The upcoming Vivo X Fold 3 and its Pro variant have been the subject of recent leaks, offering a glimpse into the specifications of these third-generation foldable smartphones.
These models are set to succeed the Vivo X Fold 2 from last year, and the leaks, originating from the well-known tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, shed light on some key differences and advancements in the series.
Here’s what you should know.
The Vivo X Fold 3 Pro is reported to feature a triple rear camera setup, headlined by a 50MP primary lens equipped with OIS.
This lens is likely to be a Sony LYT 900 sensor, a choice that Vivo seems to be replicating in its upcoming Vivo X100 Pro+ smartphone.
In terms of processing power, the Vivo X Fold 3 is expected to house the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset.
Its Pro counterpart, however, is slated to take a leap forward with the newer Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, positioning it at the forefront of processing capabilities in the foldable market.
The camera system on the X Fold 3 Pro is anticipated to include a 50MP main camera with OIS, an ultra-wide lens, and a unique periscope telephoto camera – possibly the 64MP OV64B.
In contrast, the standard X Fold 3 might not include this periscope telephoto lens, as indicated by the absence of such a feature in the engineering prototype.
Differences extend beyond the camera and processor.
The X Fold 3 reportedly will not include an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner and 50W wireless charging, features expected in the Pro model.
Meanwhile the Pro variant is rumoured to boast an ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint sensor integrated not only into its outer display but also its inner foldable screen.
While the battery capacity of the Pro remains under wraps, it is anticipated to support both 100W wired and 50W wireless charging.
The Pro model’s inner LTPO panel is set to support a 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, a significant upgrade.
Details about the non-Pro model’s display specifications, however, remain elusive.
The devices will of course first be announced in the Chinese market and will then likely be revealed for global markets, if at all.
