It appears Vivo is gearing up to compete in the affordable smartphone segment if we look at its upcoming smartphones – Vivo Y29 5G and Vivo Y29e 5G.
And while there is no update from the brand itself, Gizmochina recently spotted these two models from the Vivo Y29 series in the IMEI database.
While detailed information about these devices is still scarce, it’s expected that the Vivo Y29 and Y29e 5G will come with slight improvements over their predecessor, the Vivo Y28 5G.
The Vivo Y29 5G is identified by the model number V2420, and the Y29e 5G carries the model number V2421.
To get somewhat of an idea of what to expect from the Y29 series, here’s a quick look at its predecessor – the Vivo Y28.
The Vivo Y28 5G features a 6.56-inch HD+ (720×1612) resolution LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate and a brightness of 840 nits.
It has a side-mounted fingerprint reader and is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 mid-range processor.
The device comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, expandable up to 1TB via an SD card.
Additionally, the Vivo Y28 5G is equipped with a dual-camera setup on the rear, consisting of a 50MP main sensor and a 2MP depth sensor, while the front houses an 8MP selfie camera.
The smartphone runs on Funtouch OS 13 based on Android 13 and is backed by a 5000 mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. Connectivity options include 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and a USB Type-C port.
As of now, there’s no confirmed launch date for the Vivo Y29 series, but more details are likely to surface soon.
These smartphones are expected to be popular choices for those looking for budget-friendly options.
