Oppo Reno 12 Pro 5G Manish Malhotra Limited Edition Launched At Rs 36,999 In India: Features, Specifications, Price & Offers

0

Highlights

• OPPO has launched a special edition of the Reno 12 Pro in collaboration with fashion designer Manish Malhotra.

• The device features a special floral pattern on the back panel in an attractive matte finish.

• It has the same specifications as the regular variant, featuring the Dimensity 7300 Energy for Reno processor and OIS-enabled rear camera setup.

Oppo has launched the Oppo Reno12 Pro 5G Manish Malhotra limited edition smartphone in India.

“Inspired by Manish Malhotra’s World Collection, this special edition reflects the opulence of Indian design heritage through intricate gold filigree and floral embroidery over an elegant black backdrop,” said the company.

Manish Malhotra’s touch on the Reno 12 Pro

Oppo Reno12 Pro 5G Manish Malhotra limited edition smartphone features floral motifs of Mughal art and intricate embroidery techniques from regions like Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

Patterns inspired by Zardozi and Parsi Gara embroidery in the black and gold colour. The technique incorporates a novel Double Etching + Annealing method, with a particular emphasis on Patterned Annealing.

The Manish Malhotra edition goes beyond the standard design; it utilises an eight-layer process—compared to the usual six-layer construction of a Reno back—which includes two layers of plating (one for the gold and the other for the black) along with UV texturing, CounterPoint Screen Printing, and Stereo Etched Glass.

OPPO India, head of product marketing, Karan Dua added: “At OPPO India, we believe in the power of collaboration to create something truly special. Partnering with Manish Malhotra for the Reno12 Pro 5G Limited Edition has been an exciting journey of blending tradition with modernity. Manish’s iconic design sensibilities, rooted in India’s cultural aesthetic, have brought a unique artistic vision to life in this edition. Together, we have crafted a celebration of craftsmanship and creativity, making this festive season even more special for our consumers.”

Manish Malhotra expressed about the collaboration, stating: “I have always endeavoured to fuse tradition and opulence, and this collaboration with OPPO India captures that vision perfectly. The OPPO Reno12 Pro Limited Edition melds my passion for intricate detailing with the fine craftsmanship that OPPO brings to the table. With its luxurious design, this phone is the perfect companion for the festive season, combining beauty, elegance, and celebration. Together, we have created something that looks beautiful and feels luxurious to hold and flaunt.”

Microsoft has announced plans to simplify the Xbox gaming experience. The company is merging the Xbox Game Pass app into the main Xbox mobile app.

This change is aimed at streamlining the user experience.  It will also now allow players to explore the entire Xbox gaming library without switching between two separate apps.

As of now, Xbox players on mobile (both iOS and Android) have two apps to access. One is the Xbox app that provides console access, game streaming, and social features. The other one is the Xbox Game Pass app, which lets players access a subscription-based library of downloadable games.

Once the announced merger of Xbox Game Pass App and Main Xbox App is done, users will be able to manage everything through a single app.

Joe Skrebels, Xbox Wire Editor-in-Chief in a press statement said, “Starting this week, we’re streamlining the mobile app experience by moving features from the separate Xbox Game Pass app into the Xbox app.”

image
Microsoft advises players to keep the Xbox mobile app on mobile up to date for the latest content. (Image credit – Xbox)

At first, this merger will start with Xbox beta members. However, the plan is to roll out the new changes gradually to all users.

Microsoft also announced that as a part of the changes new downloads of the Xbox Game Pass app will be blocked from November.

“These updates will be available for Xbox beta members on mobile and will be coming to everyone soon. As part of these changes, we will no longer support new downloads of the Xbox Game Pass app, starting in November” Skrebels added.

Blocking new downloads in the Xbox Game Pass app will encourage players to shift to the unified Xbox app.

As per certain reports, the Xbox Game Pass app will be fully phased out eventually. The press statement also revealed, “Key features – like the ability to explore Game Pass and manage your membership – will now be found in one place with the Xbox app on mobile. You’ll be able to browse the full Game Pass catalogue to find your favourite games and stay in the loop with alerts for new games coming to the service. If you’re a Game Pass Ultimate member, you’ll also be able to view and claim your Perks. Game Pass Ultimate members can also stream select games through Xbox Cloud Gaming on their iOS or Android devices using a supported browser at xbox.com/play.”

Apart from merging both Xbox apps, Microsoft also announced several other updates and features in the press statement.

Other announced features include starting games as soon as updates go live, new Wish List notifications, and improvements to the Windows version of the Xbox app.

These announced changes are aimed at making the Xbox experience more user-friendly and convenient.

Microsoft has been focused on streamlining and enhancing the accessibility of its gaming platforms.

WhatsApp has been consistent in always adding new features to enhance the user experience.

It was previously reported that the popular messaging app is currently in the works to introduce new augmented reality (AR) feature effects for video calls.

Now more recent reports suggest WhatsApp is taking things even further by integrating these effects directly into the camera. Here’s what we know about the new in-camera WhatsApp features.

PhoneArena in its latest report suggests that the recent WhatsApp is offering new in-camera features in its beta update for Android (version 2.24.20.20).

In the beta update that is currently available on the Google Play Store, the app is testing a feature that allows users to apply effects and filters while using the camera.

Previously, these effects were only available during video calls.

However, now users would be able to use these effects and filters for photos and videos. It aims to offer more creative freedom to the users.

The report also suggests that WhatsApp is adding a new filter button in its camera interface. It will allow users to easily switch between different filters with just a tap.

These filters include various editing options such as skin-smoothing for getting that perfect selfie or a background-changing feature that was earlier limited to video calls. This means users would now be able to blur out the background or replace it with virtual scenes.

As of now, these in-camera effects are only available to some beta testers who have installed the latest WhatsApp beta for Android.

However, we can expect the feature to roll out to a wider user base in the coming weeks.

With these updates, WhatsApp will be the third Meta social media app after Facebook and Instagram to have in-camera effects.

Meanwhile, this is not the only new feature we will be able to see in WhatsApp future updates.

In other WhatsApp news, the app is also testing a feature that will allow users to tag contacts in their status updates. It will be similar to tagging on social media platforms.

Moreover, the messaging platform is reportedly working on features that would help users combat spam more effectively.

While the exact details of these features are currently unavailable, we are hoping to get an official update on what’s coming soon.

iPhone 16 Could Be Apple’s Least Popular Phone Since iPhone 12, says Report

Highlights

  • Reports indicate it might be the least popular iPhone in the last 5 years.

  • The report suggests sluggish demand.
  • Apple may cut supply orders due to slow demand.

Investment Bank Morgan Stanley report reveals that iPhone 16 could be the least popular iPhone since iPhone 12. (Image credit – Apple)

The iPhone 16 series launch was a lacklustre event for many reasons. The reactions to the new iPhones launched and the event in general since then have been mixed. And now if recent reports are to be believed, the iPhone 16 is turning out to be the least popular smartphone in the last 5 years.

According to a leaked survey report from Investment Bank Morgan Stanley, iPhone 16 orders are lower than for its predecessors.

Tech publication AppleInsider has recently reported that they have seen Morgan Stanley’s message to investors revealing details of its lead time survey. According to Apple Insider, the Investment Bank’s survey shows iPhone 16 demand is lower than before.

Morgan Stanley has reportedly surveyed lead times for iPhone 16 models and discovered sluggish demand.

According to an Apple Insider report, iPhone 16 series lead times on average compared to 2023 are as follows –

  • iPhone 16 Pro Max 25.5 days (instead of 43.5 days)
  • iPhone 16 Pro 18.5 (instead of 32.5)
  • iPhone 16 9 (instead of 14)
  • iPhone 16 Plus 7.9 (instead of 13.9)

“When we aggregate all of our iPhone lead time data,” says Morgan Stanley, “average iPhone 16 lead times from pre-order to today stands at 14 days, shortest amongst all cycles in the last 5 years and roughly in-line with the iPhone 12 cycle.”

Morgan Stanley further reveals that there is a strong chance that Apple will cut its supply orders following the slow movement of orders. However, it is also specified that early lead times for a product “still have very limited predictive power.”

Apple Insider report claims, “Lead times are always dependent on how much stock Apple has — and Apple never reveals this figure. So it’s possible that Apple has done a better job at manufacturing sufficient iPhones for the demand it has.”

Caption – A graph depicting lead times for different iPhone models. (Image Credit – Morgan Stanley)

The Lead Time of a product refers to the time taken by manufacturers to deliver the product to the customer after receiving an order.

A shorter lead time usually indicates that the manufacturer has more units ready than the number of orders they are receiving. It is also significant to note that a shorter lead time doesn’t necessarily mean the product is not selling.

In Apple’s case, there is always the possibility that the company has accurately predicted the demand and has sufficient units ready in stock. This could be a strategy to ensure a faster delivery.

Historically speaking, lead times have always been indicative of assessing demands. Shorter lead times often point to a slow demand.

The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus have sold close to 37 million units in its first weekend. Certain media reports also claimed Russians have been ordering more than anticipated despite higher price tags for iPhones.

Fake reviews on business profiles in Google Maps are a grave issue often highlighted by users. In a renewed effort to manage the menace of fake reviews, Google is now introducing a new warning feature on Google MapsThe search engine will flag a warning on business listings whenever fake reviews are removed.

Google Maps are often used to know more about businesses listed and reviews more often than not help reveal first-hand information. However, the review section is also one of the most exploited territories of Google Maps. Many businesses create fake reviews in order to boost a positive opinion online.

Moreover, it is not always the positive reviews that exploit the review section of business listing. There have been instances when businesses were targeted with false negative reviews that hamper their public opinion.

Google recognized the impact of these fake reviews long ago.

To address this issue, Google has created a reporting system where seemingly fake reviews can be reported. However, the effectiveness of these measures in holding businesses or users posting fake reviews responsible has been unclear.

According to a recent Search Engine Roundtable report, Google has started rolling out a new warning feature.

Google Maps will notify viewers via a warning card on the business listing whenever fake reviews are removed from the business listing.

As per reports, this feature was first noticed in the UK. It is now rolling out in the US as well.

Moreover, businesses affected by fake reviews are also likely to face restrictions.

“If we determine that a business owner has violated our Fake Engagement policy, we might place restrictions on their Business Profile (in addition to removing the violative reviews),” Google specifies on its Google Business Profile help page.

Some UK users have reported that new reviews will be temporarily blocked on profiles where fake reviews are removed. Existing reviews and ratings may also be unpublished from the listing page during Google’s investigation.

It is still unclear if Google is rolling out the warning flag worldwide or only in select regions.

As of now, if you do not see a similar feature in your geographical area, expect an update soon.

Well, no one was kidding when they said – no more password sharing!

It looks like you cannot share your Disney+ account with anyone outside of your house. Disney+ has finally launched a paid sharing plan in some countries to crackdown on password sharing. Users will now have to pay extra to add another person to an existing account to share the streaming subscription.

According to the recent announcement, Disney+ subscribers will now be able to add an extra member to their Disney+ Basic Susbcription paying an additional monthly charge of $6.99.

As for Disney+ Premium plan subscribers, adding an extra member to the plan will cost $9.99 per month.

As of now, Disney has announced the new paid sharing program in the United States and a few other countries including Canada, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region.

The new paid sharing plan comes with a few terms and conditions that make it look more like a crackdown.

For starters, you can add only one Extra Member slot per Disney+ account. Moreover, paid shared membership will not be available for Disney Bundle subscriptions or any subscribers who pay via a third-party partner.

The good news is primary Disney+ account holders will be able to access the subscription even when they are travelling.

“If you’re on the go and you see the message “This TV doesn’t seem to be part of the Household for this account”, you can mark yourself as I’M AWAY FROM HOME, or select UPDATE HOUSEHOLD if you’ve recently moved and need to reset the Household location for your Disney+ subscription. These selections will require a one-time passcode that’s sent to the email address associated with the account,” Disney explained in a press statement.

Other primary account holder benefits include the ability to transfer an eligible profile to their own Disney+ account. Primary account holders can also transfer the profile to an “Extra Member” profile. This will help in ensuring that the person doesn’t lose their Disney+ watch history and other personal settings.

Disney+ is the second streaming platform to implement rules and new paid sharing programs to their platform. Before this, Netflix had successfully implemented paid password-sharing plans.

According to Disney, it will “analyze the use of your account” to make sure one subscription is only being used within “one household.”

Previously, Netflix also announced similar changes on its platform. It reportedly uses addresses, Netflix account activity and device IDs to monitor every subscribed account usage.

FAQs

What is the new paid sharing plan for Disney+?

Disney+ has introduced a paid sharing plan to prevent password sharing. Users will now have to pay extra to add someone outside their household to their Disney+ account.

How much does it cost to add an extra member to a Disney+ subscription?

For Basic subscriptions, it costs $6.99 per month to add an extra member. For Premium subscriptions, the cost is $9.99 per month.

What are the restrictions for the new paid sharing plan?

The new plan allows only one extra member slot per account.

It’s not available for Disney Bundle subscriptions or subscribers who pay through third-party partners.

Primary account holders can still access their subscriptions while travelling and can transfer profiles to new accounts.

What would users traveling get from Disney+?

For users who travel regularly, Disney+ is giving the option to access content by either marking themselves as “I’m Away From Home” or updating their household location.

This option requires a one-time passcode sent to the account holder’s email.

Which other platforms might get changes implemented from Disney+?

Disney is planning to implement similar password-sharing restrictions for Hulu and ESPN+. The company outlined the same in updates to their respective subscriber agreements earlier this year.

The updated terms explicitly prohibit sharing login details with individuals outside the household, similar to Netflix’s approach.

What will people outside the household be available to see on Disney+?

They will need to sign up and pay for their own subscription or be added as an Extra Member to your account for an additional monthly fee to continue enjoying Disney+,” wrote Disney+ in the official note.

What is the new paid sharing program from Disney+?

Disney+ started informing its global subscribers this week about its new paid-sharing program. The paid-sharing program is available in the United States, Canada, Europe, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and the Asia-Pacific region.

It is said to roll out to a broader audience in the coming weeks. Disney+’s password-sharing restrictions were first introduced earlier this year in select regions but have now been expanded more widely.

What are some other considerations while choosing a paid sharing option for Disney+?

For more details on the benefits and differences between a Disney+ subscription and an Extra Member add-on – including eligibility, pricing, and plan features – visit the Disney+ Help Center in your region.

How much will it cost to share your Disney+ account?

If you’re a Disney+ Basic (with ads) subscriber, it will cost $6.99 a month to add an “extra member” to your account.

For ad-free Disney+ Premium subscribers, the cost is $9.99 a month for an extra member.

If those prices don’t sound a lot cheaper than the current Disney+ Basic and Premium rates, remember that Disney+’s prices will go up starting October 17 to $9.99/month for Basic subscribers (up from $7.99 a month) and $15.99 a month for Premium (up from $13.99 a month).

Can Disney bundle subscribers add an extra member?

No, for now, only standalone Disney+ subscribers can add extra members to their accounts.
