Xiaomi sells 2 million smartphones in the first wave of festive sales

Xiaomi India claims to have sold over 2 million smartphones in just five days of the festive sale across channels. Continuing the brand’s legacy, ‘Diwali With Mi’ brought attractive discounts and offers across Mi.com, Great Indian Shopping Festival on Amazon and The Big Billion Days on Flipkart and offline channels. On the back of a strong product portfolio, the company recorded a 10X growth in the premium segment ( >20K )  vis-a-vis last year.

Telegram added 70 million users during Facebook-WhatsApp outage, says its CEO

While social media major Facebook’s outage on Monday left millions of people disconnected for almost six hours, it was the turn of its rival messaging platform Telegram to rejoice as it managed to garner over 70 million new users.

“The daily growth rate of Telegram exceeded the norm by an order of magnitude, and we welcomed over 70 million refugees from other platforms in one day,” said Pavel Durov, Founder, Telegram.

Durov on his Telegram channel mentioned that even though some users in the US might have experienced slower speeds due to the load by millions trying to sign on to the platform and go back online, for most users, the services ran just fine.

“I am proud of how our team handled the unprecedented growth because Telegram continued to work flawlessly for the vast majority of our users,” he added.

“That said, some users in the Americas may have experienced slower speed than usual as millions of users from these continents rushed to sign up for Telegram at the same time.”

Users scrambled to alternatives such as Telegram and even Signal when WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and Instagram were down.

Noise launches digital campaign with Taapsee Pannu

Nodwin, PVR bring esports to big screen for the first time in India

Oppo to roll out ColorOS 12 based on Android 12 on Oct. 11

Following the release of Android 12, smartphone brand Oppo just released its new ColorOS 12 (global version) based on the new Google operating system. This makes Oppo one of the first OEMs to release Android 12, now available on its Find X3 Pro devices in Malaysia and Indonesia.

Oppo plans to unveil the full details of ColorOS 12 (global version) with an online event on October 11 at 2:30pm IST, during which it will disclose the inclusive and customizable design, rich features and strong performance, and the rollout timeline of ColorOS 12.

With the launch, Oppo will cover 110+ devices and 150 million users across the world, making it the fastest and widest reaching ColorOS update in Oppo history.
