5G-enabled smartphones have become a common offering across varied price brackets.
While most mid-tier smartphones now include 5G compatibility, the below Rs 10,000 segment has been relatively untouched.
However, this landscape is poised to change with itel’s forthcoming entry.
itel, a subsidiary of Transsion Holdings, is gearing up to introduce a 5G phone priced below Rs 10,000, filling the existing gap in the affordable segment.
Named itel P55 5G, this phone is anticipated to make its appearance just before the festive rush.
As per a report by 91mobiles, industry insiders have confirmed its sub-Rs 10,000 price point.
If the speculations hold, this will earmark itel P55 5G as the most budget-friendly 5G phone in India.
itel has timed the release for the close of September, with further details set to emerge in the upcoming days.
Interestingly, this would mark itel’s maiden voyage into the 5G smartphone segment. Arijeet Talapatra, itel’s CEO, had earlier teased about the brand’s 5G endeavors for 2023.
Historically, itel has been recognized for its budget smartphones, predominantly priced below Rs 8,000, and its value-driven tablet at Rs 12,999.
The introduction of itel P55 5G is in line with the brand’s ethos of delivering value to the Indian consumer.
Preliminary glimpses of the itel P55 5G suggest a dual camera setup on the rear, positioned vertically.
The design showcases curved sides, accompanied by a power button and volume controls located on the right side.
itel, with its latest brand vision, #JodeIndiaKaHarDilitel, emphasises its dedication to harnessing technology to touch and enrich the lives of Indians.
As per Counterpoint Research, the company holds a notable presence in the sub-Rs 8,000 category by offering a range of 4G smartphones and enjoys a significant retention rate, especially among first-time buyers.
