Highlights

  • Samsung showcased various futuristic display technologies at MWC including a foldable laptop, a pocket-sized gaming console and stretchable screens.
  • The foldable laptop called Flexible Briefcase transforms into a sleek briefcase when closed and features an 18.1-inch QD-OLED display.
  • Other innovations include the OLED Tile for a bezel-less TV experience and the Flex Gaming foldable gaming console with a 7.2-inch OLED screen.

Samsung dazzled the crowd with a series of futuristic and concept display technology at the MWC 2025. These include a foldable TV that fits in a briefcase, a pocket-sized gaming console and even a stretchable screen. These innovative displays are all built on special OLED technology, but they remain just concepts for now.

Here’s everything that Samsung showcases.

One of the standout innovations is the “Flexible Briefcase”, a foldable laptop that transforms into a sleek briefcase when closed. It features an 18.1-inch QD-OLED display with a QHD+ resolution (2,000 x 2,664 pixels) and 184 PPI pixel density.

The unique design includes built-in handles, making it easy to carry like an actual briefcase. Samsung has also integrated power and volume buttons into the casing for added convenience.

“This device can be transformed into a bag-like form with grips for easy carrying. When unfolded, it servers as an 18.1-inch tablet, equivalent to the size of two standard tablets. And can be folded into a compact briefcase for convenience,” Samsung explains.

When opened, the Flexible Briefcase reveals a large 18.1-inch display with a 4.5R folding radius ensuring durability. The QD-OLED panel promises sharp and vibrant visuals, though its pixel density is slightly lower than the Galaxy Book4 Ultra (212 PPI).

While still a prototype, this foldable laptop could be a game-changer, especially for creators and professionals. Samsung has been experimenting with foldable laptops for a while with patents dating back to 2022. The Flex Note concept was an earlier version of this idea, but the Flexible Briefcase looks more refined and has a better chance of making it to market.

Samsung’s Other Display Innovations at MWC 2025

OLED Tile – The Bezel-Less TV Experience

Samsung also showcased OLED Tile, a display concept designed to create a seamless TV experience without visible borders. It uses ten 6.8-inch OLED panels with a super-thin 0.6mm bezel making it almost invisible when placed together.

“The OLED Tile demonstration showcases full-screen technology. The tile’s ultra-thin bezels create the appearance of a single display when all panels are illuminated,” said Samsung.

This means users can assemble multiple tiles to create a larger display, without the chunky bezels seen on traditional TVs.

Flex Gaming – Samsung’s Foldable Gaming Console

Samsung also introduced Flex Gaming, a concept foldable gaming console that features a 7.2-inch foldable OLED screen.

It looks a lot like a Nintendo Switch, but instead of detachable controllers, the main feature is its ability to fold in half for easy portability. Samsung has been leading the way in foldable smartphone technology, and this console seems like an extension of that expertise.

If it ever becomes a real product, it could be a big deal for portable gaming, offering a large display without sacrificing pocketability.

Stretchable Screens – A Display That Expands on Demand

Another eye-catching innovation was Samsung’s stretchable display, showcased under glass at the event.

Samsung claims this screen can stretch by up to 125%, meaning users could pull on it to increase display size when needed. Despite its flexibility, it still packs 120 pixels per inch (PPI), ensuring sharp visuals.

Will These Concepts Become Real Products?

All these devices are still in prototype stage. As of now, there’s no word on when or if they’ll hit the market. However, if Samsung’s history tells us anything about turning experimental tech into real products, we might not have to wait too long to see foldable laptops, stretchable screens and pocket-sized gaming consoles become mainstream.
