HIGHLIGHTS

* Xiaomi India extends the warranty of Redmi Note 10, Redmi Note 10 Pro, Redmi Note 10 Pro Max, Mi 11 Ultra and POCO X3 Pro.
* The primary reason for extending the warranty is because there are multiple complaints of issues such as motherboard failure and camera malfunctions.
* Phones that are rooted, liquid damage, tampering, or cases with physical damage will not be eligible for extended support.

Smartphones typically come with a defined warranty period, usually lasting 1-2 years, during which repairs for both hardware and software issues are covered at no extra cost.

Some brands offer the option to purchase extended warranties for their devices, but it is rare to find a company that provides extended warranties for free.

Xiaomi has chosen to be the exception by announcing a two-year warranty extension for select phones in India. But there are VERY specific conditions for you to avail of this.

Here are the devices getting this extension and the reason behind it

Xiaomi Warranty Extension

Xiaomi quietly announced on Discord (you read that right) that select older phones will have an extended warranty of two years. These devices are the Redmi Note 10 Pro, Redmi Note 10 Pro Max, Mi 11 Ultra, and Poco X3 Pro.

But we hate to break it to you that not all units will get the extension. If you’re currently experiencing a selfie camera issue or a motherboard failure, then only Xiaomi will take care of it under warranty. The company is being very specific with the extension.

This decision was publicly announced during a fans’ meet organized by Xiaomi India’s feedback team. Senior executives, including Murlikrishnan B (President of Xiaomi India), Anuj Sharma (Chief Marketing Officer), and Alvin Tse (Vice President of Xiaomi Global), attended the event.

The meet took place on the Xiaomi Insiders Discord server, providing users with an opportunity to share their feedback on Xiaomi devices.

The primary reason for extending the warranty is because there are multiple complaints of issues such as motherboard failure and camera malfunctions. The warranty extension is expected to offer some relief to the users of these phones and address their concerns.

* The company will offer repairs or replacements at no extra cost. This is, however, unless the company deems the issues to be beyond the warranty coverage.

As a part of the extended warranty, Xiaomi will address two specific issues such as System UI being unresponsiveness and the front camera malfunction on the Redmi Note 10 Pro and Note 10 Pro Max. As for the POCO X3 Pro, Xiaomi will specifically address the power-on issue.

Ans) Xiaomi – What Went Wrong?
There was a time when Xiaomi was India’s No. 1 brand, at that time everyone used to recommend Xiaomi’s phone without thinking and the reason behind it is trust and specifications at affordable price.
But right now Xiaomi India lost their position from No.1 to No.3 in India and the particular reason for that is motherboard dead /hard brick / camera dead / Wi-Fi issues etc. after updating to their phones to latest MIUI software. This all starts with Xiaomi’s own sub-branded POCO X3 Pro.

Majority of the Xiaomi phones are now getting dead every random day and some got repaired from service center but most of them didn’t get repaired as the service center guys ask for money even if your phone is under warranty.

This issue is getting worse day by day and people are shifting to other company smartphones and now the Xiaomi India decided to provide extra 1 year warranty for selected devices which you can check from below.

Xiaomi extends the warranty of select phones

If customers in India have purchased any of the aforementioned devices within the last two years and are presently facing difficulties related to the selfie camera or motherboard, Xiaomi bears the responsibility to address and rectify these issues in accordance with the warranty.

To take advantage of the extended warranty, customers must provide the purchase invoice of their phone at the nearest Xiaomi service centre. For the Poco X3 Pro, Xiaomi will specifically address the power-on fault.
