Samsung might be getting ready to show off something completely new at its Galaxy Unpacked event on July 9th, 2025. Along with the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, there’s a good chance we’ll also see a new premium tri-fold phone, possibly called the Galaxy G Fold.

Ahead of the big launch, a fresh leak from a One UI 8 build has given us a sneak peek at this upcoming tri-fold design. The Android Authority team has found animations within the latest One UI 8 build to give us a pretty solid idea of what the phone might look like. Here’s what we know.

Samsung’s Tri-Fold Phone Design

The animations within the latest One UI 8 build show tri-fold design features two hinges, allowing it to fold both the leftmost and rightmost screens inward. It is much like Samsung’s earlier Flex G prototype. This means the device can open up to reveal a much larger inner screen compared to regular foldables like the Galaxy Z Fold 6 or 7.

There is also a dark variant of the same animation, which gives a better look.

Here’s what stands out from the leaked animations –

  • The rightmost screen has a punch-hole camera.
  • The middle part of the back is also a screen and includes another punch hole.
  • Samsung seems to have ditched the under-display camera this time.
  • The left part of the back has a triple-camera setup, which means you could be looking at four rear cameras in total.
  • The front left section doesn’t have a display. It’s just a blank panel.
  • You fold the left side first, then the right side folds over it.
  • The hinges are of different sizes, likely to support a more secure folding action.

Samsung’s Tri-Fold – What Else Do We Know?

As for other specs and rumours, the Galaxy G Fold is said to feature a 9.96-inch display, weigh 298 grams, and measure 6.54 inches in height when folded. With its complex folding mechanism, it might end up being thicker than Samsung’s current foldables.

There’s also mention of another Samsung folding concept, the Flex S. This S-shaped design also has two hinges and three parts. In this one, the left screen folds outward, and the right screen folds inward, both over the middle section. It’s a bit like Huawei’s Mate XT.

One thing to note is that even though these phones are being called tri-folds, they don’t actually fold in three separate places. Because of this, Samsung might not use the term “tri-fold” at all. The animation files Android Authority found are labelled “Multifold 7”, though it’s unclear if that’s just an internal name or something we’ll see in marketing.

At the end of the day, nothing is official yet from Samsung’s end yet. So, we’ll have to wait until Samsung’s announcement to know for sure.

Galaxy S26 Ultra Could Stick to 5,000mAh Battery but Finally Boost Charging Speeds

0

Highlights

  • The Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to retain the 5,000mAh battery but feature a thinner body than the S25 Ultra’s 8.2mm frame.
  • Samsung may finally increase charging speeds beyond 45W, addressing long-standing user requests, though exact figures are still unknown.
  • Improvements in battery safety and durability are reportedly in the works.

Samsung may be gearing up for its next foldables, but a new leak is giving us an early peek at what to expect from the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra instead. And while there are some improvements to look forward to, not everything is changing. Here’s what we know.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra in Recent Leaks

According to well-known leaker Ice Universe, the Galaxy S26 Ultra will once again feature a 5,000mAh battery. It is the same capacity Samsung has stuck with for years. That’s a bit underwhelming, especially when competitors like OnePlus and Nothing are now pushing beyond that with silicon-carbon batteries.

image
Tipster Ice Universe’s recent post on Weibo. (Translated via Google Translate)

Some Galaxy fans have been asking Samsung to make the switch, but the company might be playing it safe due to concerns over battery safety, a lingering effect from the Galaxy Note 7 incident nearly a decade ago.

But it’s not all bad news. Ice Universe also mentions that the S26 Ultra will be slimmer than the current S25 Ultra, which has a rather bulky 8.2mm frame. A thinner design, possibly in the 7.xmm range, could make the device feel more refined and easier to hold similar to the sleeker S25 Edge.

Samsung is reportedly also making improvements to battery safety and longevity, which could be tied to another much-requested change, which is faster charging speeds.

While the leak doesn’t give exact numbers, it suggests Samsung is finally moving past the usual 45W charging rate. We don’t yet know how big the jump will be, but many would like to see it match at least the 67W speeds offered by phones like Motorola’s recent flagships.

There’s also the question of how faster charging will impact battery health over time. Users often worry that quicker charging can reduce a battery’s overall lifespan. If Samsung really is increasing the speed while also working on battery safety and durability, it may be trying to find the sweet spot while delivering faster top-ups without sacrificing long-term performance.

So while the Galaxy S26 Ultra might not bring a bigger battery, it could finally offer better charging and a slimmer, more refined design, which would be welcome changes for many fans.

Q2. Will the Galaxy S26 Ultra support faster charging?

Answer. While the leak doesn’t give exact numbers, it suggests Samsung is finally moving past the usual 45W charging rate.

Q3. How will the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s design differ from its predecessor?

Answer. Ice Universe also mentions that the S26 Ultra will be slimmer than the current S25 Ultra, which has a rather bulky 8.2mm frame.

AirPods Pro 3 To Help Apple Domininate Earbud Market, Apple Watch Challenged by Huawei, Apple’s Global App Store Revenue Surges 12%.

0

Highlights

  • Apple is expected to remain the top brand in the global TWS earbud market through 2025, driven by strong demand for the upcoming AirPods Pro 3.
  • Apple Watch’s global market share has dropped to around 20%, with Huawei growing rapidly at 16%.
  • Apple’s App Store revenue surged to $8.4 billion in Q3, up 12% year-over-year with growth expanding beyond games into categories like productivity, lifestyle, and education.

Apple is expected to stay on top of the global true wireless stereo (TWS) earbud market through 2025, thanks in part to the upcoming AirPods Pro 3, according to a new report from Counterpoint Research.

The global TWS market is predicted to grow by just 3% year-over-year in 2025, signalling a shift from rapid expansion to a more mature phase. Apple will likely remain the leading brand in terms of revenue and brand recognition, but the actual growth in units sold will mostly come from affordable earbuds under $50, especially in emerging markets and from users replacing older models.

Apple’s continued dominance in the premium segment is expected to be supported by strong demand for the AirPods Pro 3, which are rumoured to include better immersive audio and new health-focused features. But due to their higher price compared to budget models, they aren’t expected to drive major growth in sales volume. In fact, Apple may lose a bit of market share this year.

“A more noticeable increase in volume is expected around 2027, when the standard AirPods and a new ANC-equipped version are released,” Counterpoint added

While Apple leads the premium TWS market, brands like Xiaomi and JBL are growing fast. Xiaomi benefits from low pricing and a wide global reach, while JBL has gained popularity in places like India with mid-range products, smart pricing, and discounts. Both brands are projected to post double-digit shipment growth in 2025.

The TWS market overall is starting to behave like the smartphone market, with longer replacement cycles and increasing importance of pricing and ecosystem compatibility depending on the region.

Apple Watch Losing Ground

image
Apple Watch. (Image credit – Apple)

Coming to Apple Watch, Apple has long dominated the smartwatch market, at one point holding over 50% market share. But that’s slowly changing. Apple’s share has now fallen to about 20%, though it still leads the global market. Huawei sits in second place with 16%, and is growing quickly, especially outside of its core markets in China and India.

“Despite witnessing a YoY decline for the sixth consecutive quarter, Apple retained its top position in the global market, driven by its growing iOS user base,” says Counterpoint.

The report also highlights strong performances from Huawei, Imoo, and Xiaomi, which are expanding globally and increasing competition for long-time leaders like Apple.

Strong performances from Huawei, Imoo and Xiaomi [meant] these leading Chinese brands not only strengthened their foothold in the domestic market but also gained traction internationally, intensifying competition for established global players,” the report states.

App Store Revenue Surges 12%

image

Despite pressure in hardware, Apple’s App Store revenue is doing well. A Bank of America report says the App Store saw a 12% year-over-year jump in June, with growth now spreading beyond just games.

Sam Boughedda for Investing.com writes, “Citing SensorTower data, BofA said App Store revenue rose to $8.4 billion in Apple’s fiscal third quarter, an 11.5% increase from the same period last year. Downloads grew more modestly, up 4.3% to 8.6 billion, while revenue per download increased 6.9% to $0.98. June’s 12% revenue growth outpaced the 3% increase in downloads for the month, reinforcing a positive revenue mix shift, said BofA. Gaming, while still the largest category, accounted for just 45% of total App Store revenue in the quarter, down from more than 50% in prior years. BofA noted that “Photo & Video, Lifestyle, Books, Education, & Utilities each grew 100 basis points,” while “Productivity grew 200 basis points, marking the highest percentage change… We believe either scenario in the ensuing years could be a long-term tailwind for AAPL’s app store revenue.” Despite recent concerns over off-app payments following the Epic Games ruling, BofA said there is “no indication of adverse impact” on revenue to date.”

iOS 26 New FaceTime Feature Will Freeze Calls If Sensitive Content Is Detected, Even for Adults

0

Highlights

  • iOS 26 introduces a FaceTime safety tool that automatically pauses video and audio if nudity is detected during a call even for adults.
  • Apple confirms that all detection happens locally using on-device machine learning, and no data is sent to Apple’s servers.
  • Though originally designed for child accounts, the feature appears active for all users in the beta, raising privacy concerns and confusion.

One of the new features discovered in iOS 26 is a new safety tool in FaceTime. It automatically freezes your video and audio if someone on the call starts “undressing.”

Originally announced as part of Apple’s family tools for child accounts, the feature is meant to block nudity during FaceTime calls. Apple discloses, “Communication Safety expands to intervene when nudity is detected in FaceTime video calls, and to blur out nudity in Shared Albums in Photos.”

According to reports from user iDeviceHelp on X (formerly Twitter), the iOS 26 beta shows that this function seems to be active for all users including adults.

When nudity is detected, FaceTime instantly pauses the call, displays a warning message. As revealed in the screenshot shared by iDeviceHelp on X, the warning message says, “Audio and Video are paused because you may be showing something sensitive. If you feel uncomfortable, you should end the call.”

Caption – iOS 26 Beta features make FaceTime show a warning sign on detecting sensitive visuals during a call. (Image credit – iDeviceHelp on X)

FaceTime, thereafter, gives users the option to resume the video and audio or end the call.

It’s still unclear whether this feature is intentionally enabled for adults or if it’s just a bug in the beta version. Apple hasn’t clarified yet.

Naturally, this has raised some privacy concerns. However, Apple says its Communication Safety system uses on-device machine learning to detect nudity and nothing is sent to Apple’s servers.

As Apple explains, “Communication Safety uses on-device machine learning to analyze photo and video attachments and determine if a photo or video appears to contain nudity. Because the photos and videos are analyzed on your child’s device, Apple doesn’t receive an indication that nudity was detected and doesn’t get access to the photos or videos as a result.”

So while the new FaceTime feature may feel intrusive, all analysis happens locally on your device, keeping your calls private from Apple.

FAQs

Q1. What does the new FaceTime feature in iOS 26 do when it detects nudity?

Answer. When nudity is detected, FaceTime instantly pauses the call, displays a warning message. FaceTime, thereafter, gives users the option to resume the video and audio or end the call.

Q2. Is the nudity detection feature in FaceTime active for all users?

Answer. According to reports from user iDeviceHelp on X (formerly Twitter), the iOS 26 beta shows that this function seems to be active for all users including adults.

Q3. Does Apple access your data when nudity is detected in FaceTime?

Answer. Apple says its Communication Safety system uses on-device machine learning to detect nudity and nothing is sent to Apple’s servers.

Apple has finally joined Meta’s Threads, nearly two years after it was launched. And while it may have been late to the party, the new official @apple account on Threads didn’t waste time in gaining followers. The Apple account racked up over 4.8 million followers right away, even before posting anything.

That massive follower count comes largely thanks to Threads’ auto-follow feature, which lets users automatically follow accounts they already follow on Instagram. With Apple’s Instagram account boasting over 34 million followers, it’s no shock that its Threads profile shot up instantly.

Other Apple-related accounts like Apple Music, Apple News, Apple Books, Shazam, and Beats by Dre were quick to join Threads soon after its mid-2023 debut. But until now, the main @apple account had been missing in action.

Apple’s arrival on Threads is a notable move, especially considering the broader context.

The company has always had a strong presence on X (formerly Twitter), where it has nearly 10 million followers. Apple continues to use that platform to share product updates, promotional content, and event announcements.

On the flip side, Apple has stayed quiet on other alternative platforms like Mastodon with only Phil Schiller, Apple Fellow and former marketing head, maintaining a personal account there.

With this official move to Threads, Apple may be looking to expand its social media presence beyond X, especially as the digital landscape continues to shift.

FAQs

Q1. How many followers did Apple gain on Threads after joining?

Answer. The official @apple account on Threads racked up over 4.8 million followers right away, even before posting anything.

Q2. Why did Apple’s Threads account gain followers so quickly?

Answer. That massive follower count comes largely thanks to Threads’ auto-follow feature, which lets users automatically follow accounts they already follow on Instagram.

Q3. How does Apple’s presence on Threads compare to other platforms?

Answer. Apple has nearly 10 million followers on X (formerly Twitter) and has stayed quiet on platforms like Mastodon, where only Phil Schiller maintains a personal account.

Nothing OS 4.0 Based on Android 16 Coming This Autumn, Starting with Phone (3)

0

Highlights

  • Nothing OS 4.0, based on Android 16, will begin rolling out later this autumn (Q3 2025), starting with the Nothing Phone (3).
  • Nothing OS 4.0 is expected to bring AI-powered tools, a more polished UI and support for the Glyph Matrix API for interactive rear LED features.
  • The Nothing Phone (3) pre-orders began on July 4 with sales from July 15.

Nothing has just introduced its first true flagship, the Nothing Phone (3). And while it promises five years of OS updates and seven years of security patches, it doesn’t ship with the latest Android version. The phone launches with Nothing OS 3.5 based on Android 15, even though Android 16 has already been released by Google.

But there’s good news for those waiting on the update. During the launch event, Nothing CEO Carl Pei confirmed that Nothing OS 4.0 based on Android 16 is set to arrive “later this autumn.” Here’s what we know so far.

Nothing OS 4.0 – Nothing Phone (3) To Get It First

The Phone (3) will be the first to receive the new software, most likely within the next couple of months. After that, the update should roll out to older models like the Phone (2) and Phone (1). Going by last year’s update pattern, Nothing rolled out Android 15 to all supported phones within a few weeks, so the wait shouldn’t be too long.

This marks one of Nothing’s fastest OS rollouts to date, a big leap from the Android 15 update, which came much later.

Nothing OS 4.0 – What to Expect?

Nothing OS 3.5 is already sleek and responsive, but OS 4.0 is expected to take things further. It will likely include AI-powered features, more polished UI, and support for the Glyph Matrix API. This could let developers create mini-games, tools, or widgets for the Phone (3)’s signature rear LED display.

Android 16 itself brings performance improvements, stronger security, and better background app management. Nothing OS 4.0 will build on that with the brand’s minimalist look and quirky user experience.

Phone (3) Launch Details

The Nothing Phone (3) is available for pre-order from July 4, with sales starting July 15. It features a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, a 6.67-inch 120Hz OLED display, four 50MP cameras, and a 5,150mAh battery. The battery specs, however, has been boosted to 5,500mAh in India.

FAQs

Q1. When will Nothing OS 4.0 based on Android 16 be released?

Answer. Nothing OS 4.0, based on Android 16, is set to arrive “later this autumn”, with a rollout expected between September and November 2025.

Q2. Which device will receive Nothing OS 4.0 first?

Answer. The Nothing Phone (3) will be the first handset from the company to receive the Android 16-based update.

Q3. What version of Android does the Nothing Phone (3) ship with?

Answer. Despite Android 16 being released, the Nothing Phone (3) boots Nothing OS 3.5, which is based on Android 15.
