WhatsApp is ready to push out its “Voice message transcripts” service for Android users, following its first release for iOS users last year.
This functionality is presently in beta and may soon be accessible in places such as India.
The functionality allows Android users to read their audio messages using transcriptions, which may be especially useful for people who have hearing issues.
The “Voice message transcripts” feature has been detected in the Android beta version 2.24.15.5.
According to WABetaInfo, this feature enables users to quickly read transcriptions of lengthy voice notes.
Several beta testers can now enable this feature, which requires downloading an additional data package to ensure user privacy.
Beta testers can select from a variety of language data packages, such as Hindi, English, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazilian), and Russian.
More language options are likely to be introduced in the future.
Currently, the capability appears to be available to a limited number of users in areas where these languages are widely spoken.
The release date for the functionality to all Android users is unknown, although it is expected that WhatsApp will include it in a future version.
In addition to the transcribing capability, WhatsApp is developing other AI-powered capabilities.
“Imagine Me,” a future feature, will enable users to make AI-generated stickers of themselves using Meta AI.
Another function will allow users to upload photographs to Meta AI for alteration.
Both features are currently being tested and are likely to be included in a future update, though the business has not yet announced a release date.
