Tecno has officially unveiled its Tecno Spark 40 series. The lineup features three models, the Spark 40, Spark 40 Pro, and the top-end Spark 40 Pro+. The Spark 40 Pro+ is the first smartphone to launch with MediaTek’s new Helio G200 processor. It comes with 8GB RAM and either 128GB or 256GB storage.

The phone features a 6.78-inch curved AMOLED display with a 1220p+ resolution and a super smooth 144Hz refresh rate. There’s also an under-display fingerprint scanner and a 13MP front camera.

At the back, you get a 50MP main camera, along with a secondary sensor. Powering the phone is a 5,200mAh battery, which supports 45W wired, 30W wireless, and 5W reverse wireless charging.

According to a new report, the device is on track for a possible launch in the second half of 2026 with early prototypes already being tested. The foldable iPhone is said to have reached the P1 (Prototype 1) stage last month, which is when Apple builds fully functional hardware units for initial testing. Before this, Apple typically goes through a series of mockups and breadboard models to fine-tune the design and internals.

Although reaching the P1 stage is a key step, it’s still early. There are two more prototype phases to go before the device can enter the EVT (Engineering Validation Test) phase, where Apple checks if the design can be mass-produced effectively.

The reveal comes from a latest Digitimes report, which states, “Apple has quietly entered the early stages of developing its long-rumored foldable iPhone, with supply chain sources confirming that the company began its initial P1 (Prototype 1) phase in June. If everything stays on track, the device could complete prototype testing by the end of 2025 and proceed to the Engineering Verification Test (EVT) stage, setting the stage for a possible launch in the second half of 2026.”

As expected, Apple is sticking to its “best, not first” philosophy. While other companies have already released foldable phones (some with visible issues like display creases), Apple is reportedly working hard to eliminate that flaw entirely.

In fact, Apple is pushing its display partner Samsung to create a screen that’s more advanced than the one used in Samsung’s own foldables.

iPhone Fold – Specs Still Not Finalised

While official specifications are still undecided, a leaker has shared some early details. The iPhone Fold is rumoured to feature a titanium body, a 7.58-inch display, and dual 48MP rear cameras.

Some reports believe that the design language seen in the upcoming iPhone 17 Air could have served as a testing ground or design preview for the foldable iPhone.

While the iPhone Fold is moving ahead, Apple’s other foldable project known as the iPad Fold appears to be on pause. The same Digitimes report suggests that development of the foldable iPad has been halted, at least for now.

Aaron Lee and Sherri Wang write at Digitimes, “Sources familiar with the matter say Apple had also been exploring a foldable iPad alongside the iPhone. However, the company has decided to pause progress on the larger foldable device for the time being. Industry experts attribute this decision to manufacturing difficulties, increased production expenses—particularly related to flexible display technology—and a relatively modest consumer demand for larger foldable devices.”

Previously, predictions for its launch varied widely. Analyst Jeff Pu expected it in 2026, while Mark Gurman believed we might not see it before 2028 or later. Now, the longer timeline seems more likely, assuming it even launches at all.

As of now, Apple seems to be waiting to see how the iPhone Fold performs before committing to two foldable products. As noted in the report, demand for large foldables like tablets hasn’t been very strong yet.

If the iPhone Fold turns out to be a success next year, Apple may revisit and finalise the specs for the iPad Fold in time for a potential 2028 release.

Honor has launched its latest foldable smartphone, the Honor Magic V5, at the recent AI Ecosystem event in China. The brand introduced the device as the world’s thinnest and lightest foldable flagship. When folded, the phone is just 8.8mm thick and weighs only 217 grams, which is incredibly slim and light for a foldable. Here’s everything we know about the phone.

The Magic V5 opens up to a 7.95-inch inner OLED display with a resolution of 2352×2172. On the outside, there’s a 6.43-inch OLED screen at 2376×1060. Both displays support a 120Hz LTPO refresh rate, DCI-P3 color, 10.7 billion colors, and a stunning 5000 nits peak brightness for HDR content.

Honor has added 4320Hz PWM dimming to reduce eye strain, along with AI-powered motion sickness reduction and colour consistency between both screens. The outer display uses next-gen Giant Rhinoceros glass for better durability. It offers 3× better wear resistance, 10× better drop resistance and 15× better scratch resistance.

A second leaked image shows a smart wristband called Ceres, which may come bundled with the glasses. This eMG wristband uses sensors to detect muscle signals from your wrist to control the glasses.

Using the Ceres band, users could perform actions like –

Pinching the index finger and thumb to scroll or select
Rotating the wrist to navigate
Possibly even handwriting input, though that feature may not be ready at launch

Meta is also said to be testing tap and swipe-based controls, giving users multiple ways to interact with the glasses.

Meanwhile, early firmware reveals a mini-game called Hypertrail, which reportedly takes inspiration from the classic arcade game Galaga. This could be a fun, built-in extra on the smart glasses.

Reports suggest that the device will run on a highly customised Android version, and will likely feature a single display located in the lower right corner of the right lens.

Meta is giving Threads some long-awaited independence from Instagram. The app is officially rolling out its own direct messaging (DMs) and a new visual highlights feature called Threads Highlighter. These updates are launching just in time for the platform’s second anniversary. Threads first went live on July 5, 2023.

Announcing the rollout, the company said, “More than a third of daily Threads users with connections follow mostly different accounts on Threads than on Instagram, showing that Threads is establishing its own unique user base.”

Threads’ DMs Are Here

Since Threads launched, users have been asking for direct messaging, and it’s finally happening. But there are a few ground rules for now. First, DMs are not encrypted. Also, you can only send messages to people who follow you back on Threads, or mutual followers from Instagram. Both users also need to be over 18.

While most leaks have focused on the Nord 5, OnePlus has now officially revealed key specs of the mid-range OnePlus Nord CE 5. Here’s what we know about the phone.

The OnePlus Nord CE 5 will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Apex chipset, paired with the Mali-G615 GPU for graphics. It’s an octa-core processor that can go up to 3.35GHz and is built to offer a good balance between performance and efficiency. The device also comes with LPDDR5X RAM for faster multitasking.

Toncoin, which can be added through Fragment
