Vivo has introduced its new Y-series smartphone named the Vivo Y500 in China. It comes with the company’s biggest battery to date while still maintaining a slim and practical design. Here’s everything you need to know about this newly launched smartphone.
The Vivo Y500 sports a 6.77-inch flat AMOLED panel with FHD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and 3840Hz PWM dimming for eye comfort. Under the hood, it runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor, paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage.
However, the highlight of the device is its massive 8,200mAh “Blue Ocean” battery, which Vivo claims can last up to six years thanks to semi–solid-state battery technology. The company also says the phone can withstand extreme usage conditions, offering up to 22 hours of outdoor performance at 40°C and 16.7 hours of video playback even at -20°C. The Y500 also supports 90W fast charging.
Despite packing such a large battery, the phone measures only 8.23mm in thickness and weighs 213g. It comes with IP68 and IP69 ratings, making it resistant to dust, water immersion, and high-pressure sprays. Vivo adds that the Y500 has passed a 1.5-meter, 24-hour immersion test and earned a five-star drop-resistance certification.
The build is reinforced with the brand’s new “Diamond Rock” architecture, which is said to offer 100% better compression resistance and 70% better drop resistance compared to its predecessor.
In terms of cameras, the phone carries a 50MP primary sensor along with a 2MP depth sensor at the back. For selfies, there is an 8MP front camera. The rear lenses are protected with aircraft-grade aluminium and a raised outer ring for added durability.
Other notable features include dual stereo speakers tuned by Vivo’s Golden Ear Acoustic Lab, AI-powered network switching, a 360° antenna setup, and full-function NFC. On the software side, the Y500 runs Android 15 with OriginOS 5 out of the box.
The Vivo Y500 is offered in Glacier Blue, Dragon Crystal Purple and Black colour options. Pricing is as follows –
