If recent reports are of any indication, it seems Xiaomi might be revisiting the secondary display on the back design idea for one of its future phones. We have previously seen this rear display on the Mi 11 Ultra. Here’s what reports say.
Recent leaks suggest that the company is working on a new smartphone codenamed “Pandora,” which could feature a secondary screen on the back. As we mentioned above, it will be similar to what we saw in the Mi 11 Ultra.
The first hints came last month from a leak by popular tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo. DCS claimed the phone would have a horizontal rear display next to the camera module. Now, more evidence has surfaced, this time from Xiaomi’s own software.
The latest version of HyperOS includes code references to a device with the model name “Pandora” and model number Q200. Most interestingly, there’s a direct mention of sub-screen display support, pointing towards a second screen on the back.
Xiaomi hasn’t launched a dual-display phone since the Mi 11 Ultra, which had a small rear screen for viewing notifications, framing selfies, and more. While the feature didn’t catch on widely, it looks like Xiaomi is ready to give it another shot.
According to earlier leaks, the Q200 is expected to be the top-end model in the upcoming Xiaomi 16 series, positioned above the Xiaomi 16 Ultra. It might even replace the Xiaomi 15 Pro’s spot in the lineup. Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 16 and 16 Pro are rumoured to be more compact models.
There’s no official word yet and hardware specs are still under wraps. The full model number 25098PN5AC doesn’t reveal much either.
Leaks suggest the Q200 could launch in September, alongside the Xiaomi 16 and 16 Pro, but only in China at first. That’s in line with Xiaomi’s usual strategy, where the brand tests experimental phones in China before deciding on a global rollout.
In any case, if the phone does make it overseas, it may not arrive until early 2026.
