Vivo has officially entered the mixed reality (MR) space with the launch of its first headset, the Vivo Vision Explorer Edition, in China. Marketed as a direct rival to the Apple Vision Pro, the headset comes with dual 8K Micro-OLED displays, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 platform, and advanced input methods like eye tracking and micro-gesture control. Vivo Vision Explorer – Design and Functionality
The MR headset features a large front visor and a padded rear headband to ensure comfort and stability during long sessions. It is capable of recording 3D videos, capturing spatial photos, and can unlock additional features when paired with select Vivo smartphones.

Vivo has also focused on immersive experiences, offering a 180-degree panoramic field of view, spatial audio, and a virtual 120-inch cinema screen controllable through gestures.
Supported use cases include multi-device casting, dome video playback, 3D e-sports viewing, PC and mobile game streaming, and multi-window productivity.
Vivo Vision Explorer – Key Features
The headset is equipped with dual binocular 8K displays (3,552 × 3,840 pixels) offering 94% coverage of the P3 color gamut. Vivo says the screens support a brightness range from 100 to 1000 nits, delivering sharp and vivid visuals.
Powering the device is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chipset, supported by Vivo’s in-house Blue Ocean power management system. The headset runs on OriginOS Vision, an operating system tailored for MR, and achieves ultra-low latency of just 13ms for smoother interaction.
The Vision Explorer also introduces precise 1.5-degree eye tracking and 26-degree depth-of-field micro-gesture recognition with a 175-degree vertical interaction range. In terms of dimensions, it measures 83mm tall, 40mm thick, and weighs 398g.
Vivo Vision Explorer – Availability and Preorders
While Vivo has not yet revealed the official price or wide release date, the Vision Explorer Edition is already available for preorder at 12 authorised Vivo experience stores across China.
A broader rollout of stores is planned soon.
Starting August 22, trial sign-ups will open at these experience stores in more than 10 cities, including Beijing and Shenzhen. Vivo’s Community Vision Consultant Program will also allow selected participants to test the headset and provide feedback.
