PS6 Leak Points to 30GB GDDR7 RAM Upgrade, Higher Console Price Likely

0

Highlights

  • Leaks suggest PS6 could feature 30GB of GDDR7 RAM on a 160-bit bus, delivering up to 640GB/s bandwidth.
  • Due to global memory shortages, the extra RAM could raise the console’s price by about $100.
  • Reports indicate PS6 manufacturing may begin mid-2027 with a wider release in Fall 2027 or early 2028.

PlayStation 6 launch is nowhere close at the moment, but the latest leaks are trying to give us an update on what the next-generation gaming console could offer.  Here’s what we know based on the latest leak.

PS6 Expected Upgrade

According to the latest leak, it appears PS6 could feature 30GB of GDDR7 RAM, which is 6GB more than earlier rumours suggested. The memory is said to run on a 160-bit bus, offering up to 640GB/s of bandwidth. The configuration reportedly includes 10 memory modules of 3GB each mounted on the motherboard.

image image

The latest details come from Kepler L2, a source with a track record of sharing reliable hardware-related information.

If these specifications turn out to be accurate, the PS6 would represent a significant leap over the current PlayStation 5, which ships with 16GB of GDDR6 RAM. Such an upgrade would likely support more demanding games, improved textures, and advanced performance features.

PS6 Prike Hike Expected

However, there is a potential downside. The global tech industry is currently facing a memory shortage, with RAM prices continuing to rise and supply constraints expected to persist for several years. While higher memory capacity would enhance performance, it could also result in a higher retail price for the console.

In response to the leak, one user suggested that a 20GB RAM configuration might be a more practical choice, given the increasing cost of memory. The user argued that moving up to 30GB could add around $100 to the PS6’s MSRP. Kepler L2 pushed back on this view, stating that 20GB would not be sufficient for the next-generation console.

While acknowledging that the additional memory could indeed raise the cost by about $100, he suggested that Sony may have to absorb the higher expense during the first one or two years until memory prices begin to stabilise.

As of now, PS6 is expected to arrive around 2026. However, some reports suggest manufacturing could start in mid-2027, followed by a wider release in Fall 2027 or early 2028.

FAQs

Q1. What memory upgrade is expected in the PS6?

Answer. Leaks suggest the PS6 could feature 30GB of GDDR7 RAM on a 160-bit bus, delivering up to 640GB/s bandwidth, nearly double the PS5’s 16GB GDDR6.

Q2. Will the PS6 be more expensive than the PS5?

Answer. Yes, the higher RAM capacity could raise the console’s price by about $100 due to global memory shortages, though Sony may absorb costs initially.

Q3. When is the PS6 expected to launch?

Answer. Reports indicate the PS6 could arrive around 2026, with manufacturing starting mid-2027 and a wider release in Fall 2027 or early 2028.

Apple is reportedly preparing to refresh its iPad lineup with the iPad 12 and iPad Air 8 expected to launch soon. Here’s what we are getting from the latest rumours.

iPad 12 and iPad Air 8 Launch Tipped

According to a new report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the upcoming iPads will prioritise performance upgrades over major design changes, which means users should expect faster processors but largely familiar hardware.

As per the report, the next-generation entry-level iPad will be powered by Apple’s A18 chipset, while the iPad Air 8 is expected to feature the more powerful M4 chip. Gurman notes that customers hoping for a visual redesign may be left disappointed, as Apple is likely to keep the overall design unchanged compared to last year’s models.

Updated iPads are also coming soon, including a refreshed entry-level model and iPad Airs. For those holding out for design changes, though, prepare to be disappointed: There’s little new coming to the iPad family this year other than faster processors,” reports Bloomberg.

Apple Intelligence On Base iPad

image

Apple’s move to bring the A18 chip to the entry-level iPad is particularly significant, as it enables support for Apple Intelligence. This would mark the first time a base iPad gains access to Apple Intelligence tools, a development Apple is expected to heavily highlight in its marketing strategy.

While the iPad 12 and iPad Air 8 are set to focus mainly on performance improvements, the iPad mini is reportedly in line for a more substantial upgrade.

According to the report, Apple is planning to introduce an OLED display on the iPad mini. This upgrade is expected to deliver better contrast, improved colour accuracy, and enhanced overall visual quality. All this will potentially making the iPad mini the most notable hardware update in Apple’s tablet lineup this year.

Apple’s iPad business has also shown signs of renewed growth. During the recent holiday quarter, iPad revenue reportedly increased by 6 percent year over year, beating Wall Street expectations. The entry-level iPad played a key role in this growth, and Apple is now said to be pushing it more aggressively toward enterprise customers.

With the upcoming refresh, Apple is expected to build on this momentum by combining competitive pricing with improved performance and AI-driven capabilities across its iPad range.

FAQs

Q1. What chips will power the new iPad 12 and iPad Air 8?

Answer. The entry-level iPad 12 will use Apple’s A18 chip, while the iPad Air 8 will feature the more powerful M4 chip, focusing on performance upgrades.

Q2. Will the new iPads have major design changes?

Answer. No, Apple is expected to keep the overall design largely unchanged compared to last year’s models, prioritizing faster processors instead.

Q3. What is the most notable upgrade in the iPad lineup this year?

Answer. The iPad mini is tipped to gain an OLED display, offering better contrast, colour accuracy, and visual quality.

Speculation around the launch timeline of Apple’s next-generation MacBook Pro models has been ongoing for months. The MacBooks were previously expected in January 2026, but now that window passed without an announcement. It has also been reported that the new MacBook Pros would arrive alongside soon arriving macOS 26.3. To put an end to all the speculations, we finally have a more concrete launch timeline thanks to the trusted Bloomberg source.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has shared an updated timeline in his latest Power On newsletter, offering a clearer picture of when Apple may finally unveil the M5 Pro and M5 Max MacBook Pro models.

According to Gurman, new MacBook Pro models equipped with the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips could launch as early as Monday, March 2. He notes that the timing of the release is closely linked to macOS Tahoe 26.3, with the launch window reportedly set for the week of March 2.

Gurman also points out that the currently available M4 Pro and M4 Max MacBook Pro models remain in short supply, which he sees as a strong indicator that refreshed models are imminent. As he writes, “The new MacBook Pros, meanwhile, are tied to the macOS 26.3 cycle that runs through March. The M4 versions of the high-end laptops remain in short supply, a telltale sign that new models are coming. A product launch is currently slated for as early as the week of March 2.”

What Other Apple Launches Are Expected?

Beyond the MacBook Pro refresh, Gurman also reiterated Apple’s broader Mac roadmap for the coming months. Following the launch of the M5 Pro and M5 Max MacBook Pro models, Apple is expected to introduce a new M5-powered MacBook Air, an updated Mac Studio, and a refreshed Studio Display.

As per existing rumours, the next Mac Studio could be offered with M5 Max and M5 Ultra chip options. Meanwhile, the new Studio Display is said to gain HDR support along with a higher refresh rate, potentially either 90Hz or 120Hz.

Looking further ahead, Apple is also reportedly working on a more affordable MacBook powered by the A18 Pro chip, which could launch sometime in the first half of the year. In addition, the company is said to be planning a new Mac mini as a successor to the M4 model, which itself marked the first major redesign of the Mac mini in more than a decade.

Later in the year, Apple is expected to unveil a redesigned MacBook Pro featuring OLED displays, a slimmer design, touch display support and next-generation M6 chips. All this would be rounding out what could be a packed year for Mac launches.

iPhone 17e Launch Said to Be Imminent With Key Upgrades, Apple to Keep Price Unchanged

0

Highlights

  • iPhone 17e will feature the A19 chipset, MagSafe charging up to 25W, Apple’s new C1X modem, N1 networking chip and potentially UWB support.
  • Apple plans to keep the starting price unchanged at $599 (approx. ₹54,250).
  • Accessory makers suggest the release could happen around February 19, likely via a press release.

Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17e is shaping up to be one of the company’s most affordable launches yet. Successor to last year’s first-generation iPhone 16e, the new model is expected to bring several meaningful upgrades while keeping its pricing intact. Here’s what we know.

iPhone 17e Expected Upgrades

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the iPhone 17e is expected to arrive “imminently.” Gurman reports that the iPhone 17e will feature at least four notable upgrades. These include the new A19 chipset, support for MagSafe charging, a next-generation cellular modem, and improved wireless connectivity.

As Gurman explains, “The new iPhone 17e, which replaces the 16e from a year ago, is due imminently. The big changes include the device getting the A19 chip from the iPhone 17 and MagSafe charging. And it’s shifting to Apple’s newest in-house cellular and wireless chips, I can confirm. I’ve also been told that the company is planning to keep pricing the same, at $599, setting up a simple advertising pitch: You’ll get more features for the same cost.”

Overall, the iPhone 17e is expected to follow a straightforward upgrade path.

Along with the new chipset and MagSafe support, the phone is likely to feature Apple’s updated wireless components including the C1X modem and the new N1 networking chip. For reference, Apple’s first in-house modem the C1 debuted with the iPhone 16e, while the upgraded C1X modem and N1 chip were introduced alongside the iPhone 17 lineup and iPhone Air.

iPhone 16e. (Image credit – Apple)

iPhone 17e Price Expectations

Reports suggest Apple will continue to sell the iPhone 17e at a starting price of $599, roughly Rs 54,250, the same as the iPhone 16e at launch. Gurman notes that despite adding new hardware features.

Apple is expected to position the iPhone 17e as a key offering for emerging markets and enterprise users. This approach could help the company regain ground lost to rivals like Google and Samsung, both of which have recently scaled back their presence in the budget smartphone segment.

iPhone 17e Launch Timeline

Adding to the speculation, Macworld reports that accessory makers have already begun preparing cases and accessories for the iPhone 17e. This suggests the launch could happen as early as February 19.

While Apple has not officially confirmed any date, suppliers often receive early signals through production and logistics planning.

Interestingly, February 19 falls on a Thursday, which is not Apple’s usual launch day. However, since the iPhone 16e was announced last year through a press release rather than a full event, Apple may opt for another low-key announcement this time as well.

iPhone 17e – What To Expect?

One of the biggest additions expected this year is MagSafe support. Until now, Apple’s budget iPhone lineup has relied on slower Qi wireless charging capped at 7.5W. Reports indicate that the iPhone 17e could support MagSafe charging speeds of up to 25W, a significant jump that would make everyday charging far more convenient.

This change was initially reported by The Information and has since been backed by multiple industry sources, suggesting that Apple’s lower-cost iPhone may finally shed some of its compromises.

Design-wise, major changes are unlikely. The iPhone 17e is expected to retain a single rear camera and the familiar notch. However, there are rumours that Apple could introduce the Dynamic Island to this model.

Internally, the phone is expected to be a big step forward. The which will also power the flagship iPhone 17 series. Apple’s newer C1X modem is expected to improve both 5G and LTE reliability, while the N1 chip could enable support for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread connectivity.

Another feature to watch is ultra-wideband (UWB) support. The iPhone 16e did not include UWB, limiting features such as Precision Finding for AirTags. With Apple having recently announced a new AirTag, adding UWB to the iPhone 17e would make sense, although this upgrade has not yet been confirmed.

OpenAI has already confirmed plans to unveil its first AI-powered hardware in 2026. The AI company is reportedly developing an audio-centric wearable with mass availability expected in early 2027. While details have remained limited, a fresh leak has now revealed possible naming, form factor, and even launch details. Here’s all we know so far.

OpenAI’s First Hardware – “Dime”??

According to tipster Smart Pikachu @zhihuipikachu on X, OpenAI’s debut hardware product may take the form of earbuds. The leak claims the product could be called Dime. The tipster also suggests that OpenAI may initially introduce a simpler version of the device before moving on to a more advanced and ambitious AI-powered product.

The claims are reportedly backed by a recent OpenAI-related patent filing that surfaced in China. As per the filing, the product name Dime is mentioned, strengthening speculation that OpenAI could start its hardware journey with a pair of basic AI-enabled earbuds.

Advanced AI Device May Face Delays

The tipster also notes that OpenAI’s more advanced ‘phone-like’ device with built-in computing capabilities could be delayed. The reason cited is a shortage of HBM (High Bandwidth Memory), which has reportedly pushed the bill of materials (BOM) cost too high.

Because of this, OpenAI is said to be planning a simpler hardware launch in 2026. The more advanced SKU may arrive later once component pricing becomes more stable.

Earlier, Chris Lehane, OpenAI’s Chief Global Affairs Officer, had confirmed that the company plans to build its first AI device later this year. However, he did not share a specific launch timeline or product details at the time.

Separately, OpenAI has also rolled out a new AI model for agentic coding, called GPT-5.3-Codex. The model is now available to users on all paid ChatGPT plans worldwide. According to OpenAI, GPT-5.3-Codex is 25 percent faster than its predecessor, with early versions helping the team refine the final release.

The new model is capable of creating complex web-based games from underspecified prompts and can autonomously iterate across millions of tokens.

In addition, GPT-5.3-Codex supports end-to-end software lifecycle management tasks such as writing PRDs, editing copy, conducting user research, building slide decks, analysing spreadsheets and monitoring systems.

Renders shared by Android Headlines showcase the Moto Buds 2 Plus in blue and white colour options. The earbuds themselves look very similar to the previous Moto Buds Plus, suggesting that Motorola is focusing on subtle refinements instead of a major visual overhaul.

The leaked images show that the Sound by Bose” branding remains unchanged.

Motorola’s collaboration with Bose was a key highlight of the earlier model, particularly in terms of sound tuning and active noise cancellation. Although detailed audio specifications have not been revealed yet, the continued partnership hints at a familiar sound profile potentially enhanced with minor internal upgrades.

Design-wise, the Moto Buds 2 Plus retain a stem-style form factor, which is widely preferred for comfort and improved call quality. The most visible update is seen in the charging case. Unlike the earlier flat, horizontal design, the new renders suggest a vertical storage layout for the earbuds, which could help reduce the overall thickness of the case.

Moto Buds 2 Plus – What Else We Know?

Motorola has not officially confirmed the buds yet. There is no confirmation on pricing as well.

However, expectations point to a price of around $199.99, similar to where the previous generation was launched. If accurate, this would position the Moto Buds 2 Plus as a comparatively affordable premium option.

As for the launch timeline, the appearance of detailed renders indicates that the Moto Buds 2 Plus are likely nearing launch. We can expect more details to surface as the official launch approaches.

FAQs

Q1. What design changes are seen in the Moto Buds 2 Plus renders?

Answer. The earbuds retain a stem-style design but introduce a new vertical charging case layout, making the case slimmer compared to the previous horizontal design.

Q2. Will the Moto Buds 2 Plus continue Motorola’s collaboration with Bose?

Answer. Yes. The “Sound by Bose” branding remains, suggesting similar audio tuning and active noise cancellation, possibly with minor internal upgrades.

Q3. What do we know about the pricing and launch timeline?

Answer. Motorola hasn’t confirmed details yet, but leaks suggest a price around $199.99, similar to the previous model. The detailed renders indicate the launch is approaching.

WhatsApp has been consistent in rolling out new features that make the platform much beyond basic instant messaging. Now, the latest addition appears to draw inspiration from Instagram. The Meta-owned platform is now working on a new update that could change how users share their status updates.

WhatsApp Testing Close Friends Feature for Status

According to WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo, Meta has introduced a new option that allows users to create custom lists for status sharing. This feature is aimed at helping users organise their contacts into curated lists, making it easier to control who sees specific status updates.

The feature was spotted on WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.26.5.11. Each custom list contains a selected group of contacts, along with a name and an emoji to help users easily distinguish between different lists.

These user-created lists are designed to reduce the need to manually adjust privacy settings every time a status is posted and to avoid accidentally sharing updates with the wrong contacts. Among these options is an Instagram-like “Close friends” list, which enables users to share status updates only with selected people.

How Will It Work?

To post a status update for close friends, users will need to choose the contacts they want to include in the list. This can be done in two ways. Either by selecting contacts directly from the status update privacy settings or by editing the list straight from the status interface.

Users can add or remove contacts from their close friends list at any time. However, any changes made will only apply to future status updates. If a status has already been shared with a particular list, contacts removed later will still be able to view that update.

In addition to the close friends option, WhatsApp is also testing three other privacy settings for sharing status updates. Once a status is posted, the chosen audience will see different coloured rings around the profile picture of the user who shared the update.

Availability

The option to share status updates with “Close friends” is still under development. According to the report, the feature is expected to roll out in a future version of WhatsApp.

FAQs

Q1. What is the new ‘Close Friends’ feature being tested on WhatsApp?

Answer. It’s an Instagram-inspired option that lets users create custom contact lists to share status updates only with selected people, improving privacy control.

Q2. How can users manage their WhatsApp Close Friends list for status updates?

Answer. Users can add or remove contacts directly from status privacy settings or edit the list from the status interface. Changes apply only to future updates.

Q3. When will the WhatsApp Close Friends feature for Status be available to all users?

Answer. The feature is currently in beta testing on Android (v2.26.5.11) and is still under development. It is expected to roll out in a future WhatsApp update.
