Discussions also cover AI regulatory frameworks, digital public goods, and cross-border collaboration, underscoring India’s ambition to play a leading role in shaping global AI governance.

Day 1 Marked by Overcrowding and Organisational Issues

image

While the summit opened on Monday as the first global AI gathering hosted in the Global South, welcoming delegates from over 30 countries, the inaugural day was marred by disruptions.

Attendees reported long entry queues lasting up to three hours, overcrowding inside the venue, and repeated crashes of the registration system. Some participants who had registered weeks in advance were reportedly denied entry. Due to limited seating, several attendees were asked to sit on the ground.

Confusion intensified when sections of the exhibition area were suddenly cleared ahead of security sweeps for high-level arrivals. According to coverage by Reuters, journalists faced uncertainty over entry protocols with confusion surrounding digital QR codes and physical access passes. Some physical passes promised for collection were reportedly unavailable.

Technical glitches were also reported on the summit’s website. During certain sessions, speakers were not clearly visible, nameplates were missing, and audio quality was subpar. A few sessions did not begin as per the schedule displayed online. There were also allegations of theft raised during the day.

As Day 2 unfolds with a sharper focus on deployment and policy frameworks, attention remains on how effectively the summit can translate ambition into action.

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S26 series is all set to make its official debut on February 25. Ahead of the launch, early benchmark listings of the purported Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26 Ultra have surfaced online, highlighting performance differences between chipset variants.

At the same time, Samsung has teased a new “zero-peeking privacy” feature that is expected to debut with the premium model. That’s not all, we also have the latest tip on possible camera features of S26 Ultra. Here’s a roundup of all the new details surfacing about the upcoming Samsung flagship lineup.

Samsung Teases New “Zero-Peeking Privacy” Feature

image

Samsung Electronics has released a teaser video on YouTube showcasing what it calls the Privacy Display feature. The short clip depicts commuters on a metro train attempting to glance at a user’s Galaxy S26 series phone screen. The user then enables a “zero-peeking privacy” feature, which blocks visibility of the screen content from side angles.

The teaser ends with the tagline, “Can your phone do that?” and confirms the Galaxy S26 lineup launch date as February 25.

Samsung had previously hinted at the Privacy Display technology, which is designed to prevent shoulder surfing. The feature is expected to be one of the standout upgrades of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra.

Functionally, the feature will operate similarly to privacy screen protectors or laptop privacy filters. The display will appear normal when viewed head-on, but from side angles, it will look blacked out. This could prove especially useful when accessing sensitive information such as PINs, OTPs, or personal data in crowded environments like buses or elevators.

Reports suggest that the Privacy Display may remain exclusive to the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Users are also expected to have customisation options, such as dimming notifications or restricting visibility for specific apps.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 vs Exynos 2600 – Early Benchmark Comparison

As the launch approaches, fresh benchmark comparisons have surfaced via Greek outlet TechManiacs. The report compares the Snapdragon-powered Galaxy S26 Ultra with the Exynos-equipped standard Galaxy S26.

According to Geekbench listings, the Galaxy S26 Ultra powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 “for Galaxy” scored 3,724 in single-core and 11,237 in multi-core tests. These figures align closely with earlier benchmark leaks, particularly in single-core performance.

In contrast, the Galaxy S26 running on the Exynos 2600 achieved 3,197 in single-core and 11,012 in multi-core scores. The difference in single-core performance is especially noticeable.

image

Screenshots showing SoC details of the tested Galaxy S26 Ultra (right) and S26 (left). (Screenshot by TechManiacs)

It remains unclear whether the tested Galaxy S26 Ultra model featured 12GB or 16GB of RAM, as TechManiacs concealed certain hardware details in the listing. For reference, non-Ultra variants in the lineup are expected to offer up to 12GB of RAM.

The higher single-core score of the Snapdragon variant appears to be aided by an overclocked Prime core. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 “for Galaxy” has its Prime core clocked at 4.74GHz, slightly higher than the standard 4.61GHz version found in devices such as the OnePlus 15.

By comparison, the Exynos 2600’s ARM C1-Ultra core is clocked at 3.80GHz. While the Snapdragon chip leads in single-core performance, the multi-core difference is marginal, with the Snapdragon variant holding approximately a 2% advantage.

Despite trailing in single-core benchmarks, the Exynos 2600 may benefit from Samsung’s deca-core architecture and advanced 2nm GAA process, potentially improving performance under parallel workloads. However, as these are pre-release benchmarks, the results should be viewed cautiously.

Galaxy S26 Ultra May Retain 12MP Selfie Camera

In another development, well-known tipster Ice Universe has claimed that the Galaxy S26 Ultra could feature a 12-megapixel Sony front camera sensor. The reported specifications include a 1/3.2-inch sensor size, 1.12μm pixel size, f/2.2 aperture, and an 85-degree field of view.

If accurate, these details closely mirror the front camera hardware used in the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, and Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. This could disappoint users expecting a significant upgrade in selfie quality, low-light performance, or autofocus features in Samsung’s 2026 flagship.

Apart from this, previous reports have revealed that the Galaxy S26 Ultra will feature 60W fast charging. The model will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and sport a 6.89-inch 2K 120 Hz AMOLED LTPO display.

The Samsung Galaxy S26 series is shaping up to be one of the most closely watched smartphone launches of the year. Multiple details related to enhanced privacy tools, chipset competition between Snapdragon and Exynos variants, and camera upgrades have been teased or tipped so far. All eyes are now on February 25 for the official unveiling.

Apple Schedules March 4 “Special Apple Experience” Event in New York, London and Shanghai – New Macs, iPhone 17e Expected

Highlights

  • Apple has scheduled a “special Apple Experience” on March 4, 2026.
  • The event will reportedly be hosted simultaneously in New York, London, and Shanghai, marking a shift from its usual Cupertino keynotes.
  • The event branding and teaser design suggest a hands-on showcase format.

Apple has officially announced a “special Apple Experience” set to take place on March 4, 2026, at 9 a.m. ET. Unlike its traditional keynote-style launches, the company is deliberately branding this gathering as an “experience” rather than a standard Apple event. Here are all the details.

Apple Announced March 4 Event

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman on X shared a screenshot of Apple’s first event invite of the year. The Apple invite has been sent to members of the press and it will be hosted across three major cities including New York, London and Shanghai, instead of being limited to Apple Park in Cupertino.

The teaser image features an Apple logo composed of 22 colored glass slices.

The design strongly resembles the Liquid Glass visual style seen in the latest iPhone, iPad and Mac software updates. The logo includes shades of blue, green and yellow. These colours could hint at the rumoured new Mac laptop expected to be powered by an iPhone chip.

Alternatively, the colours may reference updated iPad or iPad Air models that have been circulating in rumours.

Apple has not disclosed additional details about what will be announced. However, the unusual multi-city format and the use of the word “experience” instead of “event” suggest a different format from the company’s typical keynote presentations. Apple is known for being deliberate with its wording, so the branding could indicate a more hands-on showcase rather than a traditional stage announcement.

Apple Future Launches Expected

Several Apple products are rumoured to launch around this time, according to Gurman. These include:

  • A new low-cost MacBook powered by the A18 Pro chip
  • New M5 MacBook Air
  • New M5 Pro and M5 Max MacBook Pro models
  • New Mac displays
  • iPhone 17e
  • A base iPad powered by the A18 chip
  • An M4 iPad Air

There is also speculation that the colour scheme in the invite could relate to updated MacBook Pro models featuring M5 Pro and M5 Max processors. Reports have suggested that the iPhone 17e may launch in February with the first wave of new Macs expected to follow in March.

On the software side, Apple is also expected to roll out the first beta of iOS 26.4 soon. The update is rumoured to introduce at least some of the new Siri features powered by Google Gemini.

Earlier this year, Apple quietly introduced the second-generation AirTag. However, that release was relatively low-key indicating hardware announcements were still on the horizon.

FAQs

Q1. What is unique about Apple’s March 4, 2026 event?

Answer. Apple is branding it as a “special Apple Experience” rather than a typical keynote, hosting it across New York, London, and Shanghai instead of Cupertino.

Q2. What products are rumoured to launch during the event?

Answer. Expected announcements include a low-cost MacBook with the A18 Pro chip, new M5 MacBook Air and Pro models, updated Mac displays, iPhone 17e, and refreshed iPads.

Q3. What software updates might Apple reveal?

Answer. Apple is anticipated to roll out the first beta of iOS 26.4, which may introduce new Siri features powered by Google Gemini.

Samsung’s Privacy Display Could Come to Apple MacBooks by 2029

0

Highlights

  • Samsung’s privacy display tech debuting on the Galaxy S26 Ultra in 2026 could reach Apple MacBooks by 2029.
  • The OLED-based Flex Magic Pixel embeds privacy protection directly into the panel, using AI to adjust viewing angles.

We have previously reported that Samsung’s next-generation privacy display technology is expected to debut with the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra. Now, new update hints that the tech may eventually find its way to Apple’s MacBook lineup. Here are more details on that.

MacBooks to Adopt Samsung’s Privacy Display

According to market research firm Omdia, cited by tipster UniverseIce @UniverseIce on X, Apple’s MacBooks could incorporate Samsung’s privacy-focused display technology around 2029. Samsung is set to debut the feature on the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which is scheduled to launch on February 25, 2026.

However, MacBook users may need to wait a few more years before seeing the technology on larger laptop screens.

The delay is reportedly linked to the complexity of scaling the innovation from a compact smartphone panel to a much larger laptop display. Adapting the technology while maintaining brightness, clarity, and colour accuracy on bigger screens could require additional development time.

Samsung’s Flex Magic Pixel Technology

Samsung has developed a new OLED-based solution called Flex Magic Pixel to enable built-in privacy protection. Unlike traditional removable plastic privacy filters, this technology is embedded directly into the display panel. It leverages AI to dynamically adjust viewing angles

When viewed head-on, the screen appears bright and clear. However, from side angles, the content turns black, making it difficult for others nearby to see what’s on display. This ensures that sensitive information such as messages, passwords, and notifications remains protected from shoulder surfers in public spaces.

Reports suggest the integrated privacy layer does not reportedly reduce image quality. Colours stay accurate, and overall screen brightness is preserved. Samsung is also expected to introduce software enhancements that allow users to customise privacy settings, including app-level visibility controls.

As for Samsung’s broader device lineup, current rumours indicate that the privacy display may remain exclusive to the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

FAQs

Q1. When could Apple MacBooks get Samsung’s privacy display technology?

Answer. According to Omdia, Apple MacBooks may adopt Samsung’s privacy-focused display around 2029, following its debut on the Galaxy S26 Ultra in 2026.

Q2. What is Samsung’s Flex Magic Pixel technology?

Answer. It’s an OLED-based solution that embeds privacy protection directly into the panel, using AI to adjust viewing angles, clear head-on, blacked out from the side.

Q3. Why is there a delay in bringing this technology to MacBooks?

Answer. Scaling the innovation from smaller smartphone panels to larger laptop screens requires more development to maintain brightness, clarity, and colour accuracy.

Sony May Push PS6 Launch to 2029 Amid AI-Driven RAM Shortage: Report

0

Highlights

  • Sony may delay the PlayStation 6 launch to 2028 or 2029 due to persistent RAM and memory shortages driven by rising AI demand.
  • The shortages and rising component costs are impacting both Sony and Microsoft, with reports suggesting delays for next-gen Xbox as well.
  • Reports also suggest Nintendo is considering a possible price hike for the Switch 2 in 2026, though no final decision has been made.

Sony could reportedly delay the launch of its next-generation gaming console, the PlayStation 6. Earlier rumours did suggest a 2027 debut for the PS6, but it appears that timeline won’t be holding up due to multiple ongoing industry issues. Here are more details on that.

PS6 Launch Timeline May Shift to 2029?

According to a report from Bloomberg, citing sources familiar with the matter, Sony is evaluating the possibility of pushing the PlayStation 6 launch window due to persistent memory supply constraints and increasing component costs.

The ongoing RAM and memory shortages fuelled largely by rising AI demand mayforce the company to postpone its release timeline to 2028 or even 2029.

Just last month, an industry analyst suggested that the PS6 could be delayed beyond 2028 as Sony considers extending the lifecycle of the PlayStation 5. Now, the Bloomberg report claims the next-generation console could arrive in 2028 or even as late as 2029.

If Sony proceeds with a delay beyond 2027, it would break the company’s established seven-year release cycle for its home consoles. It is a pattern that has been consistent since the PlayStation 3 era. Just to recall, the PS5 and the Xbox Series S/Xbox Series X were both launched in 2020 and are now approaching six years in the market.

AI Demand Driving Memory Shortages

The reported delay is largely attributed to a growing chip and memory crunch caused by increased demand for AI infrastructure. The surge in artificial intelligence workloads has significantly impacted RAM and memory availability.

An earlier report from Insider Gaming in December also claimed that the escalating chip crisis could delay both the PS6 and the next-generation Xbox. Rising RAM and memory prices have reportedly become a concern for major platform holders such as Sony and Microsoft.

Although Sony has not officially confirmed its plans for the PS6, the company is widely believed to be actively developing the console. Leaks last year suggested that both the PS6 and the next Xbox could launch in 2027.

Nintendo Switch 2 Price Hike Rumours

The Bloomberg report also touched on developments at Nintendo. The company is reportedly considering a potential price increase for the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026. The console launched last year in the US at $449.99 and has since sold more than 17 million units globally.

Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa recently addressed concerns about rising component prices and their impact on hardware profitability. “We do not disclose details regarding individual components, but we can say that we are working to secure stable supplies of memory components by holding discussions from a long-term perspective with our business partners,” Furukawa explained.

He further added, “As for any future change in the price of Nintendo Switch 2 hardware, no decision has been made at this time. Any decision to change the price will be determined comprehensively, taking into consideration not only profitability, but also other factors like the platform’s installed base, sales trends, and the market environment,Furukawa added.

FAQ

Q1. Why might Sony delay the launch of the PlayStation 6?

Q2. How would a PS6 delay affect Sony’s usual console release cycle?

Answer. If Sony delays beyond 2027, it would break its established seven-year release cycle that has been consistent since the PlayStation 3 era. The PS5, launched in 2020, is now approaching six years in the market.

Q3. What is happening with Nintendo’s next console, the Switch 2?

Answer. Nintendo is reportedly considering a price increase for the Switch 2 in 2026 due to rising component costs, though no final decision has been made. The company has sold over 17 million units globally since its launch at $449.99.

Design and Build Quality

The latest NU REPUBLIC Pop Love Wireless Speaker looks like what it is supposed to look like. The design is perfect as a cute little gift on Valentine’s Day. The bold “love” inscription on top definitely gives it a bit of character and vibe for the occasion.

It has a compact, cylindrical shape that’s small enough to slip into a bag or even a pocket. This size feels convenient and fuss-free if you’re someone who likes to take your music with you outdoors or just moving around the house.

The speaker is entirely made of plastic, but no complaints from us on that because that’s pretty much what you expect in this price segment. The build quality is decent and sturdy enough for casual daily use without feeling fragile. The speakers are sweat and splash resistant. So, it might not survive swimming pools or heavy rain, but it does offer some peace of mind if you’re using it near water or taking it along on outdoor trips.

It might take a bit of getting used to the placement of the control buttons. The controls are positioned at the bottom of the speaker and not on the usual side or top. So when you first pick it up, you might find yourself flipping it over to play and pause, adjust volume, or skip tracks. However, we felt after using it for a few times and it won’t be a great issue.

All in all, the Pop Love live up to the name design wise. We surely loved the compact, lightweight build without any complicated jazzy elements.

Sound Quality

The NU REPUBLIC Pop Love packs 52mm neodymium drivers with X-Bass technology and delivers 6W of output. On paper, that might not sound huge, but we were surprised that the speaker gets surprisingly loud for its size. The volume is more than enough for a small room, a desk setup, or even a casual outdoor hangout.

The bass is present and controlled. It doesn’t overpower the track, but it also doesn’t have the deep rumbling feel you’d get from more expensive speakers. The X-Bass feature does add a bit of punch and energy for bass-heavy tracks. It definitely makes whatever music you are hearing feel more lively.

We did, however, feel that the speakers fell a little short in the mids. Vocals and instruments can sometimes lack clarity when the volume is pushed higher. We also noticed some distortions creeping in when played at max volume. So, we would recommend playing it at moderate volume because that’s when it sounds best.

The Pop Love performs well for casual listening. Considering the price segment, it’s clearly not built for audiophiles. As long as you are using it for everyday music, podcasts, or background tunes, it does a decent job.

Connectivity, Battery and Features

Pop Love supports Bluetooth connectivity. The connection remains stable and we didn’t experience any random drops. Pairing is quick too and it stays locked in as long as you’re within a reasonable range once connected. It works without any fuss for casual listening at home or outdoors.

One really cool feature here is True Wireless Stereo (TWS) support. This means you can pair two Pop Love speakers together and create a stereo setup. It is surely a pretty cool addition for a budget speaker. We tried creating a stereo setup and it does make a noticeable difference if you want wider sound.

Battery life is claimed at up to 15 hours on a full charge. We tested it for the battery life in real life scenario and it went pretty close to that. The battery life you get will also depend on the volume at which you play it. In any case, it should comfortably last through a long day of casual listening. Charging takes around 2 hours, making it convenient for daily use.

Verdict – Should You Buy NU REPUBLIC Pop Love Wireless Speakers?

NU REPUBLIC Pop Love is a limited-edition portable speaker that is specifically designed for an occasion. That obviously doesn’t mean you can’t use or gift it otherwise. But it lives up to the name.

As a product in the sub-₹1,000 portable speaker segment, it focuses on being compact, loud enough, and easy to carry around. You get a pocket-friendly design, decent battery life, stable Bluetooth connectivity and even True Wireless Stereo support. The sound is good for casual listening with punchy bass for its size.

This isn’t a speaker for audiophiles or large gatherings, but if you’re just looking for an affordable speaker for personal use, it makes sense.

So, should you buy it? If you want a lightweight, budget-friendly Bluetooth speaker for everyday casual listening, the NU REPUBLIC Pop Love offers solid value for the money. Or if you are simply looking for a special gift this February.
