Tech billionaire Elon Musk announced the beta rollout of the X TV app.
The live-streaming app is specifically designed for smart TVs.
It will combine live content with viral videos.
In a post on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), Musk quoted a post from the engineering team confirming the development.
“TV app beta rolling out,” Musk quoted the original post.
X’s Engineering Team posted a preview of X TV on its X official handle Engineering @XEng.
The team posted, “The X TV app beta is now available on several app stores, with more platforms on the way 📺. Paired with our upcoming Video Tab, this marks a massive leap forward in transforming X into a video-first platform and unlocking new opportunities for creators, advertisers, and our partners.”

The app will be available on Google Play, LG’s app store, and Amazon App Store, supporting devices like Amazon Fire TV, LG webOS, Android TV, and Google TV.
Users need an X account to access the app, which offers features like Replay TV (72-hour content storage), Startover TV (restart live shows), and Free Cloud DVR (100 hours of content recording without extra fees with a Free Cloud DVR).
Many users have highlighted significant concerns about user privacy.
However, the app remains in its early stages with a possibility of these issues getting resolved in the future.
There is no official confirmation of X TV’s full release date yet.
However, the platform promises free content for now with upcoming exclusive content, live events, and news.
According to a Fortune report, Elon is positioning the X TV app on similar grounds to Google’s YouTube TV app.
Experts view it as a sign of Musk’s “intent to challenge the popular video-sharing platform.”
Musk is clearly taking a cautious approach with the gradual rollout plans.
The app is promising and aims to become a “digital town square on your TV.”
