Apple’s future iPhone models, including the iPhone 18, are set to benefit from enhanced battery life thanks to Samsung’s new advancements in OLED panel technology.
This innovation involves a significant change in the materials used for manufacturing these panels.
According to a report by The Elec, Samsung Display is developing new blue phosphorescent materials for its OLED panels, a move that’s expected to boost both brightness and power efficiency.
Currently, Samsung’s OLED panels use red and green phosphorous materials. The introduction of blue phosphorescent materials, replacing the fluorescent ones, is poised to enhance the overall performance.
This advancement in OLED technology is projected to be ready by 2026.
Consequently, the iPhone 18, anticipated for release in the same year, could be the first model to feature these upgraded OLED panels.
In the meantime, upcoming iPhone models, such as the iPhone 16 and iPhone 17, are likely to use Samsung’s material set M14 for their OLED displays.
The transition to the new OLED material set, known as B1, is expected to begin with foldable displays before being integrated into future iPhone models.
This shift towards more efficient OLED materials by Samsung indicates a significant step forward in smartphone display technology, potentially leading to longer battery life and enhanced display quality in future iPhones.
Samsung is actively developing blue phosphorescent materials for its OLED panels. This advancement aims to increase the panels’ brightness and power efficiency, marking a significant improvement over current technologies.
The new OLED technology developed by Samsung is expected to enhance the battery life of future iPhones, starting with the iPhone 18. The improved efficiency and brightness of the OLED panels will contribute to better overall performance.
The new OLED technology is slated for introduction in 2026. Therefore, the iPhone 18, expected to release in the same year, could be the first iPhone model to incorporate this advanced OLED panel.
