WhatsApp Tests AI Chat Summaries and Writing Help for Better Messaging

0

Highlights

  • WhatsApp is testing an AI-powered feature that summarises unread messages in chats, groups, and channels.
  • The feature is currently available only on the Android beta version.
  • The AI summary is processed securely in an isolated cloud environment and deleted after use.
  • A new Writing Help feature is also in development to allow users to refine the tone or clarity of messages before sending.

WhatsApp is working on a new AI-powered feature that can summarise unread messages in your chats, groups and channels. It’s similar to Apple’s notification summaries. But unlike Apple Intelligence being only available on select devices, WhatsApp’s version could reach a wider audience. Here’s what we know so far.

WhatsApp AI Chat Summaries

image

Caption – WhatsApp testing AI-powered feature to privately summarise messages in chats and groups. (Screenshot credit – WABetaInfo)

The feature was spotted by a trusted WhatsApp beta source WABetaInfo for the first time post the Android 2.25.18.18 update. According to their report, it is currently being tested on Android and is an opt-in tool called Private Processing.

Once turned on, if you have a bunch of unread messages, you’ll see a new “Summarise with Meta AI” button instead of the usual “X unread messages” label. Tap it, and you’ll get a short summary of the missed conversation.

WhatsApp says that your messages aren’t stored or tied to your identity. The AI summary happens in an isolated cloud environment and is deleted right after processing. Also, if a chat has Advanced Privacy enabled, the summarisation feature won’t work, AI won’t interact with those messages at all.

As of now, this feature is only available for some users on the Android beta version and is being rolled out slowly. There’s no word yet on when it will be available on iOS or what languages and regions it will support.

Meanwhile, rumours suggest that another feature in the works is Writing Help. This AI tool would let users tweak the tone or clarity of their messages before hitting send. It will also use the same Private Processing setup to keep everything secure and private.

FAQs

Q1. What is WhatsApp’s new AI-powered summarisation feature?

Answer. WhatsApp is testing an AI-powered tool called Private Processing, which summarises unread messages in chats, groups, and channels. If enabled, users will see a “Summarise with Meta AI” button, allowing them to review missed conversations quickly.

Q2. How does WhatsApp ensure privacy when using AI summaries?

Answer. WhatsApp ensures privacy by processing AI summaries in an isolated cloud environment, deleting them immediately after use. The summaries are not stored or tied to a user’s identity. Additionally, messages in chats with Advanced Privacy enabled will not be summarised.

Q3. What is the WhatsApp Writing Help feature, and how will it work?

Answer. Writing Help is an upcoming AI tool designed to help users adjust the tone or clarity of their messages before sending. Like the summarisation feature, it will use Private Processing to keep interactions secure and private.

At WWDC 2025, Apple had plenty to showcase from major iOS 26 software updates to sneak peeks at new hardware. But one of the more exciting announcements was the launch of Apple’s first dedicated gaming app, marking a big step in its push toward serious gaming on all its platforms.

Apple’s New Gaming App

As part of its growing focus on gaming, Apple introduced a new gaming app that will be available on iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and tvOS. This app is designed to be a central hub where users can discover, access, and manage all their games in one place.

Whether it’s titles from the App Store or content from Apple Arcade, the app pulls everything together into a more immersive and organised experience.

image

The gaming app will come pre-installed with the next round of OS updates rolling out later this year. Features include achievements, leaderboards, notifications, and recent player activity, giving it a feel closer to a social gaming platform than a simple utility.

Mac users will also be able to track and launch games installed outside the App Store, which is a big plus.

Part of Apple’s Bigger Gaming Push

This move is in line with Apple’s broader gaming strategy. The company recently acquired RAC7 Games, creators of Sneaky Sasquatch, and has been bringing console-level games like Death Stranding, Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Resident Evil Village to the iPhone.

Unlike the older Game Centre, this new app feels more complete. It’s not just about tracking scores, it’s about connecting with friends, discovering new games, and jumping straight into gameplay, all from one sleek interface.

Moreover, it promises to make gaming on Apple devices smoother and more unified than ever with deep Apple Arcade integration and support for your entire App Store game history.

FAQs

Q1. What is Apple’s new gaming app, and what does it do?

Answer. Apple’s gaming app is a central hub for discovering, accessing, and managing all games on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV, integrating both App Store titles and Apple Arcade.

Q2. How is the Apple gaming app different from the old Game Centre?

Answer. Unlike Game Centre, the new app offers achievements, leaderboards, notifications, and recent player activity, making it feel more like a complete gaming platform.

Q3. When will the Apple gaming app be available to users?

Answer. The app will come pre-installed with upcoming OS updates later this year, offering a unified experience across Apple devices.

The next OnePlus Nord phones might be just around the corner. According to tipster Yogesh Brar’s now deleted post on X (formerly Twitter), the OnePlus Nord 5 and OnePlus Nord CE 5 are expected to launch in India on July 8.

While OnePlus hasn’t officially confirmed anything yet, leaks have already given us a good idea of what to expect from both phones. Here’s what we know about both phones so far.

OnePlus Nord 5 – What To Expect?

The OnePlus Nord 5 could be a big step up from its predecessor. It’s rumored to come with MediaTek’s powerful Dimensity 9400e chipset, the same chip used in the Realme GT 7. If true, this would make it a solid performer, even rivalling some Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 phones. That’s a serious jump from the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chip found in the Nord 4.

The Nord 5 is also tipped to feature a massive 7,000mAh battery, a big upgrade over the 5,500mAh unit in the Nord 4. It’s said to support 100W fast charging, which should make topping up quick despite the large battery. If you’re into gaming or heavy usage, this will be a huge plus.

Display-wise, it might sport a flat OLED panel with 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, likely with an in-display fingerprint sensor. It’s unclear if the screen size will remain the same as the 6.74-inch display on the Nord 4, given the larger battery.

Design leaks suggest a glass back and plastic frame, moving away from the Nord 4’s more durable metal body. Whether that affects the in-hand feel or durability remains to be seen. On the camera front, expect the same setup as the Nord 4, which includes a 50MP main camera, 8MP ultra-wide and a 16MP front shooter.

OnePlus Nord CE 5 – What To Expect?

The Nord CE 5 is rumoured to come with a 6.7-inch flat OLED display, 120Hz refresh rate, and MediaTek Dimensity 8350 chipset. It could pack 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

Camera specs look familiar, which could include a 50MP main sensor, 8MP ultra-wide, and 16MP front camera. It may also feature a 7,100mAh battery with 80W fast charging.

OnePlus Nord 5 and Nord CE 5 – Expected Price in India

The Nord 5 is expected to be priced under Rs 35,000, though it could land closer to Rs 30,000 during launch offers. For comparison, the Nord 4 launched at Rs 29,999, but considering the performance and battery upgrades, a slightly higher price tag wouldn’t be surprising.

As for the Nord CE 5, pricing could be around Rs 25,000, in line with the Rs 24,999 price tag of the Nord CE 4.

While none of this is official yet, we can expect more details to surface as we get closer to the launch date.

FAQS

Q1. When are the OnePlus Nord 5 and Nord CE 5 expected to launch in India?

Answer. According to leaks, both phones are tipped to launch on July 8, though OnePlus has not officially confirmed the date yet.

Q2. What are the key upgrades in the OnePlus Nord 5?

Answer. The Nord 5 is expected to feature MediaTek Dimensity 9400e chipset, a 7,000mAh battery with 100W fast charging, and a flat 1.5K OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate.

Q3. What will be the expected price of the OnePlus Nord 5 and Nord CE 5 in India?

Answer. The Nord 5 is expected to be priced under ₹35,000, while the Nord CE 5 may launch around ₹25,000, based on leaked information.

Snapchat is finally getting ready to bring its next-generation AR Spectacles to the public. At Augmented World Expo 2025, the company announced that a new, more lightweight and immersive version of its AR glasses will launch in 2026.

The Snapchat AR glasses are now officially called Specs.

The new Snap Specs promise a much more refined experience. As Snap describes them, they’re “an ultra-powerful wearable computer integrated into a lightweight pair of glasses, featuring see-through Lenses that enhance the physical world with digital experiences.”

Unlike the older version, these don’t need a compute puck or external battery, everything is built into the glasses.

Sharing more about the Snap Specs, co-founder and CEO of Snap Inc Evan Spiegel said, “We believe the time is right for a revolution in computing that naturally integrates our digital experiences with the physical world, and we can’t wait to publicly launch our new Specs next year. We couldn’t be more excited about the extraordinary progress in artificial intelligence and augmented reality that is enabling new, human-centered computing experiences. We believe Specs are the most advanced personal computer in the world, and we can’t wait for you to see for yourself.”

Last year’s fifth-gen Snap Spectacles were only available to developers, and while they weren’t meant for public release, they gave early users a chance to build AR lenses. Those dev-only versions were a bit bulky and relied on external hardware, but they served as a stepping stone for what’s coming next.

On the software side, Snap OS, the operating system powering these AR Specs is also getting a bunch of important upgrades. These include –

  • Deeper integrations with OpenAI and Gemini on Google Cloud
  • A Depth Module API that helps anchor AR elements in 3D space using 2D data from large language models
  • Automated Speech Recognition API supporting real-time transcription in over 40 languages
  • A new Snap3D API that lets developers create 3D objects instantly within lenses

Snap is also rolling out tools for developers including fleet management to control multiple Specs units, a Guided Mode for easier demos and Guided Navigation, which allows for creating AR-powered tours in real-world locations.

With these new Specs, Snap seems to be aiming for a much more polished and useful AR experience, something that’s lightweight, smarter and finally ready for everyday users.
