You can now claim compensation if a matrimony site promises to find a suitable match and then fails. A recent consumer court case slapped a Rs 60,000 fine on the matrimony site for not finding a suitable match.

Here’s how the story unfolded.

A consumer court in Bengaluru has fined matrimony portal Dilmil Matrimony Rs 60,000 after it failed to fulfil its promise of finding a suitable bride for a customer’s son.

A resident from M S Nagar in Bengaluru, Vijaya Kumar K S sought a potential bride for his son Balaji and approached Dilmil Matrimony’s office in Kalyan Nagar on March 17. Kumar submitted the required documents and photos and Dilmil Matrimony charged him Rs 30,000, promising to find a suitable match within 45 days.

When Dilmil Matrimony was unable to deliver on this promise, Vijaya Kumar visited their office several times, only to be repeatedly asked to wait.

On April 30, he requested a refund but staff allegedly “refused his request and verbally abused him during his visit, using offensive language.”

In response, Vijaya Kumar issued a legal notice on May 9 but received no response.

On October 28, the court ruled, “The complainant did not get a single profile to choose a suitable match for his son, and even when the complainant visited the office of OP (Dilmil), they could not satisfy him or return the amount to the complainant.”

President of the Commission Ramachandra M S, in the order, said, “The commission has no hesitation to hold that there is a clear deficiency rendered by the OP during the course of service to the complainant and that the OP has indulged in unfair trade practices, for which the OP is held liable to refund the amount along with other reliefs granted in the complaint.”

The court ordered Dilmil Matrimony to refund the Rs 30,000 fee and pay an additional Rs 20,000 for deficiency in service.

It also slapped Rs 5,000 for mental agony and Rs 5,000 towards litigation costs, together all totalling Rs 60,000 for the matrimony site to pay to the Kuman.

Apple Delays Affordable ‘Apple Vision’ Headset Until 2027, Analyst Kuo Reports

Supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reports that Apple has delayed its release of a budget-friendly version of the Apple Vision headset.

According to Kuo in an X (previously Twitter) post, the company is pushing its launch to 2027 instead of 2025.

Previous leaks suggested Apple was planning to debut this more affordable model next year with simplified materials, lower-resolution displays and no EyeSight feature. The aim was to make spatial computing accessible to a broader audience.

However, as recent reports now confirm, plans at Apple have been changed.

TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is a trusted source and has been known in the tech community as someone who accurately reports the latest updates.

Kuo still expects Apple to launch a new version of the Apple Vision Pro next year.

It is expected to feature the M5 chip and integration with Apple Intelligence, though additional hardware upgrades are uncertain.

Drawing a comparison, Kuo noted that Apple’s attempt to reach a wider market with the lower-cost HomePod mini did not make smart speakers a mainstream product.

“I think what really drove Apple to delay the cheaper Vision Pro is that simply reducing the price wouldn’t help create successful use cases. It’s similar to the HomePod situation—even after launching the cheaper HomePod mini, Apple’s smart speakers failed to become mainstream products,” Kuo wrote in his post.

It seems Apple similarly believes a $2,000 headset may not significantly broaden visionOS’s reach.

A user highlighted on Kuo X’s post that there is no such thing as an affordable Apple product even when the product doesn’t have much to offer.

In a subsequent post as a response to the user, Kuo agreed that what Apple considers affordable could still be pricey when compared to others in the market.

He also mentioned that it all boils down to whether Apple can “provide successful cases.”

FAQs

Q1. When is Apple expected to release the budget-friendly Vision headset?

Answer. Apple has delayed its release of a budget-friendly version of the Apple Vision headset to 2027 instead of 2025.

Q2. What features are expected in the new version of the Apple Vision Pro next year?

Answer. The new version of the Apple Vision Pro next year is expected to feature the M5 chip and integration with Apple Intelligence.

Q3. Why did Apple decide to delay the cheaper Vision Pro?

Answer. Ming-Chi Kuo suggests the delay is due to the need for successful use cases, similar to the HomePod mini situation.

Apple launched the iPhone 16 lineup earlier with the tagline “Build for Apple Intelligence.” To everyone’s disappointment, the newly launched phones didn’t come with Apple Intelligence features out of the box.

The Cupertino giant instead planned a gradual release of Apple Intelligence in iOS 18 and subsequent updates. We have got the iOS 18.1 update recently and it includes some intelligence features, however, some of the biggest features announced earlier are still not rolled out.

It was previously reported that all the major Apple Intelligence features with the next iOS 18.2 update are expected to be released in late December 2024.

Now in good news for Apple fans, the latest reports suggest Apple is planning an earlier-than-expected release for iOS 18.2,

According to Bloomberg’s Apple reporter Mark Gurman Apple’s iOS 18.2 is set to arrive a bit earlier than expected, likely in the week of December 2nd.

In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman mentions that “the iOS 18.2 operating system update, which includes major improvements to Apple Intelligence […] is likely to arrive on the earlier side of December, I’m told. How early? The week of Dec. 2, barring any unexpected delays.”

This earlier release may reflect Apple’s eagerness to bring its latest AI features such as Genmoji and ChatGPT integration to users without delay.

Usually, Apple’s iOS .2 updates come out around mid-December; for example, iOS 17.2 was released on December 11th, and iOS 16.2 on December 13th.

But this time, users will get to experience Apple’s next phase of Apple Intelligence roughly a week ahead of the usual schedule.

Gurman also hints at what’s coming with iOS 18.4.

Apple is moving away from its usual timeline for iOS .4 updates, which usually appear in March. This release will come a bit later, most likely to roll out in April 2025.

The update is anticipated to bring significant enhancements to Siri including support for personal context, further advancing Apple’s AI-powered features.

The thing about Apple is even before the newly launched device starts moving, the tech community already has its eyes set on what the Cupertino giant is doing next.

According to Bloomberg’s trusted Apple reporter Mark Gurman, Apple is planning a “total redesign” for its MacBook Pro in 2026. Before going for any other assumption, it seems the next big overhaul won’t happen until a year after the M5 chip upgrade that is set to arrive in 2025.

Apple updates the MacBook Pro design every four years traditionally. But for now, it appears things will remain the same for another year.

In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman shared, “the MacBook Pro probably won’t get another true overhaul until 2026.”

He notes that while Apple initially aimed for a 2025 release. However, delays with new display technology have pushed the redesign to the following year.

The 2026 MacBook Pro refresh is expected to feature OLED displays, similar to the screens in Apple’s upcoming M4 iPad Pro lineup. This new model will also have a “thinner design.”

Apple made its MacBook Pros a bit thicker when it introduced Apple Silicon, but now it looks like they’ll be shifting back to a sleeker profile, hopefully without compromising performance.

Gurman also predicts the M6 chipset for the 2026 MacBook Pro will be built on a 2nm process and deliver enhanced display technology, a redesigned look and a significant performance jump.

As for the 2025 MacBook Pro models, they’ll likely feature updated M5, M5 Pro and M5 Max chips.

However, we should not expect any other major changes beyond the chip improvements.

iPhone 17 and ‘iPhone 17 Air’ Rumoured To Feature Same Pro-Level 120Hz Displays

iPhone 17 lineup rumours are all over the place. The latest word is coming from Korean media and it is good news for all Apple fans out there.

A recent report by South Korean ETNews suggests that Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 lineup could feature 120Hz ProMotion displays with LTPO technology for all models.

This includes the standard versions and the rumoured iPhone 17 Air or iPhone 17 Slim. If true, this would mean the iPhone 17 will have smoother scrolling and will close the gap between Pro and standard iPhones.

iPhone 17 and ‘iPhone 17 Air’ Again Rumored to Feature 120Hz ProMotion Displays.

As of now, we have only seen the ProMotion displays exclusively on Apple’s Pro models starting with the iPhone 13 Pro.

This has left the standard models with a basic 60Hz refresh rate.

Bringing 120Hz displays to all iPhone 17 models could make the base models more competitive, especially as high refresh rates are widely adopted in Android flagship phones.

LTPO (low-temperature polycrystalline oxide) technology is a big part of this upgrade allowing variable refresh rates that adapt to what’s on the screen. This means the display can save battery when high refresh rates aren’t needed and provide a smooth experience when they are.

On current iPhone Pro models, ProMotion can even drop down to 1Hz to save power. While it’s unknown if the iPhone 17 base models will go that low, the leap to 120Hz is a substantial improvement.

Apple is reportedly partnering with Samsung and LG to supply these displays, with no plans yet to source LTPO panels from Chinese suppliers.

This move would align with Apple’s trend of reducing the feature differences between Pro and standard models, following the iPhone 16 series, which had fewer differences than ever.

Industry analyst Ross Young has previously hinted that 120Hz could come to non-Pro iPhones with the iPhone 17 series. ETNews’ latest report adds weight to this rumour suggesting that a major display upgrade might be coming for all iPhone 17 models.

In addition to the display upgrades, the iPhone 17 will reportedly feature a new Wi-Fi 7 chip developed by Apple, produced with TSMC’s 7nm process, replacing Broadcom’s chip to reduce costs. Apple is also developing its own 5G modem, which is expected to debut in the next iPhone SE model.

The iPhone 17 lineup is expected to come out in fall 2025.

FAQs

Q1. What is the expected display feature of the iPhone 17 lineup?

Answer. The iPhone 17 lineup could feature 120Hz ProMotion displays with LTPO technology for all models, including the standard versions.

Q2. Which company is Apple partnering with for the iPhone 17 displays?

Answer. Apple is partnering with Samsung and LG to supply these displays, with no plans yet to source LTPO panels from Chinese suppliers.

Q3. When is the iPhone 17 lineup expected to be released?

Answer. The iPhone 17 lineup is expected to come out in fall 2025.

The company is introducing a feature to help you quickly Search through your ChatGPT history. Here’s all about the recent announcement.

OpenAI has recently launched a new tool to let users search through their ChatGPT history, making it easier to revisit past conversations.

Announcing the feature on X (previously Twitter), OpenAI shared “We’re starting to roll out the ability to search through your chat history on ChatGPT web. Now you can quickly & easily bring up a chat to reference or pick up where you left off.”

This search feature is separate from ChatGPT’s “memory” capability and is designed to help users easily find past conversations to recall details or continue a previous discussion.

ChatGPT Search could reduce the need for repeating information and offer a quicker way to locate relevant links or references.

In a subsequent post, OpenAI confirmed that all Plus and Team users will get access to the feature within 24 hours of rollout. It will take one week to roll out the feature for the Enterprise and Edu users. Meanwhile, free ChatGPT users will have to wait for at least another month before getting access to the history search feature.

ChatGPT Search makes conversations searchable within a few minutes after they happen, which is why users can quickly retrieve recent chats.

Partnered with news and data providers to add up-to-date information and new visual designs for categories like weather, stocks, sports, news, and maps.

There are also Archived conversations, which are not visible in the sidebar but still appear in search results and can be accessed through the Settings menu, where they are stored separately.

How to Use ChatGPT’s History Search Tool?

Chats now include links to sources, such as news articles and blog posts, giving you a way to learn more.

To search through your previous ChatGPT conversations, follow these steps:

  • Open ChatGPT in your web browser and log in.
  • Locate the Search icon (magnifying glass) in the left sidebar. If you can find it, use the shortcut Ctrl+K on PC or Cmd+K on Mac.
  • Type keywords or phrases from the conversation you want to find.

ChatGPT will search through previous conversations, matching keywords from both titles and content.

Note that only exact matches are supported, so specific terms work best and content within the canvas isn’t searchable. Users can review the search results and select a conversation to open it and pick up where you left off.

This new search tool offers a user-friendly way to organize and revisit ChatGPT conversations.

OpenAI Introduced ChatGPT Search

Search will be available at chatgpt.com(opens in a new window), as well as on our desktop and mobile apps.

In a separate announcement, OpenAI also introduced the ChatGPT search promising a “much better way than before so you get fast, timely answers with links to relevant web sources.”

Realme is gearing up for the GT 7 Pro’s China launch on November 4 with a global release to follow soon after.

Before the launch, the company started sending review units to reviewers. One such review unit box packaging image surfaced online recently to reveal an incorrect processor name printed on it.

The GT 7 Pro will be the first global smartphone with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite processor.

Initially, this processor was expected to be called the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, a name that Realme had also used on some review unit packaging.

The brand shared several images taken by Chinese film and television director Jia Zhangke.

In a last-minute decision, Qualcomm renamed the processor as the Snapdragon 8 Elite, a change confirmed to Realme only “a few days before the Snapdragon Summit.” A Realme representative explained that this late change didn’t leave enough time to update the packaging on review units.

We know Samsung has been developing its own extended reality (XR) headset for about a year but there have not been any confirmations so far. Now the company finally gave us a hint that we might get something next year.

During its latest earnings call, the company hinted at the plans to “improve connectivity among products including upcoming XR devices.”

This is not the first hint, though earlier hints were all unofficial.

A recent Daily Korea report suggested that Samsung is accelerating its XR release plans especially since LG has scrapped its premium Meta Horizon OS headset launch scheduled for 2025 and Apple has paused work on the Vision Pro 2 to focus on a more affordable version.

Samsung’s XR headset to launch in 2025, company confirms

Meanwhile, industry experts at Tom’s Guide predicted that Samsung’s XR headset will use a Qualcomm chip and will likely operate on a platform from Google. This prediction aligns with Google’s Rick Osterloh’s announcement at Galaxy Unpacked 2024 when he hinted at a new XR platform launching soon.

Contrary to these, reports from SBS Biz indicate that Samsung decided to rework the design of its XR headset after the Vision Pro reveal. It revealed that the initial concept did not meet Samsung’s own high standards.

Moreover, Android Authority also recently reported that Google is planning to support apps specifically designed for XR headsets further signalling Samsung’s plans. And the Information also notes that Google has been pitching its Android XR platform to other companies, though Samsung remains the only major brand showing clear interest.

But what will Samsung’s XR headset look like?

Samsung reported that it submitted a patent application about two years ago in South Korea for a pair of mobile controllers. These devices could attach to a central charging dock.

The filing included paperwork including a photo of the hardware in question. SamMobile resurfaced that filing this week, and we have to admit: Those really do look like they could be the controllers you use with an XR headset. The translated text even identifies this as a “Metaverse Controller.”
