Snapchat is introducing two new features, Infinite Retention for chats and Group Streaks, both of which are aimed at enhancing user experience. The company says these additions are among the most “highly requested” by its community. Here’s what we know about the features at the moment.

Snapchat New Feature – Infinite Retention

The newly announced Infinite Retention feature changes the way chats work on Snapchat. Unlike the platform’s usual disappearing messages, this update allows users to keep their conversations permanently, similar to other messaging apps.

As the company explained in its announcement, “We’ve often heard from our community that Snapchatters want to save their chats forever and wish they could build streaks with their favorite groups.”

Snapchat began testing Infinite Retention back in 2024, and it is now rolling out globally. Previously, users could save messages by tapping on them inside chats, but this new feature makes the process seamless.

Infinite Retention can be turned on or off for individual conversations. When activated, the other person in the chat will receive a notification, and they also have the option to disable it. For example, you may choose to keep the feature on for close friends while leaving it off for casual contacts.

Snapchat New Feature – Group Streaks

Alongside Infinite Retention, Snapchat has also introduced Group Streaks. These bring a collective twist to the popular Streaks feature. Traditionally, maintaining a Streak required sending and receiving at least one photo or video Snap with a friend each day.

With Group Streaks, multiple people can contribute, making it easier to keep the streak alive. Even if a streak ends, users will have up to a week to restore it.

With Infinite Retention and Group Streaks, Snapchat is giving users more control over their conversations and adding a fun, collaborative element to its most beloved feature.

FAQs

Q1. What is Snapchat’s new Infinite Retention feature?

Answer. Infinite Retention allows users to keep chats permanently, unlike Snapchat’s traditional disappearing messages. It can be toggled on or off per conversation, and both participants are notified when it’s activated.

Q2. How do Group Streaks work on Snapchat?

Answer. Group Streaks let multiple users contribute to a shared streak by sending Snaps within a group. If the streak breaks, members have up to 7 days to restore it, making it easier to maintain than individual streaks.

Q3. Can users control who sees their saved chats with Infinite Retention?

Answer. Yes. Infinite Retention is customisable per chat. Users can choose to enable it for close friends and disable it for others. The recipient is notified and can opt out if they prefer disappearing messages.

AIIMS Never Alone app has been launched officially.

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi has introduced an AI-based mental health app aimed at supporting students with counselling and timely interventions. The initiative is designed to raise mental health awareness and provide easier access to professional care, particularly for students struggling with stress and suicidal thoughts.

“Never Alone” App for Students

The web-based app named ‘Never Alone’ can be accessed via WhatsApp or through a QR code, said Professor Dr. Nand Kumar from the Department of Psychiatry, AIIMS Delhi, during the official launch.

The rollout is starting at AIIMS Delhi, AIIMS Bhubaneswar, and the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences (IHBAS) in Shahdara. Dr. Kumar, who played a key role in developing the app, explained that the platform will allow students to undergo mental health diagnosis and avail both online and offline consultations.

“There is a lot of stigma attached to seeking mental health care, which is why many students do not want to seek help,” Dr. Kumar noted.

How the ‘Never Alone’ App Works?

The ‘Never Alone’ app uses the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) for clinical evaluations. The DSM serves as a global reference, helping professionals diagnose conditions by matching reported symptoms and behaviours against established criteria.

The programme focuses on three key areas, which are screening, intervention, and post-intervention follow-up, ensuring continuous support for students in colleges and universities.

Students will have 24×7 access to the app, which connects them with trained mental health and wellness experts. Consultations will be available at an extremely low cost of 70 paisa per day, which will be covered by the subscribing institutes. To implement the service, colleges and universities must partner with AIIMS Delhi.

Addressing the Suicide Crisis

Highlighting the urgency of such initiatives, Dr. Kumar said, “Suicide is a major public health problem…. According to a WHO report, 7.27 lakh people died by suicide in 2021… around 1,925 deaths per day or one every 45 seconds. Approximately, (73%) of these suicides occurred in low income and middle income countries.”

In India, the crisis is particularly severe. “As per NCRB (National Crime Records Bureau) data, more than 1.7 lakh people died by suicide in 2022, the highest in 56 years,” Dr. Kumar revealed.

He added that in 2022, young adults aged 18-30 accounted for 35% of suicide cases, followed closely by the 30-45 age group at 32%.

Dr. Kumar stressed the importance of systemic change, stating, Public health approach to suicide prevention argues for a major change in the way we think about suicide and its prevention, including an increase in trained mental health professionals.”

Apple Watch Hypertension Alerts Feature Gets FDA Clearance, Rolling Out Next Week

Highlights

  • Apple Watch’s hypertension notifications have received FDA approval and will begin rolling out next week across over 150 regions.

Apple’s latest health innovation for its smartwatch lineup has officially cleared a major hurdle. Just days after announcing the Apple Watch Series 11 and Apple Watch Ultra 3, Apple has received FDA approval for its new hypertension notifications feature.

At the launch event earlier this week, Apple had said it expected clearance “soon.” Now it is confirmed that the FDA has been granted approval and the feature will begin rolling out next week.

Global Availability

Apple confirmed that hypertension alerts will be available in over 150 countries and regions including the US, EU, Hong Kong, and New Zealand at launch.

The feature won’t be limited to the newest models. It will also roll out to the Apple Watch Series 9, Series 10, and Ultra 2, alongside the newly launched Series 11 and Ultra 3.

How the Hypertension Notifications Work?

Hypertension notifications use advanced machine learning and training data from multiple studies.
Hypertension notifications use advanced machine learning and training data from multiple studies. (Image credit – Apple)

Apple explained the feature in detail –

Hypertension notifications on Apple Watch use data from the optical heart sensor to analyze how a user’s blood vessels respond to the beats of the heart. The algorithm works passively in the background reviewing data over 30-day periods, and will notify users if it detects consistent signs of hypertension. These notifications provide users with valuable insights into their health as it relates to this widespread condition simply by wearing their Apple Watch, so they can begin making potentially lifesaving behavioral changes, or start treatment to reduce their risk of serious, long-term health events.

Essentially, the watch uses its optical heart sensor to track blood vessel response and analyse trends over time. The feature runs passively in the background rather than functioning as a medical diagnostic tool.

Accuracy and Health Impact

In internal testing, the feature achieved 95.3% specificity in the “Normal” category. This means that even users who weren’t fully hypertensive but showed elevated readings were still flagged, encouraging earlier conversations with healthcare providers.

Apple highlights that the feature could help identify nearly half of users with high blood pressure with even greater effectiveness for Stage 2 hypertension cases. However, the company emphasises that not everyone with hypertension will receive a notification.

Apple projects that within the first year, the hypertension notifications could alert over 1 million users with previously undiagnosed hypertension, potentially reducing risks tied to heart disease, stroke, and kidney complications.

This move further strengthens Apple’s positioning of the Apple Watch as a health-first wearable, bridging the gap between consumer technology and preventive healthcare.

FAQs

Q1. Which Apple Watch models will support the hypertension notifications?

Answer. The feature will roll out to Apple Watch Series 9, Series 10, Series 11, Ultra 2, and Ultra 3.

Q2. How do hypertension notifications work on Apple Watch?

Answer. They use the optical heart sensor to analyse blood vessel response over 30 days and notify users if consistent signs of hypertension are detected.

Q3. Is the Apple Watch hypertension feature available globally?

Answer. Yes, Apple confirmed availability in over 150 countries and regions, including the US, EU, Hong Kong, and New Zealand.

Q4. How accurate is the Apple Watch hypertension detection feature?

Answer. In internal testing, it achieved 95.3% specificity in the “Normal” category, helping flag elevated readings even before full hypertension develops.

Nothing is gearing up to launch its next-generation earbuds, the Nothing Ear (3) on September 18. Positioned as a more advanced option compared to the budget-friendly Nothing Ear (a), the new model is already creating buzz with teasers showcasing fresh design upgrades and features.

In a teaser video shared on the company’s website, the Ear (3) is shown in the familiar silver and white finish. However, the charging case this time steals the spotlight. While the overall shape and size remain similar to past generations, the case now comes with several notable changes.

“We’re upgrading our design craftsmanship to achieve the ultra-slim design of the ear buds, minimising the clearance between components, and we also re-engineered the metal antenna to a flat finish and controlled its thickness to just 0.35 mm, reaching the current industry limit. The new design features 100% anodised recycled aluminium on the case, as well as the introduction of smoother curves, a more ergonomic shape and a breakthrough Super Mic,” says the brand.

The case retains its transparent lid but now features a new silver aluminium base, replacing the plastic used in earlier versions. This shift to aluminium makes the Ear (3) feel more premium, though it also raises questions about wireless charging support since the underside of the case has not yet been revealed.

A key addition is the “talk” button on the front, alongside what appears to be a microphone or speaker next to the USB-C port. Nothing refers to this as the “Super Mic”, but it hasn’t disclosed full details. The pairing button also seems to have been shifted to the base of the case. While the exact function of the “talk” button remains unclear, it’s speculated that it could tie into Nothing’s ChatGPT integration.

According to Nothing, the Ear (3) earbuds are built with a 0.35mm-thin metal antenna and feature smaller gap dimensions compared to the previous generation, offering a sleeker and more refined look. The earbuds themselves have also been slightly redesigned for improved comfort during extended use.

The transparent design language remains intact, with the case lid and earbud covers retaining Nothing’s signature aesthetic.

With these upgrades, the Nothing Ear (3) is shaping up to be a more polished and premium version of its predecessors, combining refined design with new hardware elements like the “talk” button and Super Mic.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro Renders Leaked, No Charging Speed Upgrades Expected For S26 Pro, S26 Edge

0

Highlights

  • Leaked renders show the S26 Pro adopting a pill-shaped camera module similar to the Ultra with a slightly larger 6.3″ display and slim bezels.
  • Both the S26 Pro and S26 Edge are expected to retain 25W fast charging, unchanged from their predecessors.
  • The S26 Pro may feature a 4,300mAh battery and a thinner, taller body, while the Edge variant could pack a 4,200mAh cell with an iPhone-inspired camera bump.

Samsung is gearing up to unveil its Galaxy S26 flagship lineup next year. It is expected to include three models, which are the Galaxy S26 Pro, Galaxy S26 Edge, and Galaxy S26 Ultra.

While the Galaxy S26 Edge was recently revealed to have an iPhone 17 Pro-inspired camera bump, fresh leaks now give us a closer look at the Galaxy S26 Pro. Despite the refreshed “Pro” branding, it appears the design changes in the Pro model will remain fairly minimal. Here’s a roundup of recent leaks.

Galaxy S26 Pro Renders Leak

Well-known leaker OnLeaks in collaboration with Android Headlines has shared new renders of the Galaxy S26 Pro. Unlike the bold redesign of the Edge variant, the S26 Pro keeps things familiar, with its main tweak being a revamped camera housing.

Instead of adopting the large rectangular bump of the Edge, the Pro mirrors the Galaxy S26 Ultra with an elevated pill-shaped module, similar to the setup seen on the Galaxy Z Fold 7.

This aligns with Samsung’s long-standing approach of unifying design language across its product lines. The isolated lens design was first introduced on the Galaxy S22 Ultra nearly four years ago and Samsung seems ready for a subtle refresh. The Edge remains an ultra-thin outlier, but wobble issues across the rest of the lineup are likely to persist.

Another significant change is the larger display size. Much like Apple’s iPhone 17, Samsung is increasing the screen size on its entry-level flagship, though by a smaller margin. The Galaxy S26 Pro will feature a 6.3-inch display, up from the 6.2-inch panel on its predecessor, with slim bezels ensuring a compact footprint. While the size difference may not be dramatic, it helps Samsung match competing devices from Apple and Google.

According to Android Headlines, the Galaxy S26 Pro’s dimensions measure 149.3 x 71.4 x 6.96mm. This makes it 2.5mm taller, nearly 1mm wider, and around 2mm thinner than the Galaxy S25. However, the new pill-shaped camera bump extends to about 10mm, suggesting the device may still wobble when laid flat without a case.

Galaxy S26 Pro and Galaxy S26 Edge – Charging Speed

Separately, a new report from leaker Ice Universe @UniverseIce on X (formerly Twitter) claims that both the Galaxy S26 Pro and Galaxy S26 Edge will stick with 25W fast charging, the same as their predecessors.

This comes despite earlier rumours of 45W charging support for the Pro. If true, this will likely disappoint Samsung fans who were hoping for faster charging speeds.

Battery capacities are also tipped. The Galaxy S26 Pro may pack a 4,300mAh battery, while the Galaxy S26 Edge could feature a 4,200mAh cell. The Pro is expected to replace the standard Galaxy S model, while the Edge will take the place of the S+ variant.

FAQs

Q1. What design changes are expected in the Galaxy S26 Pro?

Answer. The S26 Pro will feature a pill-shaped camera module similar to the Ultra and Z Fold 7, a slightly larger 6.3″ display, and slimmer bezels, but overall minimal redesign.

Q2. Will the Galaxy S26 Pro and S26 Edge support faster charging?

Answer. No. Both models are expected to retain 25W fast charging, the same as their predecessors, despite earlier rumours of a 45W upgrade for the Pro variant.

Q3. What are the expected battery capacities for the S26 Pro and S26 Edge?

Answer. Leaks suggest the S26 Pro may include a 4,300mAh battery, while the S26 Edge could feature a slightly smaller 4,200mAh cell.
