Vodafone Idea (Vi) has launched voice-only prepaid plans in India to provide an affordable alternative to feature phone users and those with a secondary SIM to remain connected. The new launch has packs beginning at Rs 179 and also higher-validity tier alternatives like Rs 439, Rs 649 and Rs 979 to accommodate different use demands.
Vi’s voice-only prepaid plans follow the recent direction of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) asking service providers to provide standalone voice and SMS bundles. TRAI observed that low-income consumers, particularly in rural regions of the country, were forced to acquire unnecessary data packages merely to keep their incoming and outgoing calls alive.

Vi Rs 179 Prepaid Plan: Benefits and Validity
The Rs 179 offers an entry-level bundle if you want basic calling and don’t want to spend a lot upfront. It provides a service validity of 25 days, unlimited voice calls to all domestic networks and 300 SMS. The bundle also comes with free access to Vi Movies and TV app for basic media streaming, however, normal data prices will be applicable if you choose the same.
Vi Rs 439 Prepaid Plan: Benefits and Validity
If you want to recharge on a quarterly cycle, then the Rs 439 plan provides for almost three months of use with its 84-day validity. It has unlimited local and national calls and a 600 SMS for the full duration. It doesn’t have mobile data; thus, it lets you keep your talk time going without topping up every month.
Vi Rs 649 Prepaid Plan: Benefits and Validity
There is a Rs 649 plan with a duration of 180 days. It gives unlimited local calls and a maximum of 900 SMS. This plan is ideal for individuals who don’t want to recharge every month and are looking for a six-month recharge for basic call access.

The Rs 979 plan is Vi’s whole-year plan for a voice-only portfolio with a validity of 365 days. It offers unlimited voice calls throughout India with 1,200 SMS for the year. This package helps you keep your Vi SIM alive and active for a whole year without any need of internet add-ons.
