Why Are Smartphone Brands Increasing Prices?

The latest iQOO and Redmi price hike isn’t surprising to anyone keeping tabs on the smartphone industry. The move comes at a time when smartphone brands are facing higher memory costs. Memory manufacturers have been giving greater priority to higher-margin AI server chips, which has tightened the supply of DRAM and NAND memory used in smartphones.

This has pushed memory prices higher and several smartphone brands have already revised their prices during 2026. Buyers could see further price adjustments across smartphone brands if memory costs remain elevated.
