iOS 27 to Focus on Improved Battery Life, Stability and Code Cleanup, Report Claims

0

Highlights

  • Apple is prioritising performance, stability, and battery efficiency in iOS 27.
  • Engineers plan to remove outdated code, rewrite system features, refine the Liquid Glass interface, and optimise older apps for smoother performance.
  • Advanced Siri features like deeper context awareness and chatbot-style interactions are being delayed to iOS 27.

Apple is reportedly planning a major overhaul with iOS 27, shifting its attention away from more features to performance, stability and improved battery efficiency. Here’s what we know based on a recent Bloomberg report.

iOS 27 – What To Expect?

According to a report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in the latest edition of his Power On newsletter, Apple is preparing what can be described as an internal reset. The goal with iOS 27 is to resolve long-standing issues that have led to bugs, uneven performance, and battery drain. These concerns have prompted some users to feel Apple’s software experience is no longer as polished as it once was.

Rather than focusing on surface-level changes, Apple is reportedly targeting the underlying framework of iOS.

Gurman described the platform as “a bit of a mess under the hood” and noted that Apple plans to “tidy” its codebase. This effort involves removing “scraps” of outdated code, rewriting certain features, and subtly upgrading older apps to “let them perform better.”

Engineers are also said to be implementing foundational improvements designed to boost efficiency and extend battery life across supported devices.

Code Cleanup and Performance Improvements

Apple’s strategy reportedly revolves around four primary steps. The company plans to remove legacy code that no longer serves a purpose, rewrite select system features to improve stability, introduce minor tweaks to the Liquid Glass interface without altering its overall design direction, and enhance older apps so they run faster and more efficiently.

Gurman stated that “the company hopes that underlying code changes will result in efficiency gains that will end up giving users more juice. If Apple does indeed pull off these improvements, it’s unclear if the company will market the changes — or if this is just a benefit of cleaning things up.”

Although Liquid Glass will receive some refinements, users should not anticipate a major redesign. The focus is expected to remain on responsiveness, smoother animations, and overall system stability while preserving the existing visual language.

AI Roadmap and Siri Updates Shift to iOS 27

Alongside performance enhancements, Apple continues to advance its artificial intelligence plans. Several advanced Siri capabilities first introduced at WWDC 2024 have reportedly been delayed and are now being pushed toward iOS 27.

These features include deeper personal context awareness and improved on-screen understanding. Gurman noted that while certain elements of the revamped Siri experience will roll out in later versions of iOS 26, others are being deferred to iOS 27. He added that Apple is still operating within its publicly stated 2026 timeline, though the delay represents a notable gap between announcement and full availability.

In addition, Apple is said to be working on a more chatbot-style Siri experience, further signalling its intent to compete more aggressively in the AI space.

FAQs

Q1. What is Apple’s main focus with iOS 27?

Answer. Apple is prioritising performance, stability, and battery efficiency, shifting away from adding new features to improve the overall user experience.

Q2. How is Apple improving iOS under the hood?

Answer. Engineers plan to remove outdated code, rewrite system features, refine the Liquid Glass interface and optimise older apps for smoother performance and efficiency.

Q3. What updates are expected for Siri in iOS 27?

Answer. Advanced Siri features like deeper personal context awareness, improved on-screen understanding, and chatbot-style interactions are being delayed to iOS 27, aligning with Apple’s AI roadmap for 2026.

Apple’s Affordable A18 Pro MacBook Tipped for March Event Debut in Vibrant New Colours and Aluminum Process

0

Highlights

  • Apple is expected to unveil a budget-friendly MacBook at its March event.
  • The laptop will feature the iPhone 16’s A18 Pro chip, around a 12.9-inch display and a new cost-efficient aluminium manufacturing process instead of plastic.
  • Apple is experimenting with vibrant colour finishes including yellow, green, blue, pink, silver and dark grey.

Apple is reportedly preparing to unveil its much-anticipated budget-friendly MacBook next month. According to a new report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the tech giant could introduce the new device at an “event” in March. The upcoming model is also expected to arrive in a range of eye-catching colour options, giving buyers something fresh beyond the usual finishes.

Apple’s Affordable A18 Pro MacBook

Instead of featuring Mac-optimised Apple Silicon, the new affordable MacBook model is said to run on the A18 Pro processor. It is the same chip used in the iPhone 16 lineup. Although this may not match the performance levels of a MacBook Air, it’s far from underpowered.

In fact, the A18 Pro was the first iPhone chipset to reach performance levels competitive with Apple’s original M1 chip, which marked a major shift in Mac performance when it debuted.

On the hardware front, Gurman reports that the laptop will sport a display measuring slightly under 13 inches. Earlier leaks have pointed to a 12.9-inch screen. Notably, despite expectations that Apple might switch to plastic to reduce costs, the new MacBook will not use a plastic chassis.

Instead, Apple has reportedly developed a new aluminium shell manufacturing process. This updated approach is said to be quicker and more cost-effective than the production methods currently used for MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models, helping the company keep costs down without sacrificing build quality.

image

Colour could be another big differentiator. Gurman notes that Apple has been experimenting with several distinctive colour finishes for the new MacBook. While the final lineup hasn’t been confirmed, tested shades reportedly include light yellow, light green, blue, pink, classic silver, and dark grey.

For users invested in the Apple ecosystem but deterred by the high price of Macs, this new device could offer a compelling alternative. Previous reports suggest that the laptop may launch at around $699.

For quite some time, Apple has been rumoured to be developing a more affordable MacBook powered by the A18 Pro chip, aiming to expand its market share with a lower-priced offering. While much of the recent Mac buzz has centred around the next-generation M5 Pro and M5 Max MacBook Pro models, along with redesigned OLED MacBook Pros, this entry-level MacBook could turn out to be one of the company’s most interesting launches in years.

FAQs

Q1. When is Apple expected to launch the new affordable MacBook?

Answer. Reports suggest Apple will unveil the budget-friendly MacBook at a March event, making it one of the company’s most anticipated launches.

Q2. What processor will power this new MacBook?

Answer. The device will run on the A18 Pro chip, the same processor used in the iPhone 16 lineup, offering performance levels comparable to Apple’s original M1 chip.

Q3. What design and colour options are expected for the new model?

Answer. The MacBook will feature a 12.9-inch display, a new cost-efficient aluminium chassis, and could arrive in vibrant finishes such as light yellow, light green, blue, pink, silver, and dark grey.

HyperX Pulsefire Fuse Wireless Gaming Mouse – Design and Comfort

The Pulsefire Fuse Wireless keeps things clean and practical. It has an ambidextrous shape, which means both left- and right-handed users can use it comfortably. The overall look of this gaming mouse is sleek without being flashy. We had the black colour mouse for this review and it carries a classic look. It fits just as well on a work desk as it does in a gaming setup.

It is just 75 grams in weight including the AAA battery. This makes the mouse quite lightweight. It feels quick and easy to move around. During long gaming sessions, that lightweight design makes a noticeable difference. We have extensively used it in everyday setting as well and the wrist doesn’t feel strained. The fast flicks feel effortless, especially in shooter games.

The Microline textured grip panels on the sides are another smart design choice. It adds just enough texture to help you maintain control without feeling rough or uncomfortable. The smooth curves of the body of the mouse make it sit naturally in the hand. Whether you prefer palm, claw or fingertip grip, the shape is versatile enough to work for most users.

Overall, this HyperX gaming mouse focuses on comfort and control rather than flashy design. For a lightweight wireless gaming mouse, that’s exactly what you want.

HyperX Pulsefire Fuse Wireless Gaming Mouse – Performance and Sensor

It’s powered by the Pixart PAW3311 sensor, which supports up to 12,000 DPI. We felt the tracking was smooth and reliable, whether in small adjustments while aiming or quick flicks during intense matches. The mouse supports a polling rate of up to 1000Hz, which means inputs feel fast and responsive.

We didn’t face any noticeable delay, especially when using the 2.4GHz wireless dongle. With a tracking speed of 300 IPS and 35G acceleration, it handles fast movements without losing accuracy. For casual and even competitive gaming, it feels consistent and dependable.

HyperX Pulsefire Fuse includes four DPI presets out of the box such as 400, 800, 1600, and 3200. These should cover most players’ needs. Switching between them is quick and easy, making it simple to adjust sensitivity depending on the game you’re playing.

The left and right buttons use Kailh switches rated for 20 million clicks. They feel crisp and tactile without being overly loud. Clicks are responsive and satisfying.

Overall, the Pulsefire Fuse may not be aimed at hardcore esports pros, but it delivers smooth performance for everyday gaming.

HyperX Pulsefire Fuse Wireless Gaming Mouse – Connectivity, Battery & Software

With Pulsefire Fuse, you get a high-speed 2.4GHz dongle for gaming and Bluetooth for more casual use. If you’re playing competitive titles, we would say the 2.4GHz mode is the one to use. We felt it was fast and responsive. Bluetooth, on the other hand, is handy if you want to connect to a laptop, tablet, or even switch between devices without juggling dongles.

Battery life is one of the strongest points of this peripheral. The mouse runs on a single AAA battery. The brand claim it is rated for up to 85 hours of usage. That’s more than enough for several days and even weeks of regular gaming before needing a replacement.

While it’s not rechargeable, swapping a AAA battery is quick and easy. An advantage is that it keeps the overall weight impressively low.

HyperX NGENUITY software gives you decent control over the mouse. You can tweak DPI levels, adjust RGB lighting and remap buttons to suit your playstyle. The interface is straightforward and easy to navigate, so you don’t have to dig through complicated menus just to make small changes.

Verdict – Should You Buy HyperX Pulsefire Fuse Wireless Gaming Mouse?

The HyperX Pulsefire Fuse Wireless gaming mouse clearly focuses on comfort and practical features. There are no extreme specs or flashy gimmicks. The lightweight 75g design makes it comfortable for long sessions, the sensor performs consistently for everyday gaming and the dual wireless connectivity adds flexibility. Battery life is solid too.

That said, this isn’t a hardcore esports mouse and it’s better suited for gamers who want a lightweight, wireless option that works well across different genres. The good thing is it can double up for regular work use.

So, should you buy it? If you’re looking for a comfortable, reliable, and reasonably lightweight wireless gaming mouse without spending on premium flagship models, the HyperX Pulsefire Fuse Wireless is definitely worth considering.

Sony INZONE E9 In-ear Gaming Headphones – Pros and Cons

Pros Cons
●      Good design

●      Lightweight and compact

●      Ideal FPS performance

●      Easy wired connection

●      Comes with a stylish carry case

●      No in-built microphone

●      Flat audio

Sony INZONE E9 In-ear Gaming Headphones – Design

The Sony Inzone E9 sticks to an in-ear gaming earphone formula with IEM-style earbuds. The earbuds are lightweight and rounded with a rigid cable section that comfortably loops over the ears for a secure fit. The Inzone branding on the earbuds makes them look a bit flashy.

The cable length is a generous 1.8 metres, which is long enough to connect without needing an extension. Console gamers are covered too, as the length works just as well when plugged into a controller. The left and right earbuds are clearly marked.

Comfort and fit worked for us, thanks to the selection of ear tips included in the box. You get eight pairs in total, split between standard silicone tips and foam-style noise-isolating tips. Each tip is available in four different sizes from extra small to extra large.

The carrying case with two separate compartments is a good design choice. One side is for the earbuds and the other for the audio box connected by a flexible rubberised strip. Small magnetic buttons underneath snap everything shut securely.

Overall, we liked the design choices Sony has made with INZONE E9. These statement gaming headphones might be the most jazziest pair out there, but that’s exactly the point. They make a statement without being too flashy. The comfort that comes with entire design is only an added advantage.

Sony INZONE E9 In-ear Gaming Headphones – Performance

Sony Inzone E9 with 5mm dynamic drivers are tuned in a fairly flat. This means bass doesn’t hit particularly hard and can feel slightly hollow at times. Treble lacks a bit of sharpness too.

However, the Inzone E9 in games really comes alive in games. It delivers excellent clarity and detail where it matters most. The upper mids are well-tuned, allowing individual sounds to stay clearly separated even during chaotic firefights. Directional audio is especially impressive, making it easy to tell where footsteps, reloads, or grenade pins are coming from, often without needing to rely on virtual surround sound.

The tuning is clearly focused on competitive play. Sounds outside your immediate view like enemies moving behind cover or around corners are pushed forward, giving you a real advantage in shooters. It pairs brilliantly with titles like Counter-Strike 2, which isn’t surprising considering Fnatic’s involvement in shaping the sound profile.

That said, this focused tuning means the Inzone E9 isn’t the best fit for every type of game. Atmospheric horror titles or cinematic single-player RPGs don’t benefit as much, as there isn’t a lot of energy across the full frequency range. There is still some low-end presence and the highs never feel harsh, but the overall sound lacks the richness you’d get from more all-rounder gaming headsets. The custom EQ helps to a degree, though it only works when you’re using the USB-C audio box.

For someone who primarily plays shooters, whether on a PC or handheld device, the Inzone E9’s sense of space, positioning, and clarity is genuinely impressive. That’s where these in-ear gaming headphones truly shine.

Verdict – Should You Buy Sony INZONE E9 In-Ear Gaming Headphones?

Sony INZONE E9 are not just any regular headphones that you can pick for everything audio needs. These are specifically designed and tuned for FPS enthusiasts. Inzone E9 is not trying to be an all-rounder and that’s important to understand before you hit the buy button. For music, movies, podcasts, or casual content consumption, they can sound a bit flat. If you’re looking for a single pair of earphones to do everything, these probably aren’t it.

But if your main goal is competitive gaming such as the fast-paced shooters on PC, the Inzone E9 makes a lot more sense. The positional accuracy is excellent, footsteps and directional cues are clear. The overall clarity gives you a genuine edge in-game. These are lightweight and offer a secure fit that stays comfortable during long sessions. These can actually be a very practical alternative to a bulky gaming headset.

So, should you buy them? If you’re a competitive FPS player who wants precise audio in a compact in-ear form factor, then yes. The Sony Inzone E9 fits that niche very well.

Reasons To Buy

  • For FPS games
  • Easy wired connection
  • Stylish design
  • Comfortable fit

Reasons Not To Buy

  • Not ideal for general use
  • Expensive
  • No microphone

Meta is reportedly preparing to introduce a facial recognition capability for its Ray-Ban smart glasses, potentially as early as this year. According to a report by The New York Times, the feature is internally known as “Name Tag” and is designed to identify individuals and provide information about them through Meta’s AI assistant.

Sources familiar with the matter told the publication that CEO Mark Zuckerberg is pushing for the feature as a way to differentiate the company’s wearable devices and enhance the usefulness of the built-in artificial intelligence assistant.

Facial Recognition Feature on Meta Smart Glasses

An internal document reviewed by The New York Times indicates that Meta has been discussing the release of the Name Tag feature since early last year. The document, dated May, reveals that the company initially considered launching the feature at a conference for blind attendees before making it available to the general public. That plan ultimately did not move forward.

The same memo also referenced the “political tumult” in the United States as potentially favourable timing for a rollout

As quoted by NYT from the document originating from Meta’s Reality Labs division, “We will launch during a dynamic political environment where many civil society groups that we would expect to attack us would have their resources focused on other concerns.”

Meta is still reportedly deciding who should be identifiable through Name Tag. Options under consideration include recognising individuals connected to a user via Meta platforms, as well as people with public accounts on services like Instagram. However, the feature is not expected to allow users to look up every person they encounter.

In a statement to The New York Times, Meta said, “We’re building products that help millions of people connect and enrich their lives. While we frequently hear about the interest in this type of feature – and some products already exist in the market – we’re still thinking through options and will take a thoughtful approach if and before we roll anything out.”

Meta’s Previous Attempts at Facial Recognition

image

This is not the first time Meta has explored integrating facial recognition into consumer hardware. Reports suggest that technical hurdles and ethical considerations prevented the feature from being included in the first generation of Ray-Ban smart glasses.

Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses have previously been involved in a viral facial recognition experiment. In 2024, two Harvard students combined the glasses with the PimEyes facial recognition service to identify strangers on a Boston subway, later sharing a video of the test online.

In response, Meta highlighted that the glasses include a small white LED indicator on the top-right corner of the frame to signal when recording is in progress.

The company is also reportedly developing more advanced “super-sensing” glasses capable of continuously running cameras and sensors to log a user’s daily activities.

Meanwhile, competition in the smart glasses space is intensifying. A report from Bloomberg last year suggested that Apple is planning to introduce its own smart glasses by the end of this year. The upcoming device is said to rival Meta’s Ray-Ban models and Android XR glasses, while offering superior build quality.

As per a Weibo post by tipster Fixed Focus Digital, Apple’s next-generation C2 baseband chip will support NR-NTN (New Radio Non-Terrestrial Networks). This technology allows smartphones to establish connections with low-Earth orbit satellites, enabling internet access in areas lacking traditional cellular infrastructure.

NR-NTN can function in two ways, either through direct phone-to-satellite communication or by using satellites as backhaul to extend carrier coverage into remote regions.

The tipster described satellite internet connectivity as one of the most significant mobile network developments of the year.

The C2 modem is expected to improve upon Apple’s first-generation C1 and C1X chips, potentially delivering better efficiency and performance in weak or congested network conditions. Reports have also pointed to tighter integration with iOS including features such as “Limit Precise Location.” It would reduce the accuracy with which carriers can determine a user’s exact position.

The Weibo post also mentioned Huawei, claiming the company publicly tested its own NR-NTN solution last year.

Satellite Over 5G – Apple’s Broader Vision

Previous reports have linked Apple Inc. to “satellite over 5G” capabilities, suggesting the company is working toward 5G networks that are not solely dependent on ground-based infrastructure. Earlier insights from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman also indicated Apple’s interest in satellite-enabled 5G coverage, though his reporting focused more on carrier backhaul scenarios rather than direct consumer connectivity.

As of now, iPhone 14 models and newer devices offer limited satellite-based features such as Emergency SOS, Find My, Messages, and roadside assistance. These services require a clear view of the sky and are primarily designed for emergency use.

FAQs

Q1. What new connectivity feature is expected in the iPhone 18 Pro?

Answer. The iPhone 18 Pro may introduce 5G satellite connectivity powered by Apple’s upcoming C2 modem, expanding beyond current emergency‑only satellite services.
