Vivo has officially launched OriginOS 6 worldwide, marking the end of its long-running Funtouch OS. Announced during the “Brave New Origin: 2025” event in Shanghai on October 15, 2025, the latest software brings a complete design refresh, enhanced AI integration, and improved performance. Based on Android 16, OriginOS 6 represents Vivo’s most ambitious global rollout yet.
“For years, Vivo has deepened its global presence under the principle of ‘More Local, More Global,’ and continues to create products and experiences that stay true to users’ needs,” said SHI Yujian, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Vivo. “As we celebrate Vivo’s 30th anniversary, we are taking the next step with the global debut of OriginOS. Guided by our ‘Origin Design’ philosophy and built on three core pillars of smoothness, design and AI, the brand new OriginOS 6 reimagines the way people connect with the digital world.”
The first devices to ship with OriginOS 6 are the Vivo X300 series and iQOO 15, both powered by Qualcomm’s latest hardware. The X300 lineup went on sale in China on October 13, and its India launch is expected by late November or early December, followed by the iQOO 15 as the brand’s first device to run the new OS.
Indian users can already join the OriginOS 6 Preview Program through the official Vivo and iQOO apps. Beta testing is currently underway, with stable builds expected to roll out in the coming weeks.
Vivo confirmed that the rollout will begin with beta testing from October 15, followed by stable versions in November 2025 and beyond. Below is the detailed rollout plan:

Vivo’s new Origin Smooth Engine improves app cold start speeds by 18.5%, boosts frame rate stability by 10.5%, and enhances animation responsiveness by 35%.
The Dual Rendering system and Origin Animation Suite (featuring Spring, Blur Transition, Morphing, and One Shot effects) make UI interactions feel smoother and more natural. Meanwhile, the Snap-Up Engine enables faster app switching, up to 16% quicker between consecutive launches.

The system integrates AI Retouch, Smart Call Assistant, DocMaster, AI Creation, AI Search, and Google Gemini. The AI agent YOYO can assist users automatically in relevant contexts, further streamlining multitasking and productivity.
Similar to Apple’s Dynamic Island, Origin Island acts as a multitasking hub for live activities. Users can copy text into calls or calendar events using Copy & Go, or drag edits into other apps with Drag & Go.
Vivo explains, “The new Origin Island surfaces real-time status at the top of the screen and remains visible when you leave apps, integrated with Android 16’s Live Updates integration. It offers contextual suggestions you can act on instantly, enabling Copy & Go—copy a phone number to call, text or save as a new contact, or copy meeting details to create a calendar item, and Drag & Go—edit a photo, for example, and drag it to Origin Island to continue in the suggested app without switching.”
The new Private Space, accessed with a left swipe from the dock, lets users separate personal and business data securely. The Vivo Connection Centre enhances cross-device capabilities, supporting PC screen mirroring, file transfers, and task continuity, even enabling EasyShare pairing with iPhones.

OriginOS 6 draws from natural and fluid design principles, introducing translucent layers, adaptive wallpapers, and the new Vivo Sans font (supporting over 40 languages). The redesigned Control Centre, Lock Screen Grid widgets, new charging animations, status bar improvements, and 4×7 adaptive folders offer users deeper personalisation. Features like Flip Cards and Together & Separate layout modes further enhance usability.
