Facebook has announced a significant redesign of its mobile app, introducing refreshed interfaces for the Feed, search, navigation and content creation tools. As part of this update, search results will now appear in a grid layout, and multiple photos in a post will also be displayed in a grid for improved viewing.

Additionally, Home, Reels, Friends, Marketplace, Notifications, and Profile tabs will now sit together in a single bar at the bottom of the screen.

Feed and Navigation Redesign

Facebook says it is making the Feed “simpler and more immersive,” allowing users to enjoy content more easily and engage with posts through shared interests. Multiple-photo posts will now appear in a uniform grid, photos can be liked with a double-tap and Feed items can be viewed full-screen when tapped.

The platform is also shifting its most-used features like Reels, Friends, Marketplace, and Profile front and centre on the tab bar for quicker access. The app will introduce a refreshed menu layout and cleaner tab notifications to help users navigate recent activity more efficiently.

Search results are also getting a major overhaul. The new grid-style layout supports all content types for a more visual experience. Facebook is testing a full-screen viewer that allows users to browse photo and video results without losing their place with plans to expand support for more content formats in the coming months.

Users will also be able to provide feedback on Posts or Reels they don’t prefer, helping Facebook refine future recommendations.

Content Creation Made Easier

The company has redesigned the creation tools for Stories and Feed posts to make them more intuitive. Popular options like adding music or tagging friends are now easier to access. Advanced features such as colored text backgrounds remain available with a single tap.

Commenting has also been improved across Feed, Groups, and Reels with streamlined replies, clearer badges and new pinning options for better conversation flow. Updated admin controls will help creators and group managers monitor discussions more effectively. Users can now anonymously flag comments that are off-topic or lack relevance.

Profiles Designed for Real Connections

Facebook is enhancing the way users discover people with shared interests. When someone updates their profile, the app will surface friends who have similar passions or may offer useful advice. For example, updating your profile with an interest in sourdough baking or upcoming plans to visit Nashville will prompt Facebook to highlight friends who can recommend starter tips or suggest travel spots.

These profile updates are intended to help people connect more deeply, from sharing hobbies and travel plans to highlighting what shows they’re watching or music they’re enjoying. Users can continue to control who sees each part of their profile and decide whether new updates appear on their Feed.

With this redesign, Facebook is aiming to refresh the user experience across discovery, navigation, conversations, and connections. It is aimed at making the app cleaner, more engaging, and more personalised.
