Sony’s next-gen noise-cancelling headphones the WH-1000XM6 have leaked ahead of their official debut. A listing on Amazon Spain went live briefly and revealed almost all key specs and features including price and launch date. Here’s what we know so far.
The WH-1000XM6 will come with Sony’s brand-new QN3 processor, which is seven times faster than the QN1 chip used in the XM5. The new processor works alongside 12 microphones to deliver real-time adaptive noise cancelling. It can adjust based on surrounding sounds, air pressure and even how you’re wearing the headphones.
There’s also an Adaptive NC Optimizer, which automatically fine-tunes noise reduction without any manual setup.
The headphones support Hi-Res Audio over LDAC and include DSEE Extreme with Edge-AI to bring compressed audio files back to life in real time. The audio frequency range spans from 4 Hz to 40,000 Hz, powered by carbon fiber dome speakers for better clarity and detail.
The WH-1000XM6 supports SBC, AAC, LDAC and LC3 codecs.
For calls, there’s a six-mic beamforming setup with AI-based wind noise reduction, designed to keep your voice clear even in noisy environments.
Touch controls are included along with wear detection, smart ambient sound mode and talk mode, which lets you have conversations without taking the headphones off.

The XM6 features an adjustable asymmetrical headband, padded ear cushions and a foldable design for easy storage. It weighs 254 grams and will be available in Black, Platinum Silver and Midnight Blue colour options.

Meanwhile, the expected price is $449.99 in the US. The headphones are expected to launch between May 14 and 16, 2025 with May 15 likely being the official release date.
