Xiaomi is rumoured to launch the Xiaomi 17 Ultra in China later this month. Recently, two separate leaks on Weibo have offered an early glimpse of the phone’s likely design. While nothing has been officially confirmed by Xiaomi, these leaks fuel growing expectations for the upcoming flagship.
The first leaked photo we have shows what appears to be the Xiaomi 17 Ultra encased in a protective cover. However, the camera layout remains sufficiently visible to suggest a shift away from the circular module used on the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. The image was posted by the Weibo account Todo Plus.

The new setup revealed in this image looks more compact yet densely arranged. It appears to be featuring three visible lenses. One of these seems to be a periscope telephoto lens, accompanied by a flash and additional cutouts likely housing secondary sensors.
But like we said, that was not the only image leaked this week. In a separate leak, well-known Weibo tipster named Smart Pikachu has also shared a real-life close-up of the alleged 17 Ultra rear.
This image reveals a centrally located rectangular camera island on the back panel, housing four camera lenses. One of these is believed to be the periscope telephoto camera, along with a dual LED-flash setup. Additional openings in the camera island may hold other sensors. The phone appears in a black finish with a metal frame and exposed screw cutouts in the corners. Given that this may be a pre-production unit, the final production model could differ.
If this reflects the actual design, Xiaomi may be discarding the circular rear camera module seen on the 15 Ultra. While the base Xiaomi 17 reportedly continues with a square camera layout like its predecessor, the Ultra variant appears to go in a different direction entirely.
According to recent leaks, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra’s rear camera system could consist of a trio, a 50-megapixel 1-inch primary sensor (possibly an OmniVision OV50X), a massive 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide shooter. This marks a shift from the quad-camera arrangement of the previous Ultra model.
Though the images show a black, metal-framed device with exposed screw holes, the final retail version’s appearance remains unclear. Under the hood, the handset is rumoured to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset (built on a 3 nm process) and may pack a large battery in the 6,000–7,000 mAh range.
