel ultra-wide camera are included in Mi Pad 5 Pro. A 50-megapixel main camera and a 5-megapixel ultra-wide lens are included in the 5G model. The front camera is identical to that of the Mi Pad 5.
The Mi Pad 5 Pro is powered by a smaller 8,600mAh battery but gets 67W faster charging.
The Mi Pad 5 Pro runs on MIUI for Pad, which includes features like split screens, custom outputs, small windows, parallel windows, and more. It also has Dolby Atmos support. The Mi Pad 5 has four speakers, but the Mi Pad 5 Pro has eight. The Mi Pad 5 is available in Black, Dazzling White, and Dark Green, while the Mi Pad 5 Pro is available in Black and Dazzling White.
The Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 costs CNY 1,999 (about Rs 22,900) for the 6GB + 128GB version and CNY 2,299 (roughly Rs 26,300) for the 6GB + 256GB version.
