Moto G86 Power 5G – Design

Moto G86 Power 5G – Design

Pulling the Moto G86 Power out of the box and the first thing that you will notice is Motorola’s signature plastic-free packaging. It sets a positive tone.

First time in hand, the phone looks solid with what Moto is calling an Endless Edge design. The camera housing is so well-integrated, it just blends right into the back. There is nothing bulky or awkward here and it follows Moto’s recent design language. The Moto’s classic vegan leather finish at the back feels soft to touch, adds grip and gives the phone a classy vibe.

We are again getting some good-looking Pantone-curated colours for this model. Our review unit is the Golden Cypress variant (as you can see in the image) but there is also the Cosmic Sky and Spellbound colour variants. The Golden Cypress variant has a golden greenish tone and it looks quite different from the regular colours we usually see on smartphones.

The flat display feels sharp with the boxy body. At just 198g and 8.65mm thick, it sits really comfortably in the hand. It is light enough to carry around all day, yet it doesn’t feel flimsy.

Motorola hasn’t cut corners on durability either. The Moto G86 Power is IP68 and IP69 rated, so it can handle both dust and high-pressure water jets. It’s also got Gorilla Glass 7i on the front and military-grade MIL-STD-810H protection, meaning it’s built to take a few knocks and drops without breaking a sweat.

Overall, it’s a great first impression. Stylish, tough and thoughtfully designed.

Moto G86 Power 5G – Display, Hardware, Camera and Battery

Moto G86 Power 5G – Display, Hardware, Camera and Battery

As for the key features, let’s start with the display. The 6.67-inch pOLED Super HD screen is stunning right from first glance. It’s super bright with a peak brightness of 4500 nits, it’s the brightest in its segment.

The colours pop thanks to 10-bit support and 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut and it’s got a 120Hz refresh rate that makes scrolling feel ultra fluid.

Moreover, Motorola has added thoughtful touches like Display Colour Boost, Smart Water Touch 2.0, and SGS Eye Protection, promising to make it easier on the eyes during long use.

Performance-wise, it’s running on the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 4nm chip, which feels fast and efficient right out of the box. Brand claims an Antutu score of up to 725K, but we will have to wait for our full review to know more about the performance.

The phone features a 50MP Sony LYTIA 600C sensor with OIS and it’s easily one of the best in its price range. Motorola’s Moto AI tools like AI Photo Enhancement and Super Zoom are there to add extra polish. There also Google Photos’ AI editing features, which is a neat bonus.

You can shoot 4K videos from all the lenses including the 8MP ultrawide + macro and the crisp 32MP front camera, which also supports 4K video. There’s even a 3-in-1 ambient light sensor for more accurate brightness control.

The highlight of the phone is most certainly the 6720mAh battery, which is the biggest ever on a Moto G phone. It can easily last over two days on a single charge. And yes, there’s a 33W TurboPower charger in the box, so topping up should be quick and convenient.

Overall, at first glance, the Moto G86 Power does seem like a solid phone in terms of specs. It just doesn’t look good but it’s got the solid display tech, massive battery features and chipset to match up. A strong first impression, all around.

In an amusing blunder, Apple’s official support account on the Chinese social media platform Weibo accidentally posted a promotional video for Samsung’s newly launched Galaxy Z Flip 7. The video, briefly visible on Apple’s branded channel, was quickly taken down after the mistake was noticed.

According to the 9to5Mac report, the original post was intended to highlight Apple’s parental control features for App Store downloads. However, instead of embedding an Apple-branded video, the account mistakenly featured a commercial for Samsung’s latest foldable smartphone.

The slip-up occurred during an effort to promote Apple’s parental controls, but rather than uploading the correct video, the post ended up displaying a promotional clip for the Galaxy Z Flip 7. The error was first spotted by users online and later confirmed by well-known leaker Ice Universe on X (formerly Twitter), who noted that the video was swiftly deleted after being discovered.

The cause of the mix-up remains unclear, but two main theories have emerged. The most likely explanation is a copy-paste mistake, possibly the person managing the account had a Samsung promo link still in their clipboard while preparing Apple’s post. Another possibility is that the account is being run by a third-party marketing agency in China that may also handle content for Samsung, increasing the likelihood of such errors.

While the video has since been removed, the incident has already sparked buzz online due to the competitive tension between the two tech giants, especially with Apple rumoured to be working on its own foldable iPhone to compete with devices like the Galaxy Z Flip 7.

FAQs

Q1. What did Apple’s Weibo account accidentally post?

Answer. Apple’s official support account on Weibo mistakenly shared a promotional video for Samsung’s newly launched Galaxy Z Flip 7.

Q2. What was the intended content for the Apple post?

Answer. The original post was supposed to highlight Apple’s parental control features for App Store downloads.

Q3. What are the possible reasons Apple posting Samsung Z flip 7 promo video ?

Answer. It could be a copy-paste mistake, possibly involving a Samsung promo link left in the clipboard. Or else a third-party marketing agency managing content for both Apple and Samsung, which could have led to the mix-up.

India’s smartphone market saw a major rebound in Q2 following a slow start in Q1 with analysts at Counterpoint Research reporting record-breaking figures across several key areas.

The wholesale value of smartphones surged by 18% year-over-year, the highest ever recorded for a second quarter. Driving this growth was the ultra-premium segment, defined as devices priced above ₹45,000, which turned out to be the fastest-growing category.

This momentum also pushed the overall Average Selling Price (ASP) of smartphones in India to its highest level ever. Apple and Samsung emerged as the biggest beneficiaries of this trend.

Apple had a standout quarter with the iPhone 16 becoming the most-shipped smartphone in Q2. The company also recorded its highest-ever Q2 shipment volume in India this year.

Samsung captured the largest share (23%) of wholesale value. It ranked second in total unit shipments, fueled by strong demand for its Galaxy A and S series models.

Vivo (excluding iQOO) led the market in unit shipments, thanks to strong performance in the ₹10,000–₹15,000 range, especially in its Y and T series. Oppo (excluding OnePlus) came in third, driven by solid demand for its A and K series smartphones.

OnePlus posted an impressive 75% year-on-year growth in the ultra-premium category, led by the OnePlus 13 and 13R. Early sales data also points to strong interest in the more compact OnePlus 13s. Realme also made a push into the ultra-premium segment with the GT 7 series, especially the Realme GT 7 Dream Edition co-branded with Aston Martin F1, which generated a lot of buzz.

Motorola saw an 86% increase in shipments, driven by the popularity of its G and Edge series and bolstered by a growing retail presence. In the sub-₹10,000 segment, Lava stood out as the fastest-growing brand with a staggering 156% year-on-year growth, credited to its stock Android experience and enhanced after-sales service.

Nothing emerged as the fastest-growing brand overall for the sixth straight quarter, a feat no other brand has matched. Its Q2 shipments jumped 146% with the CMF Phone 2 Pro performing particularly well.

On the chipset front, MediaTek maintained its lead in India with a 47% market share. However, Qualcomm made significant gains, growing 28% year-on-year to secure a 31% share in Q2.

Answer. Apple led the market with the iPhone 16 becoming the most-shipped smartphone in Q2, marking its best-ever quarter in India. • The Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to feature Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, 60W fast charging and a thinner design with enhanced camera hardware and Android 16-based One UI 8.5.

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S26 lineup is shaping up to be more than a routine update. Reports based on new regulatory listings and firmware leaks indicate we should brace for significant branding and hardware changes. Here’s what we know so far.

Galaxy S26 Lineup – Expected Changes

In recent reports, the name “Galaxy S26 Pro” has once again surfaced, this time hinting at a possible replacement for the traditional base model in the Samsung flagship series.

Recent findings from One UI 8 reveal that the Galaxy S26 series will include three models, Galaxy S26 Ultra, Galaxy S26 Edge and a new Galaxy S26 Pro. This come with no mention of a standard or “Plus” variant. Earlier leaks used the codenames NP1, NP2, and NP3, where “NP” stood for “Next Paradigm.”

However, the new One UI 8 firmware points to updated codenames, M1 (S26 Pro), M2 (S26 Edge), and M3 (S26 Ultra).

While the S26 Edge has long been rumoured to replace the Plus model, the arrival of the S26 Pro is unexpected and suggests a reshuffle in the series’ hierarchy.

image

image According to SammyPolice, new GSMA listings discovered by Android Authority support this shift. Originally, model number SM-S942U was labelled simply as “Galaxy S26” in a listing dated July 10.

But a more recent listing from July 29 updates that name to “Galaxy S26 Pro,” now featuring a “1” suffix after the model number. The older listings for Galaxy S26 Edge and S26 Ultra, dated June 23, remain unchanged and there is still no sign of a Galaxy S26 Plus.

Although the listings make the Pro model’s existence more credible, its exact position in the lineup remains unclear. It seems to replace the base Galaxy S26, but the “Pro” branding is unusual for an entry-level flagship, especially when compared to other “Pro” phones like the Pixel 10 Pro or iPhone 17 Pro.

On the other hand, if the S26 Pro is positioned as a premium model, it would raise questions about how it fits alongside the Ultra and Edge variants.

Galaxy S26 Ultra – What’s New?

Meanwhile, leaked One UI 8.5 firmware has revealed several key upgrades for the Galaxy S26 Ultra. According to SamMobile, the device will be powered by Qualcomm’s next-generation chip, likely to be named Snapdragon 8 Elite 2.

The firmware also confirms support for 60W fast charging, which will be a notable upgrade over the 45W charging offered by the S25 Ultra. Although the battery capacity remains at 5,000mAh, the boost in charging speed could be a welcome improvement for users.

A user on X @erenylmaz075 also verified the 60W charging support through firmware analysis.

Samsung is reportedly working to make the S26 Ultra thinner and lighter than its predecessor, aiming for under 7mm thickness and a lower weight than the S25 Ultra. Camera enhancements are expected as well, including a new main sensor, a redesigned 3x telephoto lens, and a fresh 5x periscope zoom system.

The Galaxy S26 Ultra will ship with One UI 8.5 based on Android 16. Samsung is currently testing the software internally, and the firmware discovered on Samsung’s servers carries the serial PMK8850, strongly suggesting the use of the new Snapdragon chip, according to GSMArena.

While the S26 Ultra is expected to stick with Snapdragon, other models in the series might use Samsung’s in-house Exynos 2600 chip. The Exynos variant is said to deliver better CPU and GPU performance along with improved thermal efficiency, which could be featured in the S26 Pro and S26 Edge.

Q3. Which chipset will the non-Ultra Samsung models use?

Answer. While the S26 Ultra sticks with Snapdragon, the S26 Pro and Edge may use Samsung’s in-house Exynos 2600 chip, which is said to offer better CPU/GPU performance and improved thermal efficiency

Apple Likely to Raise iPhone 17 Series Prices by $50, Except for Base Model

0

Highlights

  • Apple is expected to raise prices by $50 for three iPhone 17 models while the base model remains at $799.
  • The hike is attributed to rising component costs and U.S. tariffs.
  • Estimated starting prices include $1,049 for iPhone 17 Pro and $1,249 for Pro Max with iPhone 17 Air set to replace the Plus model (price TBD).

Apple is reportedly planning to increase the prices of three upcoming iPhone 17 models by $50 compared to the iPhone 16 lineup, according to a new analyst report. However, the base iPhone 17 model is expected to retain its current starting price of $799.

The anticipated price hike is said to be driven by two main factors,  which are the rising component costs and U.S. tariffs on imports from China. This insight comes from a recent investor note shared by Jefferies analyst Edison Lee, which also suggests that the new iPhone 17 lineup will launch in September.

According to the report, the $50 price increase will apply to the entire iPhone 17 family, which includes the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air (set to replace the Plus model), iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. For reference, the iPhone 16 lineup ranges from $799 for the base model to $1,199 for the Pro Max variant.

If these predictions hold true, the expected starting prices for this year’s models would be as follows –

  • iPhone 17 – $799
  • iPhone 17 Pro – $1,049
  • iPhone 17 Pro Max – $1,249
  • iPhone 17 Air – Pricing not yet confirmed

The analyst also gave Apple’s stock a Hold rating, citing strong iPhone performance in Q2 2025. U.S. telecom companies reported a 22% year-over-year growth in equipment revenue. This is the highest revenue growth recorded in the past six quarters, according to the investor note.

Back in May, The Wall Street Journal had also reported that Apple was considering a price increase for the iPhone 17 lineup. Instead of directly blaming tariffs, Apple is reportedly planning to introduce new features and design upgrades to justify the higher prices.

Initially, Apple chose to absorb the additional costs taking a $900 million financial hit in Q2. However, it now appears that the company will begin passing at least part of those expenses on to consumers.

FAQs

Q1. What changes are expected in the pricing of the iPhone 17 lineup?

Answer. Apple is reportedly increasing prices by $50 for three iPhone 17 models (except the base model), citing rising component costs and U.S. tariffs as the main reasons.

Q2. Which iPhone 17 models are affected, and what are their projected prices?

Answer. The models impacted include iPhone 17 Pro expected at $1,049, iPhone 17 Pro Max expected at $1,249 and iPhone 17 Air with pricing yet to be confirmed. The base iPhone 17 will remain at $799.

Q3. How has Apple justified this price increase?

Answer. Apple initially absorbed the extra costs, reportedly incurring a $900 million hit in Q2. Now, strong sales and design upgrades are expected to support the price hike, backed by a 22% YoY growth in equipment revenue from U.S. telecom companies.

YouTube Eases Profanity Rules for Creators, Rolls Out AI-Based Teen Detection

0

 Highlights

  • YouTube now allows monetisation for videos with limited profanity in the first 7 seconds.
  • However, excessive swearing or profanity in titles/thumbnails may still lead to demonetisation.
  • YouTube is also rolling out a machine learning system to estimate user age based on behaviour.

YouTube is revising its profanity guidelines to give content creators more flexibility in monetising their content. Under the updated rules, videos containing profanity can now remain eligible for monetisation, as long as the swearing is limited to the first seven seconds of the video. Here’s the full story.

YouTube Changes Profanity Rules for Creators

EMBED Video – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXtVRYCYp5M

Conor Kavanagh, YouTube’s head of monetisation, shared the update in a video posted on the Creator Insider YouTube channel. Kavanagh explained that the original profanity restrictions were introduced two years ago to align with broadcast standards and to meet advertiser expectations.

“We introduced this guideline to align with broadcast standards; advertisers expected ads on YouTube to have a distance between profanity and the ad that just served. Those expectations have changed, and advertisers already have the ability to target content to their desired level of profanity,” Kavanagh said.

The latest update removes the previous time-based restrictions for profanity beyond the first few seconds allowing such videos to remain monetised.

However, the use of strong or moderate swear words in a video’s title or thumbnail can still lead to limited or no monetisation. Kavanagh also clarified that excessive use of strong profanity throughout a video still violates YouTube’s advertiser-friendly guidelines.

For example, a “best swearing” compilation from shows like The Thick of It or Veep would likely face demonetization due to the high frequency of profanity. Kavanagh emphasised that community guidelines still apply and that this policy shift doesn’t allow for harassment or abusive language.

These changes follow previous backlash from creators. In late 2022, YouTube implemented stricter rules that demonetised videos containing any profanity within the first 20 seconds or those with excessive swearing. In May 2023, those rules were relaxed slightly, focusing only on “strong profanity” like the f-word and limiting the enforcement window to the first 7 seconds.

Now, YouTube is becoming even more lenient based on creator feedback and evolving advertiser tools.

YouTube Introduces AI-Powered Teen Detection

Meanwhile, YouTube is also rolling out a new AI-powered system designed to better protect teenage users. The platform will use machine learning to estimate a viewer’s age based on account history, search activity and video engagement, rather than relying on the age entered during account creation.

The changes have been explained by YouTube Program Manager Lauren in a video on the Creator Insider YouTube channel.

This feature is launching initially for a small group of U.S.-based users and it will automatically apply teen protections if the system identifies an account as belonging to someone under 18. These protections include disabling personalised ads, enabling digital wellbeing tools and adjusting video recommendations.

Users who are mistakenly flagged as teens will have the option to lift the restrictions by verifying their age through a government-issued ID or credit card.

FAQs

Q1. What are the new profanity rules for YouTube monetisation?

Answer. Videos containing profanity can now remain eligible for monetisation, as long as the swearing is limited to the first seven seconds of the video. However, excessive profanity or use of strong language in titles or thumbnails may still lead to limited or no monetisation.

Q2. Why did YouTube revise its profanity guidelines?

Answer. Conor Kavanagh, YouTube’s head of monetisation, explained that the original restrictions were set to align with broadcast standards and advertiser expectations. “Those expectations have changed, and advertisers already have the ability to target content to their desired level of profanity,” he stated.

Q3. What is YouTube’s AI-powered teen detection system and how does it work?

Answer. YouTube is rolling out a new AI system that uses machine learning to estimate a viewer’s age based on account history, search activity, and video engagement, instead of relying on the age entered during account creation.

Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Note 14 SE in India, marking the first ‘SE’ variant in the Note series. The phone offers nearly identical specs to the standard Redmi Note 14, but it is priced lower at ₹14,999. Note 14 price, on the other hand, starts at ₹18,999.

This strategic release appears aimed at filling the sub-₹15,000 gap in Xiaomi’s lineup, especially with the Note 15 series still a few months away. Here‘s more about the phone.

Redmi Note 14 SE – Key Specs

The Note 14 SE is available in a single Crimson Art colour and features a slightly refreshed design that includes a square-shaped camera module, curved edges and a glossy-matte finish.

It sports a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 2,100 nits peak brightness, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Other notable features include an in-display fingerprint scanner and dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, which give it a premium edge in the budget segment where LCD screens are still common.

Under the hood, it runs on the same MediaTek Dimensity 7025 Ultra chipset as the standard Note 14. It comes with 6GB of RAM, 128GB UFS 2.2 storage and support for up to 6GB virtual memory via RAM expansion. There’s also microSD card support.

While the SE variant hasn’t been benchmarked yet, performance is expected to be similar to the Note 14, which we found suitable for everyday use and gaming, but slightly behind rivals like the iQOO Z9s and Realme 13 in thermal management and benchmarks.

Out of the box, the Note 14 SE ships with Android 15, giving it a software advantage over the Note 14, which launched with Android 14.

The camera setup includes a 50MP primary sensor, 8MP ultra-wide and 2MP macro, along with a 20MP front-facing camera. This is the same configuration as the Note 14, which impressed us with sharp portraits and surprisingly strong low-light performance.

Powering the device is a 5,110mAh battery with 45W fast charging. Xiaomi claims the battery is designed to maintain health for up to four years. While this should comfortably last a full day, it’s worth noting that some budget phones now offer larger 6,000mAh or 6,500mAh batteries.

The phone appears to continue Samsung’s clean and modern aesthetic, despite being positioned firmly in the entry-level segment. Here’s what we know so far.

The newly surfaced renders, shared by AndroidHeadlines, showcase a minimalist design with flat edges, a subtle rear camera layout and a streamlined build that looks inspired by Samsung’s higher-end devices. The Galaxy A17 is expected to be one of the most affordable phones in Samsung’s lineup this year.

A notable design update compared to the Galaxy A16 is the black bar connecting the rear camera lenses, a styling cue seen earlier on models like the Galaxy A36 and A56.

On the front, the phone retains the familiar teardrop (waterdrop) notch for the selfie camera and a slightly thicker bottom bezel. Dimensions are reportedly unchanged at 164.4 x 77.9 x 7.9mm, but the redesigned camera housing may prevent Galaxy A16 cases from fitting the new model properly.

All of this could come at a starting price under $200, making it a solid choice in the affordable phone market.
