Fresh leaks about the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max suggest that Apple may introduce major display upgrades next year. Reports indicate that Samsung Display and LG Display are likely to become the main suppliers for the premium OLED panels. Meanwhile, new CAD renders have once again sparked speculation about changes to the Dynamic Island design. Here’s more on recent reports.

iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max – Samsung and LG Tipped to Supply LTPO+ Displays

According to a recent report by The Elec, Apple is expected to finalise OLED panel approvals for the iPhone 18 Pro series later this month. Samsung Display and LG Display will be key players in the panel supply chain for the upcoming iPhone models.

Meanwhile, Chinese display maker BOE has reportedly been left out of the premium-tier supply chain despite previously securing some panel orders for the iPhone 17 Pro lineup.

The report claims that BOE faced quality and production yield issues related to its lower-temperature polycrystalline oxide-plus (LTPO+) display technology when compared to the South Korean manufacturers.

The upcoming iPhone 18 Pro models are expected to use LTPO+ display technology, which could offer better power efficiency compared to the current LTPO panels used in the iPhone 17 series. The technology may also help improve battery life by allowing finer control over OLED light emission and enabling the display to optimise performance based on surrounding conditions.

Under-Display Face ID Could Reduce Dynamic Island Size

Earlier reports from South Korean publication ETNews suggested that Apple may use under-screen infrared technology from Samsung for the iPhone 18 Pro models. This could allow some Face ID components to move beneath the display.

If implemented, Apple may be able to reduce the size of the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 18 Pro lineup. However, reports remain divided on whether the company will actually make this design change.

New iPhone 18 Pro CAD Leak Revives Dynamic Island Speculation

A fresh set of alleged CAD renders of the iPhone 18 Pro has now surfaced online and reignited discussions around the future of the Dynamic Island.

The images were shared on X by user @earlyappleleaks and claimed that the new CAD confirms the smaller Dynamic Island of the iPhone 18 Pro.”

CAD renders are often based on technical schematics shared with case manufacturers and accessory makers before launch. However, the authenticity of this particular leak remains uncertain as the source is relatively new.

Previously, the same account shared images of an alleged iPhone 18 Pro prototype showing a smaller Dynamic Island and what appeared to be a Face ID sensor positioned under the display. Moving Face ID components beneath the screen could allow Apple to slim down the Dynamic Island area.

Over the past year, multiple leaks have offered conflicting information regarding the iPhone 18 Pro design. Some reports claimed Apple could replace the Dynamic Island with a hole-punch camera and under-display Face ID system, while others suggested the company would simply reduce the size of the existing cutout.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, along with several well-known Weibo tipsters, recently suggested that Apple may shrink the Dynamic Island but not remove it entirely. Similar rumours also surfaced before the launch of the iPhone 17 Pro series although the Dynamic Island ultimately remained unchanged in size.

More recently, Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station claimed that the iPhone 18 Pro may not feature a smaller Dynamic Island after all with the redesign possibly delayed until the iPhone 19 lineup.

Apple’s Launch Plans

The iPhone 18 Pro series is expected to launch later this year alongside Apple’s first foldable iPhone.

Reports also suggest that Apple may adopt a split launch cycle strategy with the standard iPhone 18 models arriving early next year instead of launching together with the Pro variants.
