WhatsApp is reportedly working on new AI-powered writing tools that can rewrite and modify messages in different tones. This is part of the app’s broader push to integrate more AI features, following recent reports of a redesigned Meta AI interface for Android and iOS. Here’s what we know so far.
According to Android Authority, WhatsApp is developing AI-assisted text editing tools that will allow users to proofread and rewrite messages in different styles. While the proofread option will spellcheck and proofread the typed message, the other options will change the style and tone of the message.
Users will be able to choose from seven different filters, which include the following –
When this feature rolls out, WhatsApp users will see a Pencil button near the Send button. Tapping it will open a text editor where they can access these AI-driven tools.
As of now, the feature is still in development and its code was recently spotted in WhatsApp version 2.25.85. This suggests that beta users may get access soon, though there’s no timeline for a full rollout.
In addition to AI writing tools, WhatsApp is reportedly testing a photo collage feature for Status updates.
Revealed in a separate Android Authority report, this feature will supposedly allow users to select up to six images and arrange them in a grid. A new Layout option will be introduced alongside the Music, Voice and Text options while composing a Status update.
