Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7 is already creating buzz thanks to its larger outer display. However, a new leak now suggests the phone might also be thinner than before. Here’s what we know.

The image, shared by reliable leaker Evan Blass @evleaks on X (formerly Twitter) in his latest newsletter, doesn’t reveal a whole lot that’s new at first glance. You can clearly see the larger cover display, which is the main upgrade, along with a fresh blue colour variant that stands out.
But look closely, and the phone does seem thinner. If you compare the SIM tray placement between the Flip 7 and the Flip 6, you’ll notice there’s less space between the tray and the edge of the phone. That could mean Samsung has slimmed down the Flip 7’s profile, unless they somehow made the SIM tray thicker, which seems unlikely.
That would be a welcome change, especially since flip phones like the Z Flip series haven’t focused much on reducing thickness, unlike their book-style foldable counterparts.
That said, we still can’t say for sure. Earlier leaks suggested the unfolded Z Flip 7 will measure 6.84mm thick, which is basically the same as the Flip 6. Mistakes have happened in past leaks, so it’s wise not to get too excited just yet.

Another source, Setsuna Digital on Weibo, claims the closed thickness will be 13.7mm, down from 14.9mm on the previous model. If true, that’s a decent improvement.
In the meantime, reservations are open for both the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7. Samsung is offering a $50 credit, up to $1,150+ in savings, 3x reward points, and more. Signing up is free and you’re not obligated to buy anything, but the bonus perks are only available with a reservation.
