To push the ‘Tips’ feature in India, micro blogging site Twitter has joined hands with digital payment company Paytm. The association will allow Twitter influencers to accept Twitter Tips directly through Paytm via multiple modes of payment, including UPI, credit/debit cards, net banking, wallets and more.
“Now, send & receive Tips on @TwitterIndia with Paytm!Show appreciation for your favourite creator. Dil ke account se tip karo (sic),” tweeted Paytm.
Tips feature by Twitter lets you add links to select third-party payment services to your profile. When users turn on Tips on their profile, people can support them by tapping on their Tips icon to send money or Bitcoin off-platform via the third-party payment services and platforms you have added.
“People on Twitter already share their Venmo handle and $Cashtag in Tweets. And people are often informed, entertained, and even moved by conversations taking place on the Home timeline and in Twitter Spaces. With Tips, Twitter is creating an easy way to direct people to links to their payment profiles and making it easier to support the people driving the conversation on Twitter – whether you want to support a content creator, help someone fundraise, tip someone who just needs some help or thank someone for making you laugh,” informs a post on Twitter.
According to Twitter, iOS and Android users will see the money icon on the profile pages of people who have set up Tips on their profile. For people on Android, you’ll also find it on their profile while in Twitter Spaces. Currently Tips is not available on web.
