The Xiaomi 17 Max has been coming up in leaks for a while now but Xiaomi has yet to officially confirm it. Anyhow, earlier leaks hinted at an April debut but now recent reports suggested there is a delay. Fresh update from China gives a much clearer launch window while reiterating some of the smartphone’s key specifications. Here’s more on that.
As per the latest leak by famous tipster named Digital Chat Station on Wiebo, the Xiaomi 17 Max is now expected to be unveiled in China during the second half of May.
This timeline indicates that the brand could begin teasing the device as early as the first week of May. However, there is currently no information regarding its availability in global markets.
The Xiaomi 17 Max is tipped to sport a large 6.9-inch flat OLED display with support for 1.5K resolution. The device may also utilize LIPO packaging technology enabling ultra-slim and evenly sized bezels on all sides for a near bezel-less viewing experience.
Unlike Xiaomi’s Pro models such as the 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max with a secondary display on the rear, the 17 Max is not expected to include a back screen. Instead, the company is likely to use the additional internal space to accommodate a larger battery. The smartphone is expected to be introduced initially in black and white colour options.
The phone is said to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset.
In terms of battery capacity, the Xiaomi 17 Max is rumored to pack a massive 8,000mAh unit, which could make it the largest battery ever offered on a Xiaomi smartphone. The device is also expected to support 100W wired charging along with 50W wireless charging capabilities.
For photography, the Xiaomi 17 Max could feature a 200-megapixel Samsung HPE primary sensor, accompanied by a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens.
Other features may include an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, enhanced water and dust resistance and symmetrical dual speakers for improved audio output.
