iQOO is preparing a significant display upgrade for its next flagship smartphone, the iQOO 16. A company executive has teased the upcoming phone’s display technology and hinted that it could improve significantly compared to its predecessor, the iQOO 15 series. Here’s what we know based on recent update.
iQOO 16 Display Could Improve Brightness and Efficiency
Wang Ken, Product Manager for iQOO’s flagship series, has discussed the importance of display brightness in everyday smartphone use, particularly when viewing the screen under different lighting conditions.

He noted that finding the right balance between brightness, power consumption and long-term endurance has traditionally been challenging.
According to the executive, iQOO addressed this challenge with the 2K LEAD OLED panels used on the iQOO 15 and iQOO 15 Ultra. He said the technology has achieved a strong balance between these factors and continues to stay ahead of competing display solutions. Wang Ken also teased that the iQOO 16 will take things even further, although he did not reveal specific details about the upcoming panel.
The iQOO 15 introduced Samsung Display’s 2K LEAD OLED technology with M14 luminous material. Its display supports a 144Hz refresh rate, up to 2,600 nits of global peak brightness, up to 1,000 nits of manual brightness and a minimum brightness of 1 nit. The iQOO 15 Ultra uses the same display technology but increases local peak brightness to up to 8,000 nits.
iQOO 16 Tipped to Get 2K 165Hz Display
A recent leak from reliable tipster Digital Chat Station has provided more details about the iQOO 16’s display. According to the leak, the smartphone is being tested with a 6.85-inch display featuring 2K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate. The panel is reportedly being supplied by Samsung Display. If these details are accurate, the iQOO 16 would continue the company’s focus on using high-end display hardware in its flagship smartphones.
The upcoming iQOO Neo 12 is also expected to receive a 2K display. The phone is reportedly being tested with a 6.83-inch Visionox panel, which could support a refresh rate of either 165Hz or 185Hz. This suggests that smooth and high-refresh-rate displays will be a major focus across iQOO’s upcoming lineup.
The iQOO 16 and iQOO Neo 12 are expected to launch in China around late September or early October.
With the launch approaching, more information about their displays and other specifications could surface soon.
