iPhone 14 Subjected to Battery Replacement; Details Inside

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The iPhone 14’s battery repair will be 43 percent more expensive than last year’s model.
  • Apple will reportedly charge $99 in the US.
  • The increase in price of the US market means that other regions will also see a price hike.

How would you feel if you’re facing major issues in your smartphones within just days of purchasing it? And that too from an Apple iPhone? And from one which has been released mere few days back? Here, we are going to look at one of the biggest problems that iPhone 14 series smartphone users are facing.

Brief Summary

The iPhone 14 series was launched at the ‘Far Out’ event with four different variants- iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max, which were of similar design as the iPhone 13 series.

iPhone 14 has been receiving polarizing reviews since its release as the design is not the only issue that users are facing as there’s a lot more than that. One of the bigger issues, aside from the smaller ones, is that many users claim that the battery drains out abnormally fast on their handsets.

It isn’t a one-off example and has been a constant issue that users are facing ever since they purchased the device some weeks back. It is the case with both Pro and non-pro models and even users are baffled that Apple iPhones are facing such grave issues and that too mere weeks after their launch.

There are speculations from certain users that the iOS 16 optimization is to blame for the abysmal battery performance of the iPhone 14 models but the root cause of the issue is still being worked out by Apple although they’re claiming that battery life is affected due to turning on the Haptic keyboard.

In the meantime, the iPhone 14 battery is being replaced and the repair cost will be 43% more costly than that of iPhone 13 series as Apple has made it clear that it will charge $99, which is approximately Rs.7,840, as battery replacement cost in the new iPhones.

The iPhone 13 price was $69, approximately Rs.5,460, which is a $30 increase by the company when compared to the previous year. It needs to be mentioned that iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 have, more or less, similar battery units under their hood, which is why the price should be around the same and not so high.

The iPhone 14 battery power was reported to be 3,279 units while the older models were 3,227mAh units so it can be seen that the battery unit has been very similar in terms of capacity, which also holds true for other iPhone 14 models as well.

This exorbitant repair cost has completely baffled users who simply can’t fathom why Apple is charging so much for newly released models and if US prices are this high, then one can expect massive price hikes in other countries as well like UK, for example, where the battery replacing for iPhone 14 will be EUR 105, approximately Rs.9,740.

Apple Care+ Subscription

There are certain iPhones that fall under the Apple Care+ Protection or have completed the one year warranty period so the aforementioned prices are for those models that don’t fall in those categories while the Apple Care+ subscription will give coverage in case the device is accidentally damaged upon handling.

Apple has made sure that the fiscal affairs are in order as it the service fee of Rs.2,500 for back glass damage or screen replacement while the fee for accidental damage will be Rs.8,900 and the back glass damage service fee is only for iPhone 12, iPhone 13, and iPhone 14 models.

Apple Care+ cost for the three models will be Rs.17,900 that will have a validity of two years while the subscription cost for iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will be Rs.28,900 while for iPhone 14 Plus the subscription for Apple Care+ is Rs.21,900.
