The event will serve as a platform for Google to showcase its latest advancements across AI, Android, web and cloud technologies.
Google’s official blog post reads, “Join us live on May 20 and 21 from Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View and online at io.google. At I/O, you’ll learn more about Google’s newest products, technologies, and innovations in AI, Android and more.”
This year’s conference is expected to focus heavily on artificial intelligence with likely announcements around Android 16, Google’s AI chatbots and new generative AI tools. There could also be updates on Wear OS, Google Maps and other key services within Google’s ecosystem.
The event will kick off with the Google Keynote, delivered by CEO Sundar Pichai, followed by the Developer Keynote. Across the two days, attendees can expect breakout sessions, product demos, Q&As, and networking opportunities.
Interestingly, Google I/O 2025 overlaps with Microsoft Build, another major developer event. Microsoft’s conference runs from May 19 to May 22 and is also expected to focus on AI innovations.
To recall, the I/O event of 2024 focused on as many as 100 announcements, which included the Gemini 1.5 models, the Project Astra AI assistant, the Imagen 3 image generation model and more.
Meanwhile, Sundar Pichai met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the AI Action Summit in Paris, where global leaders gathered to discuss AI’s future.
Pichai shared his thoughts on X (formerly Twitter) saying, “Delighted to meet with PM @narendramodi today while in Paris for the AI Action Summit. We discussed the incredible opportunities AI will bring to India and ways we can work closely together on India’s digital transformation.”
