After completing a critically and commercially successful theatrical run, Love Today is all braced for its official OTT release on the popular streaming platform, Netflix. The film will be making its digital premiere on December 2nd, 2022 on Netflix. Love Today, a Tamil rom-com, recently became one of the highest-grossing Tamil films of the year 2022 after it was released in the theatres about a month ago. Netflix India South confirmed the OTT release date in a Twitter post on its official Twitter handle.
Netflix India South confirmed the release date via the platform’s official handle @Netflix_INSouth on Twitter. They tweeted, “Disclaimer: Exchanging phones with your partner might be injurious to your relationship. Love Today is coming to Netflix on the 2nd of December!”
Meanwhile, the Chennai based channel, Kalaignar TV has managed to bag the satellite rights for the movie.
Since its theatrical release, Love Today garnered tremendous response from both audiences and critics. Produced on a total budget of Rs 5 crores only, the film has managed to record Rs 70 crore total business till now.
The official movie synopsis says, “A young couple is made to exchange their phones for a day. What follows is a hilarious and emotional sequence of events that puts their lives in misery.”
The story revolves around the main lead characters Uthaman Pradeep and Nikitha. The plot of their simple love story thickens when Nikitha’s father Venu Shastri makes a strange request to the couple and asks them to exchange their phones for a day. This is Venu’s way of testing their relationship and he will not have any issue with the relationship if the couple still wants to stay together after spending a day with each other’s phone. This starts a chain of dramatic and hilarious events and created chaos in Pradeep and Nikitha’s lives.
Directed by Pradeep Ranganathan, Love Today stars Ranganathan himself in the lead role along with prominent Tamil actors such as Ivana, Raveena Ravi, Raadhika Sarathkumar and Yogi Babu. The film name “Love Today” is inspired by the 1997 Tamil film of the same name that has popular Tamil actor Vijay in the lead role.
