In a separate post, WABetaInfo also shared a screenshot of the settings for the new feature.

WhatsApp currently uses automated tools to filter out malicious content, but this new feature gives users even more control.

“By filtering out excessive messages from unknown sources, this feature will also help to minimize the risk of phishing attempts and malicious content, which can compromise the device performance and storage,” adds the report.

By enabling it, users can proactively block excessive messages from unknown sources, reducing the risk of spam, phishing attempts, and other harmful content.

While this feature is still under development, if you are running the latest beta version on your device, you will be able to see and enable it.

To enable this feature in the latest beta version on your device, head to Settings > Privacy > Advanced.

In the Advanced section, you would be able to see it just above the ‘Protect IP address in calls’ feature.

This particular section was released sometime back.

In another beta version leak, we also know that WhatsApp will be rolling out a reaction feature for status updates.

As per the WABetaInfo feed, this feature will allow “users would be able to easily express their appreciation about a status update by adding a quick reaction directly on the status screen.”

WABetaInfo further mentioned, “All users who reacted to the status update will be listed within the usual viewers sheet, making it easier to keep track of who liked the shared content. This centralized list ensures that users can quickly see both the viewers and those who reacted, all in one place.”

Google has finally addressed one of the major issues with Google’s Tensor-powered Pixel phones and made a big leap with a brand-new modem in the Pixel 9 series.

The issue started as early as with the Pixel 6 series phones, which were notorious for their unreliable connectivity and poor battery life.

While later models improved on reception, it is the Pixel 9 series where we finally getting a concrete advancement.

Using the Device Info HW app, Android Authority has confirmed that the standard Google Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold are all powered by the new Exynos Modem 5400.

The above screenshot from the standard Pixel 9 shows the baseband section listing a “g5400c” part number, which matches the Exynos Modem 5400.

For comparison, the Pixel 7 Pro used a “g5300q” part number, indicating the older Exynos Modem 5300.

This isn’t the first time we have read reports on the Pixel 9 series using the Exynos Modem 5400.

This information was first leaked back in April.

However, it’s exciting to see this part confirmed in a real-world Pixel phone.

Google’s switch to the new modem follows its appearance in Exynos-powered Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus models earlier in January.

The Exynos Modem 5400 is a significant upgrade from the Exynos Modem 5300, offering Release 17 connectivity that enables satellite support for the Pixel 9 series.

Manufacturer Samsung also claims that this new modem is more efficient, which should lead to better battery life in the new Pixel phones.

This new device is expected to combine an iPad-like display with a robotic arm, according to trusted Apple insider Mark Gurman from Bloomberg.

Apple aims to develop a high-end home device that features a large screen attached to a slim robotic arm.

This setup would allow the display to tilt and rotate 360 degrees using actuators.

The product design would offer a unique twist on many similar products we can see in the market today like Amazon’s Echo Show 10 or the Meta’s now-discontinued Portal.

The device is rumoured to serve as an all-in-one smart home hub, video conferencing system, and remote-controlled security device.

Gurman in his Bloomberg report mentions, “The company now has a team of several hundred people working on the device, which uses a thin robotic arm to move around a large screen, according to people with knowledge of the matter. The product, which relies on actuators to tilt the display up and down and make it spin 360 degrees […] is envisioned as a smart home command centre, videoconferencing machine and remote-controlled home security tool.”

Sources, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to Bloomberg, revealed that this project—codenamed J595—was approved by Apple’s executive team back in 2022.

However, it was only recently that the company’s creative core picked up speed.

Apple planning on venturing out to such a device shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone.

After the mega announcement of Apple Intelligence during WWDC 2024, progression into the domestic robotic category seems natural.
