Sony WH-1000XM6 – What To Expect

The upcoming headphones were spotted by X (formerly Twitter) user The Walkman Blog. The user shared all details on X along with screenshots of the listing.

According to the listing, the WH-1000XM6 will be available in Black, Midnight Blue and Platinum Silver colours. The launch is all set for May 16, 2025, just a few days after Sony unveils its Xperia 1 VII. The price is set at €449 in the Eurozone (up €30 from the XM5’s launch price) and £399 in the UK.

Meanwhile, a leaked Amazon Spain listing supports the same shipping date. However, there’s no sign of a U.S. release yet, suggesting that the first wave might be limited to Europe and the UK.

The XM6 is shaping up to be a solid upgrade over the WH-1000XM5, which currently sells for $291.50 on Amazon. It comes with a foldable design, a new QN3 noise-cancelling chip, 12 microphones and 30mm drivers. Battery life stays the same at 30 hours, along with support for 360 Reality Audio.

Fans online are talking about a new magnetic case, a wider headband and possible support for Hi-Res Audio, LDAC, and a Game EQ mode. Some are excited, while others are questioning the estimated $449 U.S. price tag, which would be about 12% more than the XM5’s $399 launch price.
