Through its Verified Business Caller ID solution, the caller identification app has enabled Vodafone Idea’s customer service and sales team to enhance their interactions with users.

Vi customers can easily identify genuine calls from Vi by looking for certain trustworthy indicators provided by Truecaller, which include a green caller ID, a category tag, a tamper-proof brand name along with the logo, a verified business badge, and a call reason.

As per the company, the solution enhances business calls by providing a brand identity and relevant context and that likely makes the customer communication more reliable. It helps in reducing call-related frauds and scams while also improving the efficiency and safety of business communications.

Truecall has been taking measures to prevent fraud via calls for quite some time. In December 2023, the platform introduced an in-app digital government directory, enabling users to verify if a caller is a legitimate government representative or a potential fraudster. By accessing a digital list of verified government contacts, Truecaller users can easily check the information of the caller.

India is among one of the biggest markets for Truecaller. The company claims to have over 350 million active users.

It has been downloaded more than a billion times since launch and has identified and blocked nearly 50 billion unwanted calls in 2021.

Last month, the company reintroduced support for call recording on the app for smartphones.

The feature was previously only available on Android smartphones. However, it was discontinued after Google cracked down on apps using an API designed for accessibility features to record calls.
