Samsung’s Galaxy S24 Ultra, part of the company’s upcoming flagship lineup, is poised to make a significant impact with its anticipated release in January 2024.
Recent reports have shed light on various aspects of the device, including its camera capabilities and expected market performance.
One thing that concerned many Samsung fans was that the company was perhaps considering removing its 10X periscope lens in favour of a larger sensor.
Now it seems that Samsung might just make a u-turn on that decision.
According to the latest report coming from The Elec, a big name in the smartphone supply-chain world, the S24 Ultra will feature a 200MP main camera sensor, an upgrade from the 200MP HPX sensor on the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
Additionally, it will include a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera, a new 50MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom, and more importantly a 10MP telephoto camera with 10x optical zoom.
Earlier it was predicted that the S24 Ultra would have a 3X and 5X combo with bigger lenses.
The continuation of the 10x optical zoom camera is a significant aspect of the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
This feature, first introduced with the Galaxy S21 Ultra in 2021, allows users to achieve up to 100x zoom while taking photos.
However, as with all things leaked, better to wait for the official launch than buy into rumours that are not yet substantiated.
Even so, the S24 Ultra is shaping up to be an enigmatic offering in the flagship world.
Specs include the Qualcomm Snapdragon Gen 3, up to 24GB of RAM, continued support of the S-Pen, a possible 144Hz display with QHD+ resolution, and more.
Regarding sales expectations, Samsung projects the Galaxy S24 Ultra to account for a substantial portion of the company’s smartphone sales in 2024.
As per reports, Galaxy S24 Ultra is estimated to constitute about 45% of the total sales volume of the Galaxy S24 series.
In contrast, the Galaxy S24 Plus is expected to represent only 16% of the series’ sales, while the standard Galaxy S24 model is projected to account for approximately 38%.
These projections are based on the performance trends observed with previous models, such as the Galaxy S23 series.
The Galaxy S23 reportedly surpassed the sales of the Galaxy S22, indicating a positive trajectory for Samsung in the high-end smartphone market.
Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S25 Ultra is already generating buzz despite its expected launch being more than a year away.
The flagship model is rumoured to feature a groundbreaking 200MP primary camera, boasting a new 1-inch image sensor with 0.8µm pixels, dual-pixel autofocus, and an innovative in-sensor crop zoom.
In another strategic move, Samsung is reportedly planning to replace the 50MP ISOCELL GN3 image sensor, currently slated for the Galaxy S24 and S24+, with advanced Sony image sensors in the Galaxy S25 series.
Additionally, the company is considering advancing its launch schedule.
The Galaxy S24 series is expected to debut on January 17th, 2024, with a release date of January 30th.
This strategy aims to capture a larger market share earlier in the year.
Similarly, the S25 series might be introduced as early as December 2024.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is expected to significantly upgrade its camera system. Rumours suggest it will feature a 200MP main camera sensor, which is an improvement over the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s 200MP HPX sensor.
Additionally, it’s anticipated to include a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a new 50MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom.
Notably, the device is also expected to retain the 10MP telephoto camera with 10x optical zoom, a feature first introduced in the Galaxy S21 Ultra.
Beyond its advanced camera system, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is projected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon Gen 3 processor and may offer up to 24GB of RAM.
It’s also speculated to support the S-Pen, suggesting continuity in its hybrid design. The device might feature a 144Hz display with QHD+ resolution, ensuring top-tier visual performance.
Market projections for the Galaxy S24 Ultra are optimistic. Samsung estimates that the S24 Ultra could account for about 45% of the total sales volume of the Galaxy S24 series.
This expectation is based on the sales trends of previous models, such as the Galaxy S23 series, which reportedly surpassed the sales of the Galaxy S22.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 series, under the guidance of Ilhwan Lee from the MX Design Team, is expected to undergo a significant design refresh.
This change is anticipated to bring more innovative and possibly luxury-inspired aesthetics to the flagship series.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra is rumoured to feature a 200MP primary camera with a new 1-inch image sensor, 0.8µm pixels, dual-pixel autofocus, and in-sensor crop zoom, potentially setting a new standard for smartphone photography.
While the exact launch date is not confirmed, Samsung is considering releasing the Galaxy S25 series earlier than usual, potentially around December 2024, following the earlier launch of the Galaxy S24 series in January 2024.
It suggests that Samsung is in the final stages of preparing for the device’s launch, making it imminent.
The titanium frame would be a pioneering feature for Samsung, offering unparalleled strength and lightweight appeal compared to the current aluminum frames.
This premium material is anticipated to enhance the device’s durability while maintaining a sleek design.
If Samsung transitions to titanium, the frame cost could potentially increase by up to five times due to the higher price of titanium and production yield challenges.
However, the final impact on the retail price will depend on Samsung’s ability to manage these production costs effectively.
Samsung has reportedly set a target to manufacture 15 million titanium frames, which aligns with the number of Galaxy S23 Ultra units shipped.
This suggests a dedicated implementation of titanium frames for the Galaxy S24 Ultra, indicating the model’s exclusive and premium status.
While the outer frame of the S24 Ultra is rumored to be titanium, the inner frame is expected to remain aluminum.
This design choice mirrors the construction seen in certain premium iPhone models, balancing durability with cost-effectiveness.
The upcoming Galaxy S24 Ultra is expected to feature a long strip design for its bottom-firing speaker, replacing the six pill-shaped holes used in previous models.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra is expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, as per its recent Geekbench listing.
No, unlike previous models, the global variant of S24 Ultra seems to be skipping the Exynos chipset for the Snapdragon.
