The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is expected to serve as the flagship model of the Xiaomi 17 series. It will reportedly be joining the rest of the Xiaomi 17 lineup, which already includes the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max.
Although Xiaomi has yet to confirm its launch timeline, a fresh leak has offered a detailed look at what its camera hardware might include. Here’s what we know based on the recent leak.
A report from XiaomiTime claims that newly surfaced images of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra’s photography kit show no provision for a fourth rear camera. The report takes this as an indication that Xiaomi may shift from the quad-camera layout seen on the Xiaomi 15 Ultra.
Instead, the report claims the company could adopt a triple rear camera configuration.

According to the leak, this setup may be led by a powerful 200-megapixel telephoto sensor, marking a major upgrade in zoom capabilities. The report suggests Xiaomi is prioritising optimisation of focal lengths and sensor sizes rather than simply increasing the number of cameras. The camera system was reportedly developed under the codename “Nezha.”
The alleged triple-camera module may include a 50-megapixel primary shooter using an OVX10500U sensor, a 200-megapixel telephoto camera powered by an S5KHPE sensor and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens equipped with either an OV50M or S5KJN5 sensor.
On the front, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is rumoured to feature a 50-megapixel OV50M selfie camera for sharper photos and video calls.
The latest leak also aligns with earlier reports suggesting that Xiaomi is developing a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera. It is said to support 4×4 RMSC for “multi-focal-length lossless zoom” and “telephoto macro” performance. This sensor may deliver improved magnification levels, extended focusing range, and a “high dynamic range.”
Interestingly, a separate report had previously claimed the Xiaomi 17 Ultra would sport a quad-camera setup with three 50-megapixel sensors and a 200-megapixel telephoto unit. The newest leak contradicts that and reinforces the possibility of a triple-camera design instead.
As for the launch timeline, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is expected to launch in 2026 as the successor to the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. However, this is all speculation and we will have to wait for more updates to know anything concrete.
