Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 vs Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6
Qualcomm has two distinct flagship platforms in its upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 lineup, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and the higher-positioned Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. Although their names are similar, they should not be treated as the same chipset.
The distinction matters when tracking upcoming flagship smartphones. A phone reported to use the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 should not automatically be included in a list of devices powered by the Extreme Gen 6 variant.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 is expected to power premium devices such as the Xiaomi 18 Pro, iQOO 16, OnePlus 16 and Motorola Signature 27. The standard Gen 6 platform is a separate chipset and its appearance in a phone’s specifications does not establish that the device uses the Extreme variant.
Which Phones Will Launch in India?
Several upcoming smartphones featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 have been confirmed or showcased for India. However, their launch dates and prices are not yet available in every case. The Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra remains a rumoured entry, with its processor still unconfirmed.
