Somehow smartphone manufacturers have been putting a lot of thought and resources into developing slimmer phones.
It appears the race to make the slimmest smartphone has finally reached the top order. While we are still processing the slim iPhone 17 rumours, the grapevine now buzzing about a slim Galaxy S25 too.
According to industry insiders quoted by the Korean publication ETNews, Samsung is reportedly planning to launch a Slim version of one of the Galaxy S25 phones.
This will be released a few months after the initial Galaxy S25 series lineup, which is expected to debut early next year with the usual three models.
This slimmer Galaxy S25 model is expected to arrive following a similar approach to the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, with a focus on achieving a more compact and slim design. However, it’s still unclear which of the S25 models will be the basis for the Galaxy S25 Slim version.
Insiders say that Samsung wants to test the market’s interest in slimmer smartphones and if the response is positive, they might incorporate these design elements into the Galaxy S26.
Earlier reports from The Elec also suggested that Samsung might turn the Galaxy S25 FE into a Slim model, which would align with this strategy, as the FE models typically launch a few months after the main lineup.
This timing helps avoid competing directly with the initial Galaxy S25 series, a concern Samsung also reportedly has with the new Slim model.
This is not the first time we will be getting a slim Samsung phone. About a decade ago, Samsung launched the Galaxy Alpha, which was a slim 6.7mm smartphone. This was to inspire the Galaxy S6 design the next year.
Interestingly, Apple is also rumoured to be working on a Slim model for next year potentially replacing its Plus model, which struggled to gain traction after it replaced the mini model.
