• iPad Pro sales represented 43% of total iPad sales in the second quarter of this year.
• iPad Pro seems to cut into the sales of both iPad mini and iPad Air.
The best selling iPad is the iPad Pro, according to a new report from CIRP.
In the second quarter of this year (April to June), iPad Pro sales (both the inch 11 & 13 inch models) contributed 43% of total iPad sales an increase from 38% in the year-ago making it to the top.
Apple upgraded iPad Pro and Air, with faster processors, improved displays, and slimmer form factors.
The vanilla iPad with 35% is at the 2 nd place, iPad Air is following with 12% and iPad mini with 10%.
In comparison to Q2 2023, the iPad Pro’s sales has grown by 5%, the vanilla iPad’s is still the same, the iPad Air and iPad mini shares both went down to making space for iPad Pro sales to grow.
The new iPad Pro models launched in May, in the middle of Q2, and that had an impact on the sales .
The new iPad Air models launched at the same time, but it didn’t have any impact.
As we have seen with many other Apple launches the first-acting consumers seem to be attracted to the high-end, most expensive models available, like the iPad Pros.
Price seems to play an important role in the consistency of the sale performance & output.
CIRP wants to access the market share stabilization for the iPads for one or two quarters ahead to make their final conclusion about the consumer reactions .
They would be sure by then if the iPad Pro success in sales was just for the launch time frame of the newest generation or are there any other reasons to support its sale success.
The iPad Pro represents an absolute leader for pros, creators, and power users who need nothing less than the best in performance, display quality, and productivity features.
It is a real powerhouse with its next-generation M4 chip, stunning OLED display, and compatibility with the latest accessories.
But for a casual user who wants to have a flexible tablet for entertainment, light productivity, and general use, an iPad Air is an excellent value.
Its capable M2 processor, bright display, and compatibility with the Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard make for a balanced device in performance and price.
Ultimately, the decision comes down to your specific needs, budget, and preferences.
Whether you opt for the cutting-edge iPad Pro or the versatile iPad Air, Apple’s latest tablet offerings are poised to redefine the tablet experience for years to come.
Undoubtedly, the iPad Pro commands a premium price, with the 11-inch model starting at Rs 99,900 for the Wi-Fi variant and Rs 119,900 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular option.
The larger 13-inch model demands an even higher investment, starting at Rs 129,900 for the Wi-Fi version and Rs 149,900 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular configuration.
In contrast, the iPad Air offers a more budget-friendly alternative, with the 11-inch model priced at Rs 59,900 for the Wi-Fi variant and Rs 79,900 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular option.
The larger 13-inch model starts at Rs 74,900 for the Wi-Fi version and Rs 94,900 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular configuration.
The new iPad Pro models are designed to be 20% better in thermal performance compared to their predecessors, incorporating graphite sheets and utilizing the Apple logo made of copper to help dissipate heat more effectively.
Tandem OLED offers higher dynamic range, power efficiency, and better performance under various ambient lighting conditions.
Engineering this technology into portable devices including tablets, however, presented further challenges.
Tablets need to perform under a variety of ambient lighting conditions and operate from the battery, so must support efficient power management.
Tandem OLED can optimize pixel operation by stacking two emissive layers and achieve higher dynamic range and power efficiency.
