In a move to make its product lineup more accessible, Apple has unveiled a cost-effective variant of its iconic Apple Pencil.
The new stylus, designed to offer compatibility with a variety of iPads including last year’s 10th-generation model, brings several useful features to the table without burning a hole in your pocket.
The budget-friendly Apple Pencil is priced at Rs 7,900 and will hit the shelves in early November.
For students and educators, Apple is providing an even more affordable option at Rs 6,900 as part of its education program.
This iteration of the Apple Pencil notably introduces USB-C charging, a feature that distinguishes it from its predecessors.
The USB-C port is concealed under a sliding cap, allowing for straightforward charging and iPad pairing.
This convenience comes without adding any bulk, as the new stylus maintains similar dimensions and weight to the Apple Pencil 2, measuring 7.5 x 155mm and weighing just 20.5 grams.
While it offers cost savings, the stylus does make certain compromises.
Unlike its higher-end sibling priced at Rs 11,900, this model lacks the luxury of pressure sensitivity and double-tap functionality for quick tool switching.
Also absent are wireless charging and pairing capabilities.
That said, the budget Apple Pencil isn’t devoid of advanced features.
It supports hover functionality, a trait particularly beneficial for those using M2 chip-equipped iPad Pros.
It also provides low latency, tilt sensitivity, and pixel precision, fulfilling the core needs of a varied user base.
The stylus is compatible with a range of iPads, including iPad Pro models from 2018 to 2022, iPad Air versions from 2020 to 2022, and the 2021 iPad mini.
When magnetically secured to an iPad, the Pencil automatically enters sleep mode to save battery life.
The new Apple Pencil is priced at Rs 7,900, with a discounted price of Rs 6,900 for students and educators.
