Lava is gearing up to launch two new budget 5G smartphones in India, Lava Storm Play and Lava Storm Lite. These phones promise bold designs, solid performance and 5G connectivity. The Storm Play will also be India’s first phone powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7060 chipset, a step up from the Dimensity 6080 used in last year’s Lava Storm 5G. Here’s all we know.
Lava has confirmed that the Storm Play will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7060. This new chip made its debut globally with the Moto G56, though MediaTek hasn’t officially launched it in markets outside Europe yet.
The Dimensity 7060 is an octa-core chipset with a 2.6GHz clock speed, built on a 6nm process and features the IMG BXM-8-256 GPU. Judging by the name, it appears to be the successor to the Dimensity 7050, which powered several popular 2024 phones like the Realme P1, Narzo 70 Pro and OPPO F27 Pro+.
The Storm Play will also feature LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage, which should make multitasking smoother, reduce app loading times and offer a great gaming experience for budget-conscious buyers. Lava is targeting this phone at younger users who want good gaming performance without breaking the bank.
Lava hasn’t shared much about the Storm Lite yet. But from the name, it’s expected to be a more affordable version of the Storm Play. It may come with a different processor but will likely retain 5G support and the bold design theme.
Pricing details haven’t been confirmed yet, but since the Lava Storm 5G launched at ₹13,499, it’s likely that both the Storm Play and Storm Lite will be priced under ₹15,000.
After launch, both phones will be available on Amazon and the Lava E-store. The exact sale dates will be revealed by Lava during the launch event.
